Uniqueness theorems for topological higher-rank graph C*-algebras

We consider the boundary-path groupoids of topological higher-rank graphs. We show that the all such groupoids are topologically amenable. We deduce that the C*-algebras of topological higher-rank graphs are nuclear and prove versions of the gauge-invariant uniqueness theorem and the Cuntz-Krieger uniqueness theorem. We then provide a necessary and sufficient condition for simplicity of a topological higher-rank graph C*-algebra, and a condition under which it is also purely infinite.

C*-algebras associated to product systems of Hilbert bimodules

Let (G,P) be a quasi-lattice ordered group and let X be a compactly aligned product system over P of Hilbert bimodules. Under mild hypotheses we associate to X a C*-algebra which we call the Cuntz-Nica-Pimsner algebra of X. Our construction generalises a number of others: a sub-class of Fowler's Cuntz-Pimsner algebras for product systems of Hilbert bimodules; Katsura's formulation of Cuntz-Pimsner algebras of Hilbert bimodules; the C*-algebras of finitely aligned higher-rank graphs; and Crisp and Laca's boundary quotients of Toeplitz algebras. We show that for a large class of product systems X, the universal representation of X in its Cuntz-Nica-Pimsner algebra is isometric.

Groupoid models for the C*-algebras of topological higher-rank graphs

We provide groupoid models for Toeplitz and Cuntz-Krieger algebras of topological higher-rank graphs. Extending the groupoid models used in the theory of graph algebras and topological dynamical systems to our setting, we prove results on essential freeness and amenability of the groupoids which capture the existing theory, and extend results involving group crossed products of graph algebras.

Topological higher-rank graphs and the $C^*$-algebras of topological 1-graphs

We introduce the notion of a topological higher-rank graph, a unified generalization of the higher-rank graph and the topological graph. Using groupoid techniques, we define the Toeplitz and Cuntz-Krieger algebras of topological higher-rank graphs, and show that the $C^*$-algebras defined are coherent with the existing theory.

The $C^*$-algebras of finitely aligned higher-rank graphs

We generalise the theory of Cuntz-Krieger families and graph algebras to the class of finitely aligned $k$-graphs. This class contains in particular all row-finite $k$-graphs. The Cuntz-Krieger relations for non-row-finite $k$-graphs look significantly different from the usual ones, and this substantially complicates the analysis of the graph algebra. We prove a gauge-invariant uniqueness theorem and a Cuntz-Krieger uniqueness theorem for the $C^*$-algebras of finitely aligned $k$-graphs.

Higher-rank graphs and their C*-algebras

We consider the higher-rank graphs introduced by Kumjian and Pask as models for higher-rank Cuntz-Krieger algebras. We describe a variant of the Cuntz-Krieger relations which applies to graphs with sources, and describe a local convexity condition which characterises the higher-rank graphs that admit a nontrivial Cuntz-Krieger family. We then prove versions of the uniqueness theorems and classifications of ideals for the C*-algebras generated by Cuntz-Krieger families.
