Sparsity greedoids and pebble game algorithms for posets

We generalise a sparsity condition for hypergraphs and show a result relating sparseness of hypergraphs to the decomposition of a modified incidence graph into edge-disjoint forests. We also give new sparsity conditions for posets and define an algorithm of pebble game type for posets to test when these sparsity conditions hold. Furthermore, we prove that under natural conditions, the sparsity conditions define a greedoid.

Cayley Incidence Graphs

Evra, Feigon, Maurischat, and Parzanchevski (2023) introduced a biregular extension of Cayley graphs. In this paper, we reformulate their definition and provide some basic properties. We also show how these Cayley incidence graphs relate to various notions of Cayley hypergraphs. We further establish connections between Cayley incidence graphs and certain geometric and combinatorial structures, including coset geometries, difference sets and cages.

Coding Theory using Linear Complexity of Finite Sequences

We define a metric on $\mathbb{F}_q^n$ using the linear complexity of finite sequences. We will then develop a coding theory for this metric. We will give a Singleton-like bound and we will give constructions of subspaces of $\mathbb{F}_q^n$ achieving this bound. We will compute the size of balls with respect to this metric. In other words we will count how many finite sequences have linear complexity bounded by some integer $r$. The paper is motivated in part by the desire to design new code based cryptographic systems.

A decoding algorithm for Twisted Gabidulin codes

In this work, we modify the decoding algorithm for subspace codes by Koetter and Kschischang to get a decoding algorithm for (generalized) twisted Gabidulin codes. The decoding algorithm we present applies to cases where the code is linear over the base field $\mathbb{F}_q$ but not linear over $\mathbb{F}_{q^n}$.

On the Genericity of Maximum Rank Distance and Gabidulin Codes

We consider linear rank-metric codes in $\mathbb F_{q^m}^n$. We show that the properties of being MRD (maximum rank distance) and non-Gabidulin are generic over the algebraic closure of the underlying field, which implies that over a large extension field a randomly chosen generator matrix generates an MRD and a non-Gabidulin code with high probability. Moreover, we give upper bounds on the respective probabilities in dependence on the extension degree $m$.
