Many-body Fock sectors in Wick-Cutkosky model

In the model where two massive scalar particles interact by the ladder exchanges of massless scalar particles (Wick-Cutkosky model), we study in light-front dynamics the contributions of different Fock sectors (with increasing number of exchanged particles) to full normalization integral and electromagnetic form factor. It turns out that two-body sector always dominates. At small coupling constant $α\ll 1$, its contribution is close to 100%. It decreases with increase of $α$. For maximal value $α=2π$, corresponding to the zero bound state mass, two-body sector contributes to the normalization integral 64%, whereas the three-body contribution is 26% and the sum of all higher contributions from four- to infinite-body sectors is 10%. Contributions to the form factor from different Fock sectors fall off faster for asymptotically large $Q^2$, when the number of particles in the Fock sectors becomes larger. So, asymptotic behavior of the form factor is determined by the two-body Fock sector.

The covariant structure of light-front wave functions and the behavior of hadronic form factors

We study the analytic structure of light-front wave functions (LFWFs) and its consequences for hadron form factors using an explicitly Lorentz-invariant formulation of the front form. The normal to the light front is specified by a general null vector $ω^μ.$ The LFWFs with definite total angular momentum are eigenstates of a {\it kinematic} angular momentum operator and satisfy all Lorentz symmetries. They are analytic functions of the invariant mass squared of the constituents $M^2_0= (\sum k^μ)^2$ and the light-cone momentum fractions $x_i= {k_i\cd ω/ p \cd ω}$ multiplied by invariants constructed from the spin matrices, polarization vectors, and $ω^μ.$ These properties are illustrated using known nonperturbative eigensolutions of the Wick--Cutkosky model. We analyze the LFWFs introduced by Chung and Coester to describe static and low momentum properties of the nucleons. They correspond to the spin-locking of a quark with the spin of its parent nucleon, together with a positive-energy projection constraint. These extra constraints lead to anomalous dependence of form factors on $Q$ rather than $Q^2.$ In contrast, the dependence of LFWFs on $M^2_0$ implies that hadron form factors are analytic functions of $Q^2$ in agreement with dispersion theory and perturbative QCD. We show that a model incorporating the leading-twist perturbative QCD prediction is consistent with recent data for the ratio of proton Pauli and Dirac form factors.

Renormalized nonperturbative fermion model in Covariant Light Front Dynamics

Within the framework of the covariant formulation of Light-Front Dynamics, we develop a nonperturbative renormalization scheme in the fermion model supposing that the composite fermion is a superposition of the "bare" fermion and a fermion+boson state. We first assume the constituent boson to be spinless. Then we address the case of gauge bosons in the Feynman and in the Light-Cone gauges. For all these cases the fermion state vector and the necessary renormalization counterterms are calculated analytically. It turns out that in Light-Front Dynamics, to restore the rotational invariance, an extra counterterm is needed, having no any analogue in Feynman approach. For gauge bosons the results obtained in the two gauges are compared with each other. In general, the number of spin components of the two-body (fermion+boson) wave function depends on the gauge. But due to the two-body Fock space truncation, only one non-zero component survives for each gauge. And moreover, the whole solutions for the state vector, found for the Feynman and Light-Cone gauges, are the same (except for the normalization factor). The counterterms are however different

Critical stability of three-body relativistic bound states with zero-range interaction

For zero-range interaction providing a given mass M_2 of the two-body bound state, the mass M_3 of the relativistic three-body bound state is calculated. We have found that the three-body system exists only when M_2 is greater than a critical value M_c (approx. 1.43m for bosons and approx. 1.35m for fermions, m is the constituent mass). For M_2=M_c the mass M_3 turns into zero and for M_2<M_c there is no solution with real value of M_3.

Two-fermion relativistic bound states in Light-Front Dynamics

In the Light-Front Dynamics, the wave function equations and their numerical solutions, for two fermion bound systems, are presented. Analytical expressions for the ladder one-boson exchange interaction kernels corresponding to scalar, pseudoscalar, pseudovector and vector exchanges are given. Different couplings are analyzed separately and each of them is found to exhibit special features. The results are compared with the non relativistic solutions.

Spin zero particle propagator from a random walk in 3-D space

The propagator of a spin zero particle in coordinate space is derived supposing that the particle propagates rectilinearly always at the speed of light and changes its direction in some random points due to a scattering process. The average path between two scatterings is of the order of the Compton length.

The Centauro events as a result of induced pions emission

It is shown that only in the case of n pion production amplitude (at n > 10), which is symmetric enough relative to the momenta permutations, there is appreciable probability of events with nothing but charged or nothing but neutral pions. Significant enhancement of the probability of these events in comparison with that follows from Poisson distribution is caused by induced pions emission, in complete analogy with the phenomenon of the induced photon emission in QED.

Explicitly covariant light-front dynamics and some its applications

The light-front dynamics is an efficient approach to study of field theory and of relativistic composite systems (nuclei at relativistic relative nucleon momenta, hadrons in the quark models). The explicitly covariant version of this approach is briefly reviewed and illustrated by some applications.

Three-boson relativistic bound states with zero-range interaction

For the zero-range interaction providing a given mass M_2 of the two-body bound state, the mass M_3 of the relativistic three-boson state is calculated. We have found that the three-body system exists only when M_2 is greater than a critical value M_c approximately 1.43 m (m is the constituent mass). For M_2=M_c the mass M_3 turns into zero and for M_2<M_c there is no solution with real value of M_3.

Two-Body Bound States in Light-Front Dynamics

We present the main features of the explicitly covariant Light-Front Dynamics formalism and a summary of our recent works on this topic. They concern the bound states of two scalar particles in the Wick-Cutkosky model and of two fermions interacting via the usual OBEP ladder kernels.

Stability of two-fermion bound states in the explicitly covariant Light-Front Dynamics

The covariant light-front equations have been solved exactly for a two fermion system with different boson exchange ladder kernels. We present a method to study the cutoff dependence of these equations and to determine whether they need to be regularized or not. Results are presented for scalar and pseudo-scalar exchange. This latter furthermore exhibits some strange particularities which will be discussed.

Nonperturbative renormalization in a scalar model within Light-Front Dynamics

Within the covariant formulation of Light-Front Dynamics, in a scalar model with the interaction Hamiltonian $H=-gψ^{2}(x)ϕ(x)$, we calculate nonperturbatively the renormalized state vector of a scalar "nucleon" in a truncated Fock space containing the $N$, $Nπ$ and $Nππ$ sectors. The model gives a simple example of non-perturbative renormalization which is carried out numerically. Though the mass renormalization $δm^2$ diverges logarithmically with the cutoff $L$, the Fock components of the "physical" nucleon are stable when $L\to\infty$.

Stability of bound states in the light-front Yukawa model

We show that in the system of two fermions interacting by scalar exchange, the solutions for J$^π$=$0^+$ bound states are stable without any cutoff regularization, for values of the coupling constant $α$ below a critical value $α_c$. This latter is calculated from an eigenvalue equation.

Relativistic bound states in Yukawa model

The bound state solutions of two fermions interacting by a scalar exchange are obtained in the framework of the explicitly covariant light-front dynamics. The stability with respect to cutoff of the J$^π$=$0^+$ and J$^π$=$1^+$ states is studied. The solutions for J$^π$=$0^+$ are found to be stable for coupling constants $α={g^2\over4π}$ below the critical value $α_c\approx 3.72$ and unstable above it. The asymptotic behavior of the wave functions is found to follow a ${1\over k^{2+β}}$ law. The coefficient $β$ and the critical coupling constant $α_c$ are calculated from an eigenvalue equation. The binding energies for the J$^π$=$1^+$ solutions diverge logarithmically with the cutoff for any value of the coupling constant. For a wide range of cutoff, the states with different angular momentum projections are weakly split.

The charge and mass perturbative renormalization in explicitly covariant LFD

In several preceding studies, the explicitly covariant formulation of light front dynamics was developed and applied to many observables. In the present study we show how in this approach the renormalization procedure for the first radiative correction can be carried out in a standard way, after separating out the contributions depending on the orientation of the light-front plane. We calculate the renormalized QED vertices $γe^-\to e^-$ and $e^+e^-\to γ$ and the electron self-energy and recover, in a straightforward way, the well known analytical results obtained in the Feynman approach.
