Status and initial physics performance studies of the MPD experiment at NICA

The Nuclotron-base Ion Collider fAcility (NICA) is under construction at the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research (JINR), with commissioning of the facility expected in late 2022. The Multi-Purpose Detector (MPD) has been designed to operate at NICA and its components are currently in production. The detector is expected to be ready for data taking with the first beams from NICA. This document provides an overview of the landscape of the investigation of the QCD phase diagram in the region of maximum baryonic density, where NICA and MPD will be able to provide significant and unique input. It also provides a detailed description of the MPD set-up, including its various subsystems as well as its support and computing infrastructures. Selected performance studies for particular physics measurements at MPD are presented and discussed in the context of existing data and theoretical expectations.

Bayesian analysis of multimessenger M-R data with interpolated hybrid EoS

We introduce a family of equations of state (EoS) for hybrid neutron star (NS) matter that is obtained by a two-zone parabolic interpolation between a soft hadronic EoS at low densities and a set of stiff quark matter EoS at high densities within a finite region of chemical potentials $μ_H < μ< μ_Q$. Fixing the hadronic EoS as the APR one and choosing the color-superconducting, nonlocal NJL model with two free parameters for the quark phase, we perform Bayesian analyses with this two-parameter family of hybrid EoS. Using three different sets of observational constraints that include the mass of PSR J0740+6620, the tidal deformability for GW170817, and the mass-radius relation for PSR J0030+0451 from NICER as obligatory (set 1), while set 2 uses the possible upper limit on the maximum mass from GW170817 as an additional constraint and set 3 instead of the possibility that the lighter object in the asymmetric binary merger GW190814 is a neutron star. We confirm that in any case, the quark matter phase has to be color superconducting with the dimensionless diquark coupling approximately fulfilling the Fierz relation $η_D=0.75$ and the most probable solutions exhibiting a proportionality between $η_D$ and $η_V$, the coupling of the repulsive vector interaction that is required for a sufficiently large maximum mass. We used the Bayesian analysis to investigate with the method of fictitious measurements the consequences of anticipating different radii for the massive $2~M_\odot$ PSR J0740+6220 for the most likely equation of state. With the actual outcome of the NICER radius measurement on PSR J0740+6220 we could conclude that for the most likely hybrid star EoS would not support a maximum mass as large as $2.5~M_\odot$ so that the event GW190814 was a binary black hole merger.

On measures of classicality/quantumness in quasiprobability representations of finite-dimensional quantum systems

In the present report we discuss measures of classicality/quantumness of states of finite-dimensional quantum systems, which are based on a deviation of quasiprobability distributions from true statistical distributions. Particularly, the dependence of the global indicator of classicality on the assigned geometry of a quantum state space is analysed for a whole family of Wigner quasiprobability representations. General considerations are exemplified by constructing the global indicator of classicality/quantumness for the Hilbert-Schmidt, Bures and Bogoliubov-Kubo-Mori ensembles of qubits and qutrits.

Magnetization and Thermal Entanglement of the Spin-1 Ising-Heisenberg Polymer Chain

We establish a solvable Heisenberg-Ising model on a spin-1 Ni-containing polymer chain, $[Ni (NN'-dmen) (μ-N_3)_2]$, with $NN'-dmen$ being $NN'-dimethylethylenediamine$, that fully covers the interaction characteristics of the material and by which, we can characterize all the peculiar magnetic features of the polymer, which has been partly studied in experiment. By purely analytical calculations, we can see that the magnetization exhibits three plateaus at zero, mid, and 3/4 of the saturation value at low temperatures below 2 K. The corresponding featuring peaks of magnetic susceptibility are clearly shown. The model also displays plateaus in thermal entanglement that captures the one-to-one correspondence between thermal entanglement plateaus and those of the magnetization. The calculations are done by the transfer matrix technique.
