k-Gauss-Bonnet inflation

We propose a novel {\it k}-Gauss-Bonnet inflationary model, in which a kinetic term of scalar field is allowed to non-minimally couple to the Gauss-Bonnet topological invariant in the absence of a potential of scalar field. As a result, this model is shown to admit an isotropic power-law inflation provided that the scalar field is phantom. Furthermore, stability analysis based on the dynamical system method is performed to indicate that this inflation solution is indeed stable and attractive. More interestingly, a gradient instability in tensor perturbations is shown to disappear in this model.

Anisotropic hyperbolic inflation for a model of two scalar and two vector fields

In this paper, we extend a recent proposed model of two scalar and two vector fields to a hyperbolic inflation scenario, in which the field space of two scalar fields is a hyperbolic space instead of a flat space. In this model, one of the scalar fields is assumed to be a radial field, while the other is set as an angular field. Furthermore, both scalar fields will be coupled to two different vector fields, respectively. As a result, we are able to obtain a set of exact Bianchi type I solutions to this model. Stability analysis is also performed to show that this set of anisotropic solutions is indeed stable and attractive during the inflationary phase. This result indicates that the cosmic no-hair conjecture is extensively violated in this anisotropic hyperbolic inflation model.

No-go theorem for inflation in an extended Ricci-inverse gravity model

In this paper, we propose an extension of the Ricci-inverse gravity, which has been proposed recently as a very novel type of fourth-order gravity, by introducing a second order term of the so-called anticurvature scalar as a correction. The main purpose of this paper is that we would like to see whether the extended Ricci-inverse gravity model admits the homogeneous and isotropic Friedmann-Lemaitre-Robertson-Walker metric as its stable inflationary solution. However, a no-go theorem for inflation in this extended Ricci-inverse gravity is shown to appear through a stability analysis based on the dynamical system method. As a result, this no-go theorem implies that it is impossible to have such stable inflation in this extended Ricci-inverse gravity model.

Anisotropic constant-roll inflation for the Dirac-Born-Infeld model

In this paper, we study a non-canonical extension of a supergravity-motivated model acting as a vivid counterexample to the cosmic no-hair conjecture due to its unusual coupling between scalar and electromagnetic fields. In particular, a canonical scalar field is replaced by the string-inspired Dirac-Born-Infeld one in this extension. As a result, exact anisotropic inflationary solutions for this Dirac-Born-Infeld model are figured out under a constant-roll condition. Furthermore, numerical calculations are performed to verify that these anisotropic constant-roll solutions are indeed attractive during their inflationary phase.

Anisotropic power-law inflation for a model of two scalar and two vector fields

Inspired by an interesting counterexample to the cosmic no-hair conjecture found in a supergravity-motivated model recently, we propose a multi-field extension, in which two scalar fields are allowed to non-minimally couple to two vector fields, respectively. This model is shown to admit an exact Bianchi type I power-law solution. Furthermore, stability analysis based on the dynamical system method is performed to show that this anisotropic solution is indeed stable and attractive if both scalar fields are canonical. Nevertheless, if one of the two scalar fields is phantom then the corresponding anisotropic power-law inflation turns unstable as expected.

No-go theorem for inflation in Ricci-inverse gravity

We study a recent proposed Ricci-inverse gravity, which is a very novel type of fourth-order gravity. In particular, we are able to figure out both isotropically and anisotropically inflating universes to this model. More interestingly, these solutions are free from a singularity problem. However, stability analysis based on the dynamical system method shows that both isotropic and anisotropic inflation of this model turn out to be unstable against field perturbations. This result implies a no-go theorem for both isotropic and anisotropic inflation in the Ricci-inverse gravity.

CMB imprints of non-canonical anisotropic inflation

Effect of non-canonical scalar fields on the CMB imprints of the anisotropic inflation will be discussed in details in this paper. In particular, we are able to obtain the general formalism of the angular power spectra in the scalar perturbations, tensor perturbations, cross-correlations, and linear polarization in the context of the anisotropic inflation model involving non-canonical scalar fields. Furthermore, some significant numerical spectra will be plotted using the most recent data of Planck as well as the BICEP2 and Keck array. As a result, we find a very interesting point that the $TT$ spectra induced by the tensor perturbations as well as by the linear polarization will increase when the speed of sound decreases.

Stable small spatial hairs in a power-law k-inflation model

In this paper, we extend our investigation of the validity of the cosmic no-hair conjecture within non-canonical anisotropic inflation. As a result, we are able to figure out an exact Bianchi type I solution to a power-law {\it k}-inflation model in the presence of unusual coupling between scalar and electromagnetic fields as $-f^2(ϕ)F_{μν}F^{μν}/4$. Furthermore, stability analysis based on the dynamical system method indicates that the obtained solution does admit stable and attractive hairs during an inflationary phase and therefore violates the cosmic no-hair conjecture. Finally, we show that the corresponding tensor-to-scalar ratio of this model turns out to be highly consistent with the observational data of the Planck 2018.

No small hairs in anisotropic power-law Gauss-Bonnet inflation

We will examine whether anisotropic hairs exist in a string-inspired scalar-Gauss-Bonnet gravity model with the absence of potential of scalar field during the inflationary phase. As a result, we are able to obtain the Bianchi type I power-law solution to this model under the assumption that the scalar field acts as the phantom field, whose kinetic is negative definite. However, the obtained anisotropic hair of this model turns out to be large, which is inconsistent with the observational data. We will therefore introduce a nontrivial coupling between scalar and vector fields such as $f^2(ϕ)F_{μν}F^{μν}$ into the scalar-Gauss-Bonnet model with the expectation that the anisotropic hair would be reduced to a small one. Unfortunately, the magnitude of the obtained anisotropic hair is still large. These results indicate that the scalar-Gauss-Bonnet gravity model with the absence of potential of scalar field might not be suitable to generate small anisotropic hairs during the inflationary phase.

On the validity of cosmic no-hair conjecture in an anisotropic inflationary model

We will present main results of our recent investigations on the validity of cosmic no-hair conjecture proposed by Hawking and his colleagues long time ago in the framework of an anisotropic inflationary model proposed by Kanno, Soda, and Watanabe. As a result, we will show that the cosmic no-hair conjecture seems to be generally violated in the Kanno-Soda-Watanabe model for both canonical and non-canonical scalar fields due to the existence of a non-trivial coupling term between scalar and electromagnetic fields. However, we will also show that the validity of the cosmic no-hair conjecture will be ensured once a unusual scalar field called the phantom field, whose kinetic energy term is negative definite, is introduced into the Kanno-Soda-Watanabe model.

Anisotropic power-law inflation for a conformal-violating Maxwell model

A set of power-law solutions of a conformal-violating Maxwell model with a non-standard scalar-vector coupling will be shown in this paper. In particular, we are interested in a coupling term of the form $X^{2n} F^{μν}F_{μν}$ with $X$ denoting the kinetic term of the scalar field. Stability analysis indicates that the new set of anisotropic power-law solutions is unstable during the inflationary phase. The result is consistent with the cosmic no-hair conjecture. We show, however, that a set of stable slowly expanding solutions does exist for a small range of parameters $λ$ and $n$. Hence a small anisotropy can survive during the slowly expanding phase.

Anisotropic power-law inflation in a two-scalar-field model with a mixed kinetic term

We examine whether an extended scenario of a two-scalar-field model, in which a mixed kinetic term of canonical and phantom scalar fields is involved, admits the Bianchi type I metric, which is homogeneous but anisotropic spacetime, as its power-law solutions. Then we analyze the stability of the anisotropic power-law solutions to see whether these solutions respect the cosmic no-hair conjecture or not during the inflationary phase. In addition, we will also investigate a special scenario, where the pure kinetic terms of canonical and phantom fields disappear altogether in field equations, to test again the validity of cosmic no-hair conjecture. As a result, the cosmic no-hair conjecture always holds in both these scenarios due to the instability of the corresponding anisotropic inflationary solutions.

On five-dimensional massive (bi-)gravity

Main results of our recent investigations on five-dimensional scenarios of massive (bi-)gravity will be summarized in this article. In particular, we will show how to construct higher dimensional massive graviton terms from the characteristic equation of square matrix, which is a consequence of the Cayley-Hamilton theorem. Then, we will show whether massive graviton terms of five-dimensional massive (bi-)gravity behave as effective cosmological constants for a number of physical metrics compatible with fiducial ones such as the Friedmann-Lemaitre-Robertson-Walker, Bianchi type I, and Schwarzschild-Tangherlini metrics. Finally, we will show the corresponding cosmological solutions for the five-dimensional massive (bi-)gravity.

Higher dimensional massive bigravity

We study higher dimensional scenarios of massive bigravity, which is a very interesting extension of nonlinear massive gravity since its reference metric is assumed to be full dynamical. In particular, the Einstein field equations along with the following constraint equations for both physical and reference metrics of a five-dimensional massive bigravity will be addressed. Then, we study some well-known cosmological spacetimes such as the Friedmann-Lemaitre-Robertson-Walker, Bianchi type I, and Schwarzschild-Tangherlini metrics for the five-dimensional massive bigravity. As a result, we find that massive graviton terms will serve as effective cosmological constants in both physical and reference sectors if a special scenario, in which reference metrics are chosen to be proportional to physical ones, is considered for all mentioned metrics. Thanks to the constancy property of massive graviton terms, consistent cosmological solutions will be figured out accordingly.

Higher dimensional nonlinear massive gravity

Inspired by a recent ghost-free nonlinear massive gravity in four-dimensional spacetime, we study its higher dimensional scenarios. As a result, we are able to show the constant-like behavior of massive graviton terms for some well-known metrics such as the Friedmann-Lemaitre-Robertson-Walker, Bianchi type I, and Schwarzschild-Tangherlini-(A)dS metrics in a specific five-dimensional nonlinear massive gravity under an assumption that its fiducial metrics are compatible with physical ones. In addition, some simple cosmological solutions of the five-dimensional massive gravity will be figured out consistently.
