Radiative seesaw in left-right symmetric model

There are some radiative origins for the neutrino masses in the conventional left-right symmetric models with the usual bi-doublet and triplet Higgs scalars. These radiative contributions could dominate over the tree-level seesaw and could explain the observed neutrino masses.

Radiative Neutrino Mass, Dark Matter and Leptogenesis

We propose an extension of the standard model, in which neutrinos are Dirac particles and their tiny masses originate from a one-loop radiative diagram. The new fields required by the neutrino mass-generation also accommodate the explanation for the matter-antimatter asymmetry and dark matter in the universe.

Left-Right Symmetric Model of Neutrino Dark Energy

We implemented the neutrino dark energy proposal in a left-right symmetric model. Unlike earlier models of mass varying neutrinos, in the present model the mass parameter that depends on the scalar field (acceleron) remains very light naturally. The required neutrino masses then predicts the U(1)_R breaking scale to be in the TeV range, providing new signals for LHC. Compared to all other neutrino dark energy proposals, this model has the added advantage that it can also be embedded into a grand unified theory. In this scenario leptogenesis occurs through decays of scalars at very high energy.

SO(10) GUT Baryogenesis

Baryogenesis, through the decays of heavy bosons, was considered to be one of the major successes of the grand unified theories (GUTs). It was then realized that the sphaleron processes erased any baryon asymmetry from the GUT-baryogenesis at a later stage. In this paper, we discuss the idea of resurrecting GUT-baryogenesis in a large class of SO(10) GUTs. Our analysis shows that fast lepton number violating but baryon number conserving processes can partially wash out the GUT-baryogenesis produced lepton and/or baryon asymmetry associated with or without the sphaleron and/or Yukawa interactions.

Type-II Seesaw at Collider, Lepton Asymmetry and Singlet Scalar Dark Matter

We propose an extension of the standard model with a B-L global symmetry that is broken softly at the TeV scale. The neutrinos acquire masses through a type-II seesaw while the lepton (L) asymmetry arises in the {\it singlet sector} but without B-L violation. The model has the virtue that the scale of L-number violation ($Λ$) giving rise to neutrino masses is independent of the scale of leptogenesis ($Λ'$). As a result the model can explain {\it neutrino masses, singlet scalar dark matter and leptogenesis at the TeV scale}. The stability of the dark matter is ensured by a surviving $Z_2$ symmetry, which could be lifted at the Planck scale and thereby allowing Planck scale-suppressed decay of singlet scalar dark matter particles of mass $\approx 3$ MeV to $e^+ e^-$ pairs in the Galactic halo. The model also predicts a few hundred GeV doubly charged scalar and a long lived charged fermion, whose decay can be studied at Large Hadron Collider (LHC) and International Linear Collider (ILC).

B-L Conserved Baryogenesis

In the presence of anomaly induced sphaleron process, only a B-L asymmetry can be partially converted to the baryon asymmetry while any B+L asymmetry would be completely erased. Thus in any successful baryogenesis theories, B-L is usually violated above the electroweak scale to explain the observed matter-antimatter asymmetry of the universe. However, if any lepton asymmetry is not affected by the sphaleron processes, a B-L conserved theory can still realize the baryogenesis. We present here an SU(5) GUT realization of this scenario, which naturally accommodates small masses of Dirac neutrinos.

Importance of neutrinoless double beta decay

A natural explanation for the smallness of the neutrino mass requires them to be Majorana particles violating lepton number by two units. Since lepton number violation can have several interesting consequences in particle physics and cosmology, it is of utmost importance to find out if there is lepton number violation in nature and what is its magnitude. The neutrinoless double beta decay experiment can answer these questions: if there is lepton number violation and if neutrinos are Majorana particles. In addition, the magnitude of neutrinoless double beta decay will constrain any other lepton number violating processes. This lepton number violation may also be relatd to the matter-antimatter asymmetry of the universe, dark matter and cosmological constant.

Leptogenesis, Dark Energy, Dark Matter and the neutrinos

In this review we discuss how the models of neutrino masses can accommodate solutions to the problem of matter-antimatter asymmetry in the universe, dark energy or cosmological constant problem and dark matter candidates. The matter-antimatter asymmetry is explained by leptogenesis, originating from the lepton number violation associated with the neutrino masses. The dark energy problem is correlated with a mass varying neutrinos, which could originate from a pseudo-Nambu-Goldstone boson. In some radiative models of neutrino masses, there exists a Higgs doublet that does not acquire any vacuum expectation value. This field could be inert and the lightest inert particle could then be a dark matter candidate. We reviewed these scenarios in connection with models of neutrino masses with right-handed neutrinos and with triplet Higgs scalars.

Realistic Neutrinogenesis with Radiative Vertex Correction

We propose a new model for naturally light Dirac neutrinos and explain the baryon asymmetry of the universe through neutrinogenesis. We extend the standard model with a real singlet scalar, a heavy singlet Dirac fermion and a heavy doublet scalar besides three right-handed neutrinos, respecting lepton number conservation and a Z_2 symmetry. The neutrinos acquire small Dirac masses due to the suppression of the weak scale over the heavy mass scale. As a key feature of our construction, once the heavy Dirac fermion and doublet scalar go out of equilibrium, their decays induce the CP asymmetry from the interference of tree-level processes with the \textit{radiative vertex corrections} (rather than the self-energy corrections). Although there is no lepton number violation, an equal and opposite amount of CP asymmetry is generated in the left-handed and the right-handed neutrinos. The left-handed lepton asymmetry would then be converted to the baryon asymmetry in the presence of the sphalerons, while the right-handed lepton asymmetry remains unaffected.

Dirac Neutrinos, Dark Energy and Baryon Asymmetry

We explore a new origin of neutrino dark energy and baryon asymmetry in the universe. The neutrinos acquire small masses through the Dirac seesaw mechanism. The pseudo-Nambu-Goldstone boson associated with neutrino mass-generation provides a candidate for dark energy. The puzzle of cosmological baryon asymmetry is resolved via neutrinogenesis.

Leptogenesis, Dark Matter and Higgs Phenomenology at TeV

We propose an interesting model of neutrino masses to realize leptogenesis and dark matter at the TeV scale. A real scalar is introduced to naturally realize the Majorana masses of the right-handed neutrinos. We also include a new Higgs doublet that contributes to the dark matter of the universe. The neutrino masses come from the vacuum expectation value of the triplet Higgs scalar. The right-handed neutrinos are not constrained by the neutrino masses and hence they could generate leptogenesis at the TeV scale without subscribing to resonant leptogenesis. In our model, all new particles could be observable at the forthcoming Large Hardon Collider or the proposed future International Linear Collider.

Neutrino Dark Energy and Baryon Asymmetry from Higgs Sector

We propose a new model to explain the neutrino masses, the dark energy and the baryon asymmetry altogether. In this model, neutrinos naturally acquire small Majorana masses via type-II seesaw mechanism, while the pseudo-Nambu-Goldstone bosons associated with the neutrino mass-generation mechanism provide attractive candidates for dark energy. The baryon asymmetry of the universe is produced from the Higgs triplets decay with CP-violation.

Predictive model for dark matter, dark energy, neutrino masses and leptogenesis at the TeV scale

We propose a new mechanism of TeV scale leptogenesis where the chemical potential of right-handed electron is passed on to the $B-L$ asymmetry of the Universe in the presence of sphalerons. The model has the virtue that the origin of neutrino masses are independent of the scale of leptogenesis. As a result, the model could be extended to explain {\it dark matter, dark energy, neutrino masses and leptogenesis at the TeV scale}. The most attractive feature of this model is that it predicts a few hundred GeV triplet Higgs scalar that can be tested at LHC or ILC.

Revelations of the E_6/U(1)_N Model: Two-Loop Neutrino Mass and Dark Matter

The E_6/U(1)_N gauge extension of the Supersymmetric Standard Model, first proposed by Ma, is shown to have exactly the requisite ingredients to realize the important new idea that dark matter is the origin of neutrino mass. With the implementation of a discrete Z_2 X Z_2 symmetry, and particle content given by three {27} representations of E_6, neutrino masses are naturally generated in two loops, with candidates of dark matter in the loops. All particles of this model are expected to be at or below the TeV scale, allowing them to be observable at the LHC.

Low Intermediate Scales for Leptogenesis in Supersymmetric SO(10) Grand Unified Theories

A low intermediate scale within minimal supersymmetric SO(10) GUTs is a desirable feature to accommodate leptogenesis. We explore this possibility in models where the intermediate gauge symmetry breaks spontaneously by (a) doublet Higgs scalars and also (b) by triplets. In both scenarios gauge coupling unification requires the scale of left-right symmetry breaking ($M_R$) to be close to the unification scale. This will entail unnaturally small neutrino Yukawa couplings to avoid the gravitino problem and allow successful leptogenesis. We point out that any one of three options -- threshold corrections due to the mass spectrum near the unification scale, gravity induced non-renormalizable operators near the Planck scale, or presence of additional light Higgs multiplets -- can permit unification along with much lower values of $M_R$ as required for leptogenesis. In the triplet model, independent of these corrections, we find a lower bound on the intermediate scale, $M_R > 10^9$ GeV, arising from the requirement that the theory must remain perturbative at least upto the GUT scale. We show that in the doublet model $M_R$ can even be in the TeV region which, apart from permitting resonant leptogenesis, can be tested at LHC and ILC.

Low-Energy Thermal Leptogenesis in an Extended NMSSM Model

Thermal leptogenesis in the canonical seesaw model in supersymmetry suffers from the incompatibility of a generic lower bound on the mass scale of the lightest right-handed neutrino and the upper bound on the reheating temperature of the Universe after inflation. This is resolved by adding an extra singlet superfield, with a discrete $Z_2$ symmetry, to the NMSSM (Next to Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model). This generic mechanism is applicable to any supersymmetric model for lowering the scale of leptogenesis.

Leptogenesis bound on neutrino masses in left-right symmetric models with spontaneous D-parity violation

We study the baryogenesis via leptogenesis in a class of left-right symmetric models, in which $D$-parity is broken spontaneously. We first discuss the consequence of the spontaneous $D$-parity breaking on the neutrino masses. Than we study the lepton asymmetry in various cases, from the decay of right handed neutrino as well as the triplet Higgs, depending on their relative masses they acquire from the symmetry breaking pattern. The leptogenesis bound on their masses are discussed by taking into account the low energy neutrino oscillation data. It is shown that a TeV scale leptogenesis is viable if there are additional sources of CP violation like domain wall originating from the spontaneous $D$-parity violation.

Leptogenesis and low energy CP phases with two heavy neutrinos

An attractive explanation for non-zero neutrino masses and small matter antimatter asymmetry of the present Universe lies in "leptogenesis". At present the {\it size} of the lepton asymmetry is precisely known, while the {\it sign} is not known yet. In this work we determine the sign of this asymmetry in the framework of two right handed neutrino models by relating the leptogenesis phase(s) with the low energy CP violating phases appearing in the leptonic mixing matrix. It is shown that the knowledge of low energy lepton number violating re-phasing invariants can indeed determine the sign of the present matter antimatter asymmetry of the Universe and hence indirectly probing the light physical neutrinos to be Majorana type.
