Causal Intelligence for Constraint-Aware Intervention Design to Induce State Transitions

Driving a system from one state to another through targeted interventions is a fundamental challenge in science, yet most predictive models offer limited mechanistic insight and no principled framework for decision-making. Here we present COAST (Causally Optimal Actions for State Transitions), a causal-intelligence approach for the in-silico design of constrained interventions that induce user-defined state transitions. Given data characterizing source and target states, COAST learns context-specific causal graphs and structural causal models, attributes observed distributional shifts to mechanism-level causal drivers, and introduces a novel constraint-aware multi-objective optimization formulation that balances transition efficacy, intervention complexity, and target-state stability. The approach is modular and domain-agnostic, integrating feature selection, causal discovery, causal modeling, and intervention identification and evaluation through interchangeable components. Across synthetic benchmarks and real biological datasets, COAST recovers key causal drivers and identifies robust single- and multi-target intervention strategies that achieve desired state transitions, accompanied by transparent mechanistic rationales to guide experimental validation.

Integration of the SL(2,R)/U(1) Gauged WZNW Model with Periodic Boundary Conditions

Gauged WZNW models are integrable conformal field theories. We integrate the classical \slu{} theory with periodic boundary conditions, which describes closed strings moving in a curved target-space geometry. We calculate its Poisson bracket structure by solving an initial state problem. The results differ from previous field-theoretic calculations due to zero modes. For a future exact canonical quantization the physical fields are (non-locally) transformed onto canonical free fields.

The Complete Solution of the Classical SL(2,R)/U(1) Gauged WZNW Field Theory

We prove that any gauged WZNW model has a Lax pair representation, and give explicitly the general solution of the classical equations of motion of the SL(2,R)/U(1) theory. We calculate the symplectic structure of this solution by solving a differential equation of the Gelfand-Dikii type with initial state conditions at infinity, and transform the canonical physical fields non-locally onto canonical free fields. The results will, finally, be collected in a local Bäcklund transformation. These calculations prepare the theory for an exact canonical quantization.

A Basis for Invariants in Non-Abelian Gauge Theories

An algorithm is described to convert Lorentz and gauge invariant expressions in non--Abelian gauge theories with matter into a standard form, consisting of a linear combination of basis invariants. This algorithm is needed for computer calculations of effective actions. The defining properties of the basis invariants are reported. The number of basis invariants up to mass dimension 16 are presented.
