Dynamics of the CO+ coma of comet 29P/Schwasmann-Wachmann 1

Comet-centaur 29P/Schwassmann-Wachmann 1 was observed in CO+ emission and contin-uum during 2007-2009 using the 6-m Big Telescope Alt-azimuth at the Special Astrophysical Observatory of the Russian Academy of Sciences. We analysed the morphology of the CO+ and dust coma. The distributions of dust and CO+ ions in the coma are not similar and vary depending on the level of comet activity. CO+ ions are more concentrated towards the nucleus than the dust continuum. The column density of the CO+ was derived and found to vary from 3.7*10^9 to 4.3*10^10 ions cm^-2. The production rate of CO+ was estimated to be from (7.01)*10^24 to (1.15)*10^26 ions s^-1. We discuss possible mechanisms for the ionization of cometary material and show that impact ionization by solar wind particles is probably the main ionization mechanism at large heliocentric distances.

Intraday variability of the polarization vector in AGN S5 0716+714

The bright radio source S5 0716+714, which is usually classified as a BL Lac object, is one of the most intensively studied blazar. S5 0716+714 demonstrates extremely peculiar properties, such as the shortest time-scale of optical and polarimetric variations observed in blazars. In the given talk, we present the results of 8-h polarimetric monitoring of S5 0716+714 with a $\sim70$-sec resolution carried out using the 6-m telescope BTA of the SAO RAS. The observation data analysis reveals the variability both in total and polarized light on the 1.5-hour timescales that specifies the size of the unresolved emitting region. The numerical model of polarization in jet with the helical structure of the magnetic field is suggested, and fitting the model reveals a magnetic field precession with a period of about 15 days.

The 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko observation campaign in support of the Rosetta mission

We present a summary of the campaign of remote observations that supported the European Space Agency's Rosetta mission. Telescopes across the globe (and in space) followed comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko from before Rosetta's arrival until nearly the end of mission in September 2016. These provided essential data for mission planning, large-scale context information for the coma and tails beyond the spacecraft, and a way to directly compare 67P with other comets. The observations revealed 67P to be a relatively `well behaved' comet, typical of Jupiter family comets and with activity patterns that repeat from orbit-to-orbit. Comparison between this large collection of telescopic observations and the in situ results from Rosetta will allow us to better understand comet coma chemistry and structure. This work is just beginning as the mission ends -- in this paper we present a summary of the ground-based observations and early results, and point to many questions that will be addressed in future studies.

Status of Experiment NEUTRINO-4 Search for Sterile Neutrino

In order to carry out research in the field of possible existence of a sterile neutrino the laboratory based on SM-3 reactor (Dimitrovgrad, Russia) was created to search for oscillations of reactor antineutrino. The prototype of a multi-section neutrino detector with liquid scintillator volume of 350 l was installed in the middle of 2015. It is a moveable inside the passive shielding detector, which can be set at distance range from 6 to 11 meters from the reactor core. Measurements of antineutrino flux at such short distances from the reactor core are carried out with moveable detector for the first time. The measurements with full-scale detector with liquid scintillator volume of 3 m^3 (5x10 sections) was started only in June, 2016. The today available data is presented in the article.

Discovery of an unusual bright eclipsing binary with the longest known period: TYC 2505-672-1 / MASTER OT J095310.04+335352.8

We report on the MASTER Global Robotic Net discovery of an eclipsing binary, MASTER OT J095310.04+335352.8, previously known as unremarkable star TYC 2505-672-1, which displays extreme orbital parameters. The orbital period P=69.1 yr is more than 2.5 times longer than that of epsilon-Aurigae, which is the previous record holder. The light curve is characterized by an extremely deep total eclipse with a depth of more than 4.5 mag, which is symmetrically shaped and has a total duration of 3.5 yrs. The eclipse is essentially gray. The spectra acquired with the Russian 6 m BTA telescope both at minimum and maximum light mainly correspond to an M0-1III--type red giant, but the spectra taken at the bottom of eclipse show small traces of a sufficiently hot source. The observed properties of this system can be better explained as the red giant eclipsed by a large cloud (the disk) of small particles surrounding the invisible secondary companion.

Polarimetric and Spectroscopic Observations of a Dynamically New Comet C/2012 J1 (Catalina)

We present the analysis of the polarimetric and spectral data obtained for the dynamically new comet C/2012\,J1 (Catalina) when it was at a distance of 3.17~AU from the Sun. The observations were made at the prime focus of the 6-m BTA telescope using the SCORPIO-2 focal reducer. The map of the distribution of linear polarization in the cometary coma was constructed. The calculated value of linear polarization was on average about $-2\%$. Spectral analysis of the cometary coma allowed us to detect the emission of the CN molecule in the (0--0) band. The gas production rate was derived using the Haser model and amounted to $3.7\times10^{23}$~molecules per second.

Outer regions of the merging system Arp 270

Arp 270 (NGC 3395 and NGC 3396) is the system of two actively star-forming late-type galaxies in contact, which already have experienced at least one close encounter in the past. We performed long-slit observations of peripheric regions of this merging system with the 6-m telescope of SAO RAS. Line-of-sight velocity distribution along the slits was obtained for gas and stellar population. We found that the stellar component of NGC 3395 differs by its velocity from the emission gas component in the extended region in the periphery, which evidences a spatial separation of stars and gas in the tidally disturbed galaxy. Gas abundances obtained by different methods demonstrate that both galaxies are mildly underabundant (log(O/H) $\approx 8.4$) without significant variations of metallicity along the slits. By comparing stellar and gaseous masses of galaxies we came to conclusion that the chemical evolution of gas is badly described by the closed box model. It allows us to admit that the significant part of interstellar gas was swept out of galaxies during the preceding encounter(s). A special attention was paid to the extended kpc-size island of star formation between the galaxies. We have not found neither noticeable kinematic decoupling of this region from the adjacent areas, nor any peculiarities of its emission spectra, which evidences that it was formed recently from the gas of NGC 3395 in the transition region between the colliding galaxies.

A complex stellar line-of-sight velocity distribution in the lenticular galaxy NGC 524

We present the detailed study of the stellar and gaseous kinematics of the luminous early-type galaxy NGC 524 derived from the long-slit spectroscopic observations obtained with the Russian 6-m telescope and the IFU data from the SAURON survey. The stellar line-of-sight velocity distribution (LOSVD) of NGC 524 exhibits strong asymmetry. We performed the comprehensive analysis of the LOSVD using two complementary approaches implemented on top of the nbursts full spectral fitting technique, (a) a nonparametric LOSVD recovery and (b) a parametric recovery of two Gaussian kinematical components having different stellar populations. We discuss the origin of the complex stellar LOSVD of NGC 524.

Emitting gas regions in Mrk 493: An extensive Fe II line emission region

We performed 3D spectroscopic observations of Mrk 493 in order to investigate the Fe II emitting region and their possible connection with the Hydrogen emitting region. We found that there is a strong Fe II emission in an extensive region ~ 4" x 4" around Sy 1 nucleus. The Fe II line width indicates that these lines are originated in an intermediate line region.

Spectroscopy of Optical Counterparts of Ultraluminous X-ray Sources

Here we present the results of panoramic and long-slit observations of eight ULX nebular counterparts held with the 6m SAO telescope. In two ULXNe we detected for the first time signatures of high excitation ([OIII]5007 / Hβ> 5). Two of the ULXs were identified with young (T ~ 5-10 Myr) massive star clusters. Four of the eight ULX Nebulae (ULXNe) show bright high-excitation lines. This requires existence of luminous (~ 10^{38} .. 10^{40} erg/s) UV/EUV sources coinciding with the X-ray sources. Other 4 ULXNe require shock excitation of the gas with shock velocities of 20-100km/s. However, all the studied ULXN spectra show signatures of shock excitation, but even those ULXNe where the shocks are prevailing show presence of a hard ionizing source with the luminosity at least ~10^{38} erg/s. Most likely shock waves, X-ray and EUV ionization act simultaneously in all the ULXNe, but they may be roughly separated in two groups, shock-dominated and photoionization-dominated ULXNe. The ULXs have to produce strong winds and/or jets powering their nebulae with \~10^{39} erg/s. Both the wind/jet activity and the EUV source needed are consistent with the suggestion that ULXs are high-mass X-ray binaries with the supercritical accretion disks of the SS433 type.

Observation Campaign of SS 433 in April 2006

A radio-IR-optical-X-ray observation campaign of SS 433 has been performed in April 2006, when the jet axis is almost perpendicular to the line of sight. Five flares have been detected during the campaign by radio monitoring observation with RATAN-600. The X-ray astronomical satellite Suzaku observed the source in and out of eclipse. In the X-ray data out of eclipse, the flux shows a significant variation with a time scale of hours. The source seems to be in the active state during the campaign. The observation logs and preliminary results are presented.

Intergal field spectroscopy survey of classical LBV stars in M33

Five well-known LBV stars in M33 were observed with the Multi-Pupil Fiber Spectrograph (MPFS) on the 6-m Russian telescope. We observed LBVs varA, varB, varC, var2 and var83. In three of them, var2, var83, varB, large-scale nebulae were found with sizes from 15 pc and larger. The nebula shapes are complex, like one-side tails or conical nebulae. They all are related to their LBV stars. In var2 and var83 stars we found radial velocity gradients 15-30 km/s across their nebulae. The stars varA and varC do not show extended nebulae, but nebular lines are certainty present in their spectra.

Integral Field Spectroscopy of a peculiar Supernova Remnant MF16 in NGC6946

We present a study of a peculiar Supernova Remnant MF16, associated with the Ultraluminous X-ray Source (ULX) NGC6946 ULX-1. Observations were taken with the MultiPupil Fiber Spectrograph (MPFS) with 6-m telescope on January 2005. The nebula is found to be highly asymmetric, one of the parts being much denser and colder. The two-component structure of the emission lines and radial velocity gradient argue for a non-spherical nebula, expanding with a velocity of about 100 km/s. Neither shock models nor the X-ray emission can adequately explain the actual emission line spectrum of MF16, so we suggest an additional ultraviolet source with a luminosity of about 10E40 erg/s. We confirm coincidence of the ULX with the central star, and identify radio emission observed by VLA with the most dense part of the nebula.

Crowded field 3D spectroscopy of LBV candidates in M33

We present integral field spectroscopy of the LBV candidate stars B416 and v532 in the local group galaxy M33. B416 is surrounded by an elongated ring-like nebula, which has a projected radius of 20x30 pc. From the datacube we create ionization and radial velocity maps of the nebula. The excitation of the gas decreases towards the outer part of the ring, while the inner part of the nebula is filled with a more excited gas. In the EW direction the ring is seen to expand with a maximum projected velocity amplitude of about 40 km/s. The eastern part approaches the observer. We estimate the nebula dynamical lifetime 8*10E5 years. It could be a residual MS bubble, which indicates a main-sequence or pre-LBV status of the star. We classify B416 as an "iron star" or B[e]-supergiant. In v532 an elongated nebula has been marginally detected. The total projected size of the nebula along the main axis is 30 pc, and the total radial velocity gradient is 44+/-11 km/s. v532 exhibits both strong photometric and spectral variability. At the time of our observations it was in an intermediate brightness state with a rich nitrogen spectrum. We classify v532 as an LBV, showing LBV <-> Ofpe/WN transitions. We stress the importance of integral field spectroscopy as the optimal technique for studying nebulae and the evolution of LBV-like stars in nearby galaxies.

Integral field spectroscopy of the ultraluminous X-ray source Holmberg II X-1

We present optical integral field observations of the H II region containing the ultraluminous X-ray source Holmberg II X-1. We confirm the existence of an X-ray ionized nebula as the counterpart of the source due to the detection of an extended He II (4686A) region (21 x 47 pc) at the Chandra ACIS-S position. An extended blue objects with a size of 11 x 14 pc is coincident with the X-ray/He II region, which could indicate either a young stellar complex or a cluster. We have derived an X-ray to optical luminosity ratio of Lx/Lb>170, and presumable it is Lx/Lb~300-400 using the recent HST ACS data. We find a complex velocity dispersion at the position of the ULX. In addition, there is a radial velocity variation in the X-ray ionized region found in the He II emission of +-50 km/s on spatial scales of 2-3 arcsec. We believe that the putative black hole not only ionizes the surrounding HII gas, but also perturbs it dynamically (via jets or the accretion disk wind). The spatial analysis of the public Chandra ACIS-S data reveals a point-like X-ray source and marginal indication of an extended component (<<15 % of the total flux). The XMM-Newton EPIC-PN spectrum of HoII X-1 is best fitted with an absorbed power-law in addition to either a thermal thick plasma or a thermal thin plasma or a multi-colour disk black body (MCD). In all cases, the thermal component shows relatively low temperatures (kT~0.14-0.22 keV). Finally we discuss the optical/X-ray properties of HoII X-1 with regards to the possible nature of the source.
