Radiation of fast positrons interacting with periodic microstructure on the surface of a crystal

Radiation of charged particles passing through a set of equidistant ridges on the surface of a single crystal is calculated. The ridges are rectangular in shape, each of thickness of half of the particle trajectory period at planar channeling in a thick crystal. Positively charged particle entering the first ridge with angle smaller than the critical channeling angle is captured into channeling and changes the direction of its transversal velocity to reversed. Between the half-wave ridges the particle moves along a straight line. Passing through such set of half-wave crystal plates the particle moves on quasi-undulator trajectories. Properties of the particle radiation emitted during their passage through such "multicrystal undulator" are calculated. The radiation spectrum in each direction is discrete, and the frequency of the first harmonic and the number of harmonics in the spectrum depends on the distance between the plates, on energy of the particles and on the averaged potential energy of atomic planes of the crystal. The radiation is bound to a narrow cone in the direction of the average particle velocity and polarized essentially in a plane orthogonal to the atomic planes of the crystal.

The St{\o}rmer problem for an aligned rotator

The effective potential energy of the particles in the field of rotating uniformly magnetized celestial body is investigated. The axis of rotation coincides with the axis of the magnetic field. Electromagnetic field of the body is composed of a dipole magnetic and quadrupole electric fields. The geometry of the trapping regions is studied as a function of the magnetic field magnitude and the rotation speed of the body. Examples of the potential energy topology for different values of these parameters are given. The main difference from the classical St{\o}rmer problem is that the single toroidal trapping region predicted by St{\o}rmer is divided into equatorial and off-equatorial trapping regions. Applicability of the idealized model of a rotating uniformly magnetized sphere with a vacuum magnetosphere to real celestial bodies is discussed.

Radiation of Relativistic Particles in a Quasi-Homogeneous Magnetic Field

Spectrum of radiation of a relativistic particle moving in a nonhomogeneous magnetic field is considered. The spectrum depends on the pitch-angle $\alpha$ between the velocity direction and a line tangent to the field line. In case of very small $\alpha$ the particle generates so-called curvature radiation, in an intermediate case undulator-kind radiation is produced. In this paper we present the calculations of radiation properties in a case when both curvature and undulator radiation is observed.

On the "force-free surface " of the magnetized celestial bodies

The field of a uniformly magnetized rotating sphere is studied with special attention to the surface where the electric and magnetic fields are orthogonal to each other. The equation of this surface, valid at arbitrary distances from the rotating magnetized sphere, is obtained. Inside the light cylinder this surface can be considered as a force-free surface, i.e. as a place where the particles with strong radiation damping can be trapped due to their energy loss. Outside the light cylinder this surface makes just a geometric locus which moves with a superlight velocity around the axis of rotation. The 2- and 3-dimensional plots of the force-free surface are constructed. Estimation of influence of the centrifugal force on the particle dynamics is made. It is shown, that in case of strong magnetic field the centrifugal force is negligible small everywhere except a narrow neighbourhood of the light cylinder.

The Inverse Problem for the Dipole Field

The Inverse problem for an electromagnetic field produced by a dipole is solved. It is assumed that the field of an arbitrary changing dipole is known. Obtained formulae allow calculation of the position and dynamics of the dipole which produces the measured field. The derived results can be used in investigations on radiative process in solids caused by changing of the charge distribution. For example, generation of the electromagnetic field caused by oscillations of atoms or electron gas at the trace of a particle channeling in a crystal, or fields arising at solids cracking or dislocation formation -- in any case when one is interested in the details of the dipole field source.

Effective potential energy for relativistic particles in the field of inclined rotating magnetized sphere

The dynamics of a charged relativistic particle in electromagnetic field of a rotating magnetized celestial body with the magnetic axis inclined to the axis of rotation is studied. The covariant Lagrangian function in the rotating reference frame is found. Effective potential energy is defined on the base of the first integral of motion. The structure of the equipotential surfaces for a relativistic charged particle is studied and depicted for different values of the dipole moment. It is shown that there are trapping regions for the particles of definite energies.

Emission spectrum of the atomic chain excited by channeled particle

Basic properties of radiation of the atomic chains excited by a channeled particle are considered. Using a very simple two-dimensional model of a crystal lattice we have shown that the main part of this radiation is generated on the frequency of oscillations of a channeled particle between the crystal planes, shifted by the Doppler effect. Spectral and angular distribution and spectral distribution of the radiation of the atomic chain excited by channeled particle were calculated. Emission spectrum of the atomic chain excited by channeled particle was plotted.

Spectral approach to the inverse problem for the field of arbitrary changing electric dipole

The inverse problem for electromagnetic field produced by arbitrary altered charge distribution in dipole approximation is solved. The charge distribution is represented by its dipole moment. It is assumed that the spectral properties of magnetic field of the dipole are known. The position of the dipole and its Fourier components are considered as the unknown quantities. It is assumed that relative increments of amplitude and phase of magnetic field in the vicinity of the observation point are known. The derived results can be used for study of phenomena concerned with occurrence and variation of localized electric charge distribution, when the position and the dynamics of a localized source of electromagnetic field are to be defined.

Effective potential energy in St\ormer's problem for an inclined rotating magnetic dipole

We discuss the dynamics of a charged nonrelativistic particle in electromagnetic field of a rotating magnetized celestial body. The equations of motion of the particle are obtained and some particular solutions are found. Effective potential energy is defined on the base of the first constant of motion. Regions accessible and inaccessible for a charged particle motion are studied and depicted for different values of a constant of motion.

Coherent radiation of atoms and a channeling particle

New mechanism of radiation emitted at channeling of a relativistic particle in a crystal is studied. Superposition of coherent radiation of the atoms in a crystal lattice which are excited by a channeling particle and radiation of the channeling particle itself is considered. It is shown that coherent radiation of the chain of oscillating atoms forms a resonance peak on the background of radiation of the channeling particle.

Radiation of the atomic chains exited by a channeling particle

Basic properties of radiation of the atomic chains excited by a channeling particle are considered. Using a very simple two-dimensional model of a crystal lattice we have shown that the main part of this radiation is generated on the frequency of oscillations of a channeling particle between the crystal planes, shifted by the Doppler effect. Angular distribution of the radiation of the chain of oscillating atoms is sharply peaked in the direction of the velocity of channeling particle because of coherence of the fields, produced by individual atoms.
