Agricultural quality matrix-based multiomics structural analysis of carrots in soils fertilized with thermophile-fermented compost

Compost is used worldwide as a soil conditioner for crops, but its functions have still been explored. Here, the omics profiles of carrots were investigated, as a root vegetable plant model, in a field amended with compost fermented with thermophilic Bacillaceae for growth and quality indices. Exposure to compost significantly increased the productivity, antioxidant activity, red color, and taste of the carrot root and altered the soil bacterial composition with the levels of characteristic metabolites of the leaf, root, and soil. Based on the data, structural equation modeling (SEM) estimated that L-2-aminoadipate, phenylalanine, flavonoids and / or carotenoids in plants were optimally linked by exposure to compost. The SEM of the soil estimated that the genus Paenibacillus, L-2-aminoadipate and nicotinamide, and S-methyl L-cysteine were optimally involved during exposure. These estimates did not show a contradiction between the whole genomic analysis of compost-derived Paenibacillus isolates and the bioactivity data, inferring the presence of a complex cascade of plant growth-promoting effects and modulation of the nitrogen cycle by compost itself. These observations have provided information on the qualitative indicators of compost in complex soil-plant interactions and offer a new perspective for chemically independent sustainable agriculture through the efficient use of natural nitrogen.

NNI Quark-Lepton Mass Matrices in SUSY SU(5) GUT

We propose the Fritzsch-Branco-Silva-Marcos type fermion mass matrix, which is a typical texture in the nearest-neighbor interaction form, in SU(5) GUT. By evolution of the mass matrices with SU(5) GUT relations in the minimal SUSY standard model, we obtain predictions for the unitarity triangle of CP violation as well as the quark flavor mixing angles, which are consistent with experimental data, in the case of \tanβ\simeq 3.

New Possibility of Solving the Problem of Lifetime Ratio $τ(Λ_b) / τ(B_d)$

We discuss the problem of the large discrepancy between the observed lifetime ratio of $Λ_b$ to $B_d$ and the theoretical prediction obtained by the heavy quark effective theory. A new possibility of solving this problem is proposed from the viewpoint of operator product expansion and the lifetime ratio of $Ω_b$ to $B_d$ is predicted.

The Ξ_Q - Ξ_Q' Mixing and Heavy Baryon Masses

We examine the $Ξ_Q - Ξ'_Q$ mixing and heavy baryon masses in the heavy quark effective theory with the $\mq$ corrections. In the conventional baryon assignment, we obtain the mixing angle $\cos^2 θ= 0.87\pm 0.03$ in virtue of the Gell-Mann-Okubo mass relation. On the other hand, if we adopt the new baryon assignment given by Falk, the allowed region of the $Σ_c$ mass is upper from 2372 MeV.

The Unitarity Triangle on the First Quadrant and the Quark Mass Matrices in the Nearest-Neighbor Interaction Basis

The unitarity triangle on the first quadrant in the $ρ-η$ plane is discussed in the framework of the quark mass matrices in the NNI basis. If the quark mass matrices of the up-type is the Fritzsch one and the down-type is the one proposed by Branco et al., respectively, one gets the unitarity triangle with the vertex on the first quadrant. This simple model may be a candidate of the quark mass matrix ansatze, if the allowed region of the vertex of the unitarity triangle is restricted in the first quadrant by future experiments.

The Unitarity Triangle and Quark Mass Matrices on the NNI Basis

We examine the unitarity triangle of the KM matrix by using the general quark mass matrices on the NNI basis. The Fritzsch anzätz is modified by introducing four additional parameters. The KM matrix elements are expressed in terms of quark mass ratios, two phases and four additional parameters. It is found that the vertex of the unitarity triangle is predicted to be almost in the second quadrant on the $ρ-η$ plane as far as $V_{us}\simeq -{\displaystyle \sqrt{\frac{m_d}{m_s}}e^{ip}+ \sqrt{\frac{m_u}{m_c}}e^{iq}}$ is held.
