Backlund transformations for the sl(2) Gaudin magnet

Elementary, one- and two-point, Backlund transformations are constructed for the generic case of the sl(2) Gaudin magnet. The spectrality property is used to construct these explicitly given, Poisson integrable maps which are time-discretizations of the continuous flows with any Hamiltonian from the spectral curve of the 2x2 Lax matrix.

Quantum Backlund transformation for the integrable DST model

For the integrable case of the discrete self-trapping (DST) model we construct a Backlund transformation. The dual Lax matrix and the corresponding dual Backlund transformation are also found and studied. The quantum analog of the Backlund transformation (Q-operator) is constructed as the trace of a monodromy matrix with an infinite-dimensional auxiliary space. We present the Q-operator as an explicit integral operator as well as describe its action on the monomial basis. As a result we obtain a family of integral equations for multivariable polynomial eigenfunctions of the quantum integrable DST model. These eigenfunctions are special functions of the Heun class which is beyond the hypergeometric class. The found integral equations are new and they shall provide a basis for efficient analytical and numerical studies of such complicated functions.

Backlund transformations for many-body systems related to KdV

We present Backlund transformations (BTs) with parameter for certain classical integrable n-body systems, namely the many-body generalised Henon-Heiles, Garnier and Neumann systems. Our construction makes use of the fact that all these systems may be obtained as particular reductions (stationary or restricted flows) of the KdV hierarchy; alternatively they may be considered as examples of the reduced sl(2) Gaudin magnet. The BTs provide exact time-discretizations of the original (continuous) systems, preserving the Lax matrix and hence all integrals of motion, and satisfy the spectrality property with respect to the Backlund parameter.

Few remarks on Baecklund transformations for many-body systems

Using the n-particle periodic Toda lattice and the relativistic generalization due to Ruijsenaars of the elliptic Calogero-Moser system as examples, we revise the basic properties of the Baecklund transformations (BT's) from the Hamiltonian point of view. The analogy between BT and Baxter's quantum Q-operator pointed out by Pasquier and Gaudin is exploited to produce a conjugated variable mu for the parameter lambda of the BT B_lambda such that mu belongs to the spectrum of the Lax operator L(lambda). As a consequence, the generating function of the composition of n BT's gives rise also to another canonical transformation separating variables for the model. For the Toda lattice the dual BT parametrized by mu is introduced.

Separation of variables for the Ruijsenaars system

We construct a separation of variables for the classical n-particle Ruijsenaars system (the relativistic analog of the elliptic Calogero-Moser system). The separated coordinates appear as the poles of the properly normalised eigenvector (Baker-Akhiezer function) of the corresponding Lax matrix. Two different normalisations of the BA functions are analysed. The canonicity of the separated variables is verified with the use of r-matrix technique. The explicit expressions for the generating function of the separating canonical transform are given in the simplest cases n=2 and n=3. Taking nonrelativistic limit we also construct a separation of variables for the elliptic Calogero-Moser system.

Separation of variables in the $A_2$ type Jack polynomials

An integral operator $M$ is constructed performing a separation of variables for the 3-particle quantum Calogero-Sutherland (CS) model. Under the action of $M$ the CS eigenfunctions (Jack polynomials for the root system $A_2$) are transformed to the factorized form $ϕ(y_1)ϕ(y_2)$, where $ϕ(y)$ is a trigonometric polynomial of one variable expressed in terms of the ${}_3F_2$ hypergeometric series. The inversion of $M$ produces a new integral representation for the $A_2$ Jack polynomials.

New boundary conditions for integrable lattices

New boundary conditions for integrable nonlinear lattices of the XXX type, such as the Heisenberg chain and the Toda lattice are presented. These integrable extensions are formulated in terms of a generic XXX Heisenberg magnet interacting with two additional spins at each end of the chain. The construction uses the most general rank 1 ansatz for the 2x2 L-operator satisfying the reflection equation algebra with rational r-matrix. The associated quadratic algebra is shown to be the one of dynamical symmetry for the A1 and BC2 Calogero-Moser problems. Other physical realizations of our quadratic algebra are also considered.

Separation of variables and the XXZ Gaudin magnet

In this work we generalise previous results connecting (rational) Gaudin magnet models and classical separation of variables. It is shown that the connection persists for the case of linear r-matrix algebra which corresponds to the trigonometric 4x4 r-matrix (of the XXZ type). We comment also on the corresponding problem for the elliptic (XYZ) r-matrix. A prescription for obtaining integrable systems associated with multiple poles of an L-operator is given.

Integrable Time-Discretisation of the Ruijsenaars-Schneider Model

An exactly integrable symplectic correspondence is derived which in a continuum limit leads to the equations of motion of the relativistic generalization of the Calogero-Moser system, that was introduced for the first time by Ruijsenaars and Schneider. For the discrete-time model the equations of motion take the form of Bethe Ansatz equations for the inhomogeneous spin-1/2 Heisenberg magnet. We present a Lax pair, the symplectic structure and prove the involutivity of the invariants. Exact solutions are investigated in the rational and hyperbolic (trigonometric) limits of the system that is given in terms of elliptic functions. These solutions are connected with discrete soliton equations. The results obtained allow us to consider the Bethe Ansatz equations as ones giving an integrable symplectic correspondence mixing the parameters of the quantum integrable system and the parameters of the corresponding Bethe wavefunction.

Separation of variables for the quantum relativistic Toda lattices

We consider quantum analogs of the relativistic Toda lattices and give new $2\times 2$ $L$-operators for these models. Making use of the variable separation the spectral problem for the quantum integrals of motion is reduced to solving one-dimensional separation equations.

Linear $r$-Matrix Algebra for Systems Separable\\ in Parabolic Coordinates

We consider a hierarchy of many particle systems on the line with polynomial potentials separable in parabolic coordinates. Using the Lax representation, written in terms of $2\times 2$ matrices for the whole hierarchy, we construct the associated linear $r$-matrix algebra with the $r$-matrix dependent on the dynamical variables. A dynamical Yang-Baxter equation is discussed.

Quadrics on Complex Riemannian Spaces of Constant Curvature, Separation of Variables and the Gaudin Magnet

We consider integrable systems that are connected with orthogonal separation of variables in complex Riemannian spaces of constant curvature. An isomorphism with the hyperbolic Gaudin magnet, previously pointed out by one of us, extends to coordinates of this type. The complete classification of these separable coordinate systems is provided by means of the corresponding $L$-matrices for the Gaudin magnet. The limiting procedures (or $ε$ calculus) which relate various degenerate orthogonal coordinate systems play a crucial result in the classification of all such systems.
