Quasielastic rho0 electroproduction on the proton at intermediate energy: Role of scalar and pseudoscalar meson exchange

We present a detailed analysis of rho(0) electroproduction at intermediate energy for quasi-elastic knockout kinematics. The approach is based on an effective Lagrangian which generates exchanges of scalar, pseudoscalar, axial-vector and tensor mesons. The specific role of mesons with different values for J(PC) is analyzed. We show that the pi(0) exchange amplitude and its interference terms with eta(eta') and f1 exchanges dominate in the transverse part of the cross section sigmaT. The main role plays the pi(0) to rho(0) M1 spin transition when coupling the virtual photons to the nucleon. In contrast, the longitudinal cross section sigmaL is generated by a series of scalar meson exchanges. To extract the dominant term more detailed information on the inner structure of scalar mesons is required. It turns out that recent data of the CLAS Collaboration on sigmaL and sigmaT can be described with reasonable accuracy if one proposes the quarkonium structure for the heavy scalar mesons (M > 1.3 GeV). On this basis the differential cross sections dsigmaL/dt and dsigmaT/dt are calculated and compared with the latest CLAS data.

Nucleon-nucleon wave function with short-range nodes and high-energy deuteron photodisintegration

We review a concept of the Moscow potential (MP) of the $NN$ interaction. On the basis of this concept we derive by quantum inversion optical partial potentials from the modern partial-wave analysis (PWA) data and deuteron properties. Point-form (PF) relativistic quantum mechanics (RQM) is applied to the two-body deuteron photodisintegration. Calculations of the cross-section angular distributions cover photon energies between 1.1 and 2.5 GeV. Good agreement between our theory and recent experimental data confirms the concept of deep attractive Moscow potential with forbidden $S$- and $P$-states.

Quasi-elastic knockout of pions and kaons from nucleons by high-energy electrons and quark microscopy of "soft" meson degrees of freedom in the nucleon

Electro-production of pions and kaons at the kinematics of quasi-elastic knockout (which is well known in the physics of atomic nucleus and corresponds to the $t$-pole diagram) is proposed for obtaining their momentum distribution (MD) in various channels of virtual decay $N \to B+π$, $B=N$, $Δ$, $N^*$, $N^{**}$, and $N \to Y+K$, $Y=Λ$, $Σ$. It is a powerful tool for investigation of a quark microscopic picture of the meson cloud in the nucleon. A model of scalar $q \bar{q}$ ($^3P_0$) fluctuation in the non-trivial QCD vacuum is used to calculate pion and kaon momentum distributions (MD) in these channels.

Pionic Degrees of Freedom in Atomic Nuclei and Quasielastic Knockout of Pions by High-Energy Electrons

The nonlinear model of pionic condensate in nuclei by G. Preparata can be efficiently verified by investigation of the quasielastic knockout process of pions out of nuclei by high energy electrons. First, a momentum distribution (MD) of the collective pions has a bright maximum at q=0.3 Gev.Second the excitation spectrum of a recoil nucleus is concentrated at low energies E lesser than 1MeV. The results for the pion knockout from mesonic clouds of individual nucleons are absolutely different. The latter results are presented both for pion and rho-meson clouds localized on nucleons.

Bremsstrahlung of 350--450 MeV protons as a tool to study $NN$ interaction off-shell

The $pp\to ppγ$ bremsstrahlung cross section is calculated within the method of coordinate space representation. It is shown that in the beam energy range of 350--450~MeV a deep attractive NN-potential with forbidden states (Moscow potential) and realistic meson exchange potentials (MEP) give rise to the cross sections that differ essentially in shape: the cross sections nearly coincide in the minima but differ by a factor of 5 approximately in the maxima. Therefore, the $pp\to ppγ$ reaction at energies $\sim$350--450~Mev can be used to study $NN$ interaction off-shell and to discriminate experimentally between MEP and Moscow potential.
