Moment-preserving Young's inequality for the hard potential Boltzmann gain operator

We prove a new moment-preserving Young's inequality for the gain operator of the Boltzmann equation with hard potentials, including the critical case of hard-spheres. Our approach relies crucially on a novel cancellation mechanism dealing with the pathological case of energy-absorbing collisions (that is, collisions that accumulate energy to only one of the outgoing particles). This difficulty is specific to hard potentials, and is not present for Maxwell molecules. Our method quantifies the heuristic that, while energy-absorbing collisions occur with non-trivial probability, they are statistically rare, and therefore do not affect the overall averaging behavior of the gain operator. At the technical level, our proof relies solely on tools from kinetic theory, such as geometric identities and angular averaging.

Global existence of strong solutions to the Inhomogeneous Kinetic Wave Equation

In this paper we construct global dispersive solutions to the space inhomogeneous kinetic wave equation (KWE) which propagate $L^1_{xv}$ moments and conserve mass, momentum and energy. We prove that they scatter, and that the wave operators mapping the initial data to the scattering states are 1-1, onto and continuous in a suitable topology. This is the first global existence result for strong solutions for KWE. This contrasts with prior global existence results for mild solutions, which satisfy a transported version of the equation but do not solve the equation itself. Our proof is carried out entirely in physical space and combines dispersive estimates for the free transport with new trilinear bounds for the gain and loss operators of the KWE on weighted Lebesgue spaces. The main difficulty is the fast growth of the hard-sphere kernel. Our fundamental tool to handle it is a novel collisional averaging estimate. We also show that the nonlinear evolution preserves positivity forward in time. For this, we use the Kaniel-Shinbrot iteration scheme \cite{KS}, properly initialized to ensure successive approximations are dispersive.

On the optimal local well-posedness of the wave kinetic equation in $L^r$

In this paper, we give a unified treatment of the local well-posedness for the wave kinetic equation in almost critical weighted $L^r$ spaces with $2 \leq r \leq \infty.$ The proof builds on ideas from our earlier works \cite{AmLe24, AmLemain25}. Our approach is based solely on kinetic tools, with no appeal to Fourier theory.

Resolving Sharp Gradients of Unstable Singularities to Machine Precision via Neural Networks

Recent work introduced a robust computational framework combining embedded mathematical structures, advanced optimization, and neural network architecture, leading to the discovery of multiple unstable self-similar solutions for key fluid dynamics equations, including the Incompressible Porous Media (IPM) and 2D Boussinesq systems. While this framework confirmed the existence of these singularities, an accuracy level approaching double-float machine precision was only achieved for stable and 1st unstable solutions of the 1D Córdoba-Córdoba-Fontelos model. For highly unstable solutions characterized by extreme gradients, the accuracy remained insufficient for validation. The primary obstacle is the presence of sharp solution gradients. Those gradients tend to induce large, localized PDE residuals during training, which not only hinder convergence, but also obscure the subtle signals near the origin required to identify the correct self-similar scaling parameter lambda of the solutions. In this work, we introduce a gradient-normalized PDE residual re-weighting scheme to resolve the high-gradient challenge while amplifying the critical residual signals at the origin for lambda identification. Coupled with the multi-stage neural network architecture, the PDE residuals are reduced to the level of round-off error across a wide spectrum of unstable self-similar singularities previously discovered. Furthermore, our method enables the discovery of new highly unstable singularities, i.e. the 4th unstable solution for IPM equations and a novel family of highly unstable solitons for the Nonlinear Schrödinger equations. This results in achieving high-gradient solutions with high precision, providing an important ingredient for bridging the gap between numerical discovery and computer-assisted proofs for unstable phenomena in nonlinear PDEs.

On the ill-posedness of kinetic wave equations

In this article we identify a sharp ill-posedness/well-posedness threshold for kinetic wave equations (KWE) derived from quasilinear Schrödinger models. We show well-posedness using a collisional averaging estimate proved in our earlier work \cite{AmLe}. Ill-posedness manifests as instantaneous loss of smoothness for well-chosen initial data. We also prove that both the gain-only and full equation share the same well-posedness threhold, thus legitimizing a gain-only approach to solving 4-wave kinetic equations.

Internal modes and radiation damping for quadratic Klein-Gordon in 3D

We consider Klein-Gordon equations with an external potential $V$ and a quadratic nonlinearity in $3+1$ space dimensions. We assume that $V$ is regular and decaying and that the (massive) Schrödinger operator $H=-Δ+V+m^2$ has a positive eigenvalue $λ^2<m^2$ with associated eigenfunction $ϕ.$ This is a so-called internal mode and gives rise to time-periodic and spatially localized solutions of the linear flow. We address the classical question of whether such solutions persist under the full nonlinear flow, and describe the behavior of all solutions in a suitable neighborhood of zero. Provided a natural Fermi-Golden rule holds, our main result shows that a solution to the nonlinear Klein-Gordon equation can be decomposed into a discrete component $a(t)ϕ$ where $a(t)$ decays over time, and a continuous component $v$ which has some weak dispersive properties. We obtain precise asymptotic information on these components such as the sharp rates of decay $\vert a(t) \vert \approx t^{-1/2}$ and ${\| v(t) \|}_{L^\infty_x} \approx t^{-1}$, (where the implicit constants are independent of the small size of the data) as well as the growth of a natural weighted norm of the profile of $v.$ In particular, our result extends the seminal work of Soffer-Weinstein for the cubic Klein-Gordon, and shows that radiation damping also occurs in the quadratic case.

Spectral projectors, resolvent, and Fourier restriction on the hyperbolic space

We develop a unified approach to proving $L^p-L^q$ boundedness of spectral projectors, the resolvent of the Laplace-Beltrami operator and its derivative on $\mathbb{H}^d.$ In the case of spectral projectors, and when $p$ and $q$ are in duality, the dependence of the implicit constant on $p$ is shown to be sharp. We also give partial results on the question of $L^p-L^q$ boundedness of the Fourier extension operator. As an application, we prove smoothing estimates for the free Schrödinger equation on $\mathbb{H}^d$ and a limiting absorption principle for the electromagnetic Schrödinger equation with small potentials.

Spectral projectors on hyperbolic surfaces

In this paper, we prove $L^2 \to L^p$ estimates, where $p>2$, for spectral projectors on a wide class of hyperbolic surfaces. More precisely, we consider projections in small spectral windows $[λ-η,λ+η]$ on geometrically finite hyperbolic surfaces of infinite volume. In the convex cocompact case, we obtain optimal bounds with respect to $λ$ and $η$, up to subpolynomial losses. The proof combines the resolvent bound of Bourgain-Dyatlov and improved estimates for the Schrödinger group (Strichartz and smoothing estimates) on hyperbolic surfaces.

Internal mode-induced growth in $3$d nonlinear Klein-Gordon equations

This note complements the paper \cite{LP} by proving a scattering statement for solutions of nonlinear Klein-Gordon equations with an internal mode in $3$d. We show that small solutions exhibit growth around a one-dimensional set in frequency space and become of order one in $L^{\infty}$ after a short transient time. The dynamics are driven by the feedback of the internal mode into the equation for the field (continuous spectral) component. The main part of the proof consists of showing suitable smallness for a "good" component of the radiation field. This is done in two steps: first, using the machinery developed in \cite{LP}, we reduce the problem to bounding a certain quadratic normal form correction. Then we control this latter by establishing some refined estimates for certain bilinear operators with singular kernels.

3D quadratic NLS equation with electromagnetic perturbations

In this paper we study the asymptotic behavior of a quadratic Schrödinger equation with electromagnetic potentials. We prove that small solutions scatter. The proof builds on earlier work of the author for quadratic NLS with a non magnetic potential. The main novelty is the use of various smoothing estimates for the linear Schrödinger flow in place of boundedness of wave operators to deal with the loss of derivative. As a byproduct of the proof we obtain boundedness of the wave operator of the linear electromagnetic Schrödinger equation on an $L^2$ weighted space for small potentials, as well as a dispersive estimate for the corresponding flow.

Global existence and scattering for quadratic NLS with potential in 3D

In this article we study the asymptotic behavior of a quadratic NLS equation with small, time-dependent potential and small spatially localized initial data. We prove global existence and scattering of solutions. The two main ingredients of the proof are the space-time resonance method and the boundedness of wave operators for the linear Schrödinger equation with potential.

Backward self-similar solutions for compressible Navier-Stokes equations

This article is devoted to backward self-similar blow up solutions of the compressible Navier-Stokes equations with radial symmetry. We show that such solutions cannot exist if they either satisfy an appropriate smallness condition, or have finite energy. Furthermore, numerical simulations lead us to the conjecture that such solutions do not exist.

Scattering for a particle interacting with a Bose gas

We study the asymptotic behavior of solutions to an ODE - Schrödinger type system that models the interaction of a particle with a Bose gas. We show that the particle has a ballistic trajectory asymptotically, and that the wave function describing the Bose gas converges to a soliton in $L^{\infty}.$
