Hidden Fermion in Stueckelberg Z' Models as Milli-charged Dark Matter

The hidden Stueckelberg Z' model is augmented by a pair of Dirac fermions. If the Z' has a coupling strength comparable to weak scale coupling, one can show that this hidden fermion-antifermion pair could be a milli-charged dark matter candidate with a viable relic density. Monochromatic photon flux coming from the Galactic center due to pair annihilation of these milli-charged particles is calculated and is shown to be within reach of the next generation gamma-ray experiments. Characteristic collider signature of this theoretical endeavor is that the Stueckelberg Z' boson has a large invisible width decaying into the hidden fermion-antifermion pair if kinematically allowed. Singly production of this Z' boson at the LHC and ILC are studied.

Collider signatures for unparticle

We summarize the works presented in Refs. \cite{1,2} on collider phenomenology of the unparticle physics associated with an exact scale invariant sector possessing a non-trivial infrared fixed point at a high energy scale. We give highlights on the motivations of unparticle and derivation of the phase space and the unparticle propagator. We study two categories of phenomenology: (i) real emission of unparticle that gives rise to peculiar missing energy signatures, and (ii) virtual exchange of unparticle that interferes with the standard model amplitudes.

Bottomed Analog of Z+(4433)

The newly observed $Z^+ (4433)$ resonance by BELLE is believed to be a tetraquark bound state made up of $(cu)(\bar c \bar d)$. We propose the bottomed analog of this bound state, namely, by replacing one of the charm quarks by a bottom quark, thus forming $Z_{bc}^{0, \pm, \pm\pm}$. One of the $Z_{bc}$ is doubly charged. The predicted mass of $Z_{bc}$ is around 7.6 GeV. This doubly-charged bound state can be detected by its decay into $B_c^\pm π^\pm$. Similarly, we can also replace both charm quark and antiquark of the $Z^+ (4433)$ by bottom quark and antiquark, respectively, thus forming $Z_{bb}$ the bottomonium analog of $Z^+ (4433)$. The predicted mass of $Z_{bb}$ is about 10.7 GeV.

Collider signals in unparticle physics

Phenomenology of the notion of an unparticle U, recently perceived by Georgi, to describe a scale invariant sector with a non-trivial infrared fixed point at a higher energy scale is explored in details. Behaving like a collection of d_U (the scale dimension of the unparticle operator O_U) invisible massless particles, this unparticle can be unveiled by measurements of various energy distributions for the processes Z to fermion pair + U and e-e+ to gamma U at e-e+ colliders, as well as mono-jet production at hadron colliders. We also study the propagator effects of the unparticle through the Drell-Yan tree level process and the one-loop muon anomaly.

CP violation in Charged Higgs Bosons decays $H^\pm \to W^\pm (γ, Z)$ in the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM)

One loop mediated charged Higgs bosons decays $H^\pm\to W^\pm V$, $V= Z, γ$ are studied in the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM) with and without CP violating phases. We evaluate the MSSM contributions to these processes taking into account $B\to X_sγ$ constraint as well as experimental constraints on the MSSM parameters. In the MSSM, we found that in the intermediate range of $\tanβ\la 10$ and for large A_t and large $μ$, where the lightest top squark becomes very light and hence non-decoupled, the branching ratio of $H^\pm \to W^{\pm} Z$ can be of the order 10^{-3} while the branching ratio of $H^\pm \to W^{\pm} γ$ is of the order 10^{-5}. We found also that the CP violating phases of soft SUSY parameters can modify the branching ratio by about one order of magnitude. We also show that MSSM with CP violating phases lead to CP-violating asymmetry in the decays $H^+ \to W^+V$ and $H^- \to W^-V$. Such CP asymmetry can be rather large and can reach 80% in some region of parameter space.

Collider Phenomenology of Unparticle Physics

Low energy phenomenology of the unparticle physics associated with an exact scale invariant sector possessing a non-trivial infrared fixed point at a higher energy scale is explored for both electron-positron and hadronic colliders. Feynman rules for a spin 0, 1 or 2 unparticle coupled to a variety of standard model gauge invariant operators that are relevant to many low energy processes involving either real emissions of unparticles or their virtual propagator effects are presented. Missing energy and/or recoil mass distributions of the unparticle in the associated production of unparticle together with a photon or $Z$ boson at LEP2 and ILC as well as in $Z$ decay into an unparticle plus a fermion-antifermion pair are studied. Monojet production at hadronic collisions is explored. The complex phase in the unparticle propagator that can give rise to interesting interference effects between an unparticle exchange diagram and the standard model amplitudes are studied in details for the Drell-Yan process as well as muon pair and diphoton production in electron-positron annihilation. These energy and/or recoil mass distributions (with the exception in hadron colliders) and interference effects are found sensitively depending not only on the scale dimension but also on the spin of the unparticle. For the spin-2 unparticle, its physical effects is found to resemble that of a tower of Kaluza-Klein gravitons, which strongly indicates that the underlying unparticle physics may have root in a higher dimensional theory. A connection between unparticle physics and theories of large extra dimension is speculated. Experimental constraints on the unparticle scale are deduced from the LEP2 data on mono-photon production and from the 4-fermion contact interactions.

f_0(1710) production in exclusive B decays

Production of $f_0(1710)$, a theoretical endeavor of pure scalar glueball state, is studied in detail from exclusive rare B decay within the framework of perturbative QCD. The branching fraction for $B^\pm \to K^{*\pm} f_0(1710) \to K^{*\pm} (K \bar K)$ is estimated to be about $8 \times 10^{-6}$, while for $B^\pm \to K^\pm f_0(1710) \to K^\pm (K \bar K)$ it is smaller by roughly an order of magnitude. With the accumulation of almost 1 billion $B \bar B$ pairs from the B{\tiny A}B{\tiny AR} and Belle experiments to date, hunting for a scalar glueball via these rare decay modes should be attainable.

Hidden fermion as milli-charged dark matter in Stueckelberg Z' model

We augment the hidden Stueckelberg $Z'$ model by a pair of Dirac fermions in the hidden sector, in which the $Z'$ has a coupling strength comparable to weak scale coupling. We show that this hidden fermion-antifermion pair could be a milli-charged dark matter candidate with a viable relic density. Existing terrestrial and astrophysical searches on milli-charged particles do not place severe constraints on this hidden fermion. We calculate the flux of monochromatic photons coming from the Galactic center due to pair annihilation of these milli-charged particles and show that it is within reach of the next generation $γ$-ray experiments. The characteristic signature of this theoretical endeavor is that the Stueckelberg $Z'$ boson has a large invisible width decaying into the hidden fermion-antifermion pair. We show that existing Drell-Yan data do not constrain this model yet. Various channels of singly production of this $Z'$ boson at the LHC and ILC are explored.

Glueball Production via Gluonic Penguin B Decays

We study glueball G production in gluonic penguin decay B -> X_s G, using next-to-leading order b -> s g^* gluonic penguin interaction and an effective coupling of a glueball to two gluons. The effective coupling allows us to study the decay rate of a glueball to two pseudoscalars in the framework of chiral perturbation theory. Identifying the f_0(1710) to be a scalar glueball, we then determine the effective coupling strength with the branching ratio of f_0(1710) -> K KBar. We find that the charm penguin to be important and obtain a sizable branching ratio for Br(B -> X_s G) in the range of (0.7 - 1.7) \times 10^{-4}. Rare hadronic B decay data from BaBar and Belle can provide important information about glueballs.

Novel Collider Signatures for Little Higgs Dark Matter Models

Little Higgs models with $T$-parity provide a stable neutral particle $A_H$, the lightest $T$-odd particle (LTP), which was recently proposed to explain the cold dark matter of the Universe. In the coannihilation region of the LTP with the Little Higgs partner of the light quark $Q_H$, we propose novel signatures for its detection at hadronic colliders by searching for monojet and dijet plus missing energy events due to the associated production of $Q_H A_H$ and direct production of $Q_H \bar{Q}_H$, respectively. Using the most recent WMAP data, we show that the coupling of $A_H$-$Q_H$-$q$ is tightly constrained in the coannihilation region. This implies that the monojet signal is too small to be discernible but the dijet plus missing energy signal is potentially measurable at the LHC.

Single Top-Quark Production in Flavor-Changing Z' Models

In some models with an extra U(1) gauge boson Z', the gauge couplings of the Z' to different generations of fermions may not be universal. Flavor mixing in general can be induced at the tree level in the up-type and/or down-type quark sector after diagonalizing their mass matrices. In this work, we concentrate on the flavor mixing in the up-type quark sector. We deduce a constraint from D0-D0bar mixing. We study in detail single top-quark production via flavor-changing Z' exchange at the LHC and the ILC. We found that for a typical value of M_{Z'}=1 TeV, the production cross section at the LHC can be of the order of 1 fb. However, the background from the Standard Model single top-quark production makes it difficult to detect the flavor-changing Z' signal unless with a decent charm tagging method. On the other hand, at the ILC, the production cross section at the resonance energy of \sqrt{s} \approx M_{Z'} can reach a size of more than 100 fb. Even away from the resonance, the cross section at ILC is shown to be larger than the threshold of observability of 0.01 fb.
