Properties of a compact neutron supermirror transmission polarizer with an electromagnetic system

The paper will present SVAROG, a compact neutron supermirror transmission multichannel polarizer with an electromagnetic system. The basic properties of this polarizer will be considered. Variants for using this polarizer in experimenrtla facilities of the PIK research reactor (Petersburg Nuclear Physics Institute of National Research Centre «Kurchatov Institute» (NRC «Kurchatov Institute» - PNPI)) will be discussed and a comparison of the considered polarizer with known neutron transmission polarizers will be carried out.

About using of a compact supermirror transmission polarizer in the neutron research facilities of the PIK reactor

The prospects of using last version of a compact supermirror transmission polarizer TRUNPOSS on silicon in modern neutron research facilities of the instrumental base being created for the PIK reactor (PNPI, Gatchina, Russia) will discuss in the paper. The results of calculations of the parameters and main characteristics of this polarizer for using it in IN2, IN3, SEM, DEDM, TENZOR facilities are discussed in detail.

New neutron transmission supermirror remanent polarizer

A new neutron transmission supermirror remanent polarizer is proposed. The polarizer is compact. It consists of two solid state polarizing parts. Parts of the polarizer have antiparallel magnetization of magnetic layers of supermirror structures. Both parts of the polarizer have magnetic remanence. This allows it to be used as a polarizer and analyzer in small magnetic fields. The polarizer can be used when working with beams of large cross-section and with a wide angular distribution. Assembly of the device is greatly simplified, because it is not required to bend a large stack of short plates along the radius, but only to compress of its. The width of the angular profile of the beam passed through the polarizer does not change! The polarizer has a high transmittance for the (-) spin component of the beam. The beam passed through the polarizer is highly polarized. Properties of neutron polarizing CoFe/TiZr and Fe/Si remanent supermirrors (m = 2.0 and 2.5) are discussed. A variant of effective use of the proposed polarizer with a spin-flipper for operation in saturating magnetic fields is proposed.
