We describe the strong asymptotic behavior of type I and type II multiple orthogonal polynomials which were used to give an integral expression for a transition probability function corresponding to a queueing models that has a bulk service admitting batches with a fixed size of customers.
We consider a stationary Markov process that models certain queues with a bulk service of a fixed number $m$ of admitted customers. We find an integral expression of its transition probability function in terms of certain multi-orthogonal polynomials with respect to a system of distributions that contain measures supported on starlike subsets of the complex plane. We also study the corresponding steady state.
We consider the relation of the multi-component 2D Toda hierarchy with matrix orthogonal and biorthogonal polynomials. The multi-graded Hankel reduction of this hierarchy is considered and the corresponding generalized matrix orthogonal polynomials are studied. In particular for these polynomials we consider the recursion relations, and for rank one weights its relation with multiple orthogonal polynomials of mixed type with a type II normalization and the corresponding link with a Riemann--Hilbert problem.
