Matrix elements of (delta S=2) operators with Wilson fermions

We test the recent proposal of using the Ward identities to compute the K0-K0bar mixing amplitude with Wilson fermions, without the problem of spurious lattice subtractions. From our simulations, we observe no difference between the results obtained with and without subtractions. In addition, from the standard study of the complete set of (delta S=2) operators, we quote the following (preliminary) results (in the MS(NDR) scheme): Bk(2 GeV)=0.70(10), < O7^{3/2}>_{K->pi pi} = 0.10(2)(1) GeV^3, < O8^{3/2}>_{K->pi pi} = 0.49(6)(0) GeV^3.

Combined Relativistic and static analysis for all Delta B=2 operators

We analyse matrix elements of Delta B=2 operators by combining QCD results with the ones obtained in the static limit of HQET. The matching of all the QCD operators to HQET is made at NLO order. To do that we have to include the anomalous dimension matrix up to two loops, both in QCD and HQET, and the one loop matching for all the Delta B=2 operators. The matrix elements of these operators are relevant for the prediction of the B-\bar B mixing, B_s meson width difference and supersymmetric effects in Delta B=2 transitions.

Extraction of K-->pipi Matrix Elements with Wilson Fermions

We present the status of a lattice calculation for the K-->pipi matrix elements of the (delta S=1) effective weak Hamiltonian, directly with two pion in the final state. We study the energy shift of two pion in a finite volume both in the I=0 and I=2 channels. We explain a method to avoid the Goldstone pole contamination in the computation of renormalization constants for (delta I=3/2) operators. Finally we show some preliminary results for the matrix elements of (delta I=1/2) operators. Our quenched simulation is done at beta=6.0, with Wilson fermions, on a (24^3 X 64) lattice.

B-parameters of the complete set of matrix elements of (Delta B = 2) operators from the lattice

We compute on the lattice the ``bag'' parameters of the five (Delta B = 2) operators of the supersymmetric basis, by combining their values determined in full QCD and in the static limit of HQET. The extrapolation of the QCD results from the accessible heavy-light meson masses to the B-meson mass is constrained by the static result. The matching of the corresponding results in HQET and in QCD is for the first time made at NLO accuracy in the MSbar(NDR) renormalization scheme. All results are obtained in the quenched approximation.

Width difference in the Bs system from lattice HQET

We present recent results for the prediction of the Bs lifetime difference from lattice Heavy Quark Effective Theory simulations. In order to get a next-to-leading order result we have calculated the matching between QCD and HQET and the two loop anomalous dimension in the HQET for all the ΔB=2 operators, in particular for the operators which enter in the width difference. We obtain for the Bs lifetime difference, (ΔΓ_Bs/Γ_Bs)=(5.1+/- 1.9+/- 1.7)10^(-2).

Quenched and first unquenched lattice HQET determination of the Bs-Meson width difference

We present recent results for the prediction of the Bs lifetime difference from lattice Heavy Quark Effective Theory simulations. In order to get a next-to-leading order result we have calculated the matching between QCD and HQET and the two-loop anomalous dimensions in the HQET for all the ΔB=2 operators, in particular for the operators which enter the width difference. We present results from quenched and, for the first time, from unquenched simulations. We obtain for the Bs lifetime difference, (ΔΓ_Bs/Γ_Bs)^{(que.)}=(5.1+/- 1.9+/- 1.7)10^(-2) and (ΔΓ_Bs/Γ_Bs)^{(unq.)}=(4.3+/- 2.0+/- 1.9)10^(-2) from the quenched and unquenched simulations respectively

A Theoretical Prediction of the Bs-Meson Lifetime Difference

We present the results of a quenched lattice calculation of the operator matrix elements relevant for predicting the Bs width difference. Our main result is (ΔΓ_Bs/Γ_Bs)= (4.7 +/- 1.5 +/- 1.6) 10^(-2), obtained from the ratio of matrix elements, R(m_b)=<\bar B_s^0|Q_S|B_s^0>/<\bar B_s^0|Q_L|B_s^0>=-0.93(3)^(+0.00)_(-0.01). R(m_b) was evaluated from the two relevant B-parameters, B_S^{MSbar}(m_b)=0.86(2)^(+0.02)_(-0.03) and B_Bs^{MSbar}(m_b) = 0.91(3)^(+0.00)_(-0.06), which we computed in our simulation.

K0-K0bar Mixing with Wilson Fermions without Subtractions

By using suitable Ward identities, we show that it is possible to compute K0-K0bar mixing without subtracting the terms generated by explicit chiral symmetry breaking present in Wilson-like lattice actions. The accuracy in the determination of the amplitudes is of O(a), which is the best one attainable in the absence of improvement.

Delta M_K and epsilon_K in SUSY at the Next-to-Leading order

We perform a Next-to-Leading order analysis of Delta S=2 processes beyond the Standard Model. Combining the recently computed NLO anomalous dimensions and the B parameters of the most general Delta S=2 effective Hamiltonian, we give an analytic formula for Delta M_K and epsilon_K in terms of the Wilson coefficients at the high energy scale. This expression can be used for any extension of the Standard Model with new heavy particles. Using this result, we consider gluino-mediated contributions to Delta S=2 transitions in general SUSY models and provide an improved analysis of the constraints on off-diagonal mass terms between the first two generations of down-type squarks. Finally, we improve the constraints on R-violating couplings from Delta M_K and epsilon_K.

Mixing of B mesons and Decay Constants with the Non-Perturbatively Improved Action

Several quantities relevant to phenomenological studies of the mixing of neutral B mesons are computed on the lattice. Our main results are: f_{Bd} sqrt(B_{Bd})=206(28)(7) MeV, f_{Bs} sqrt(B_{Bs})/f_{Bd}sqrt(B_{Bd})=1.16(7). We also obtain the related quantities f_{Bs}sqrt(B{Bs})=237(18)(8) MeV, f_{Bd}= 174(22)(+7-0)(-4-0) MeV, f_{Bs}= 204(15)(+7-0)(+3-0) MeV, f_{Bs}/f_{Bd}=1.17(4)(+0-1), f_{Bd}/f_{Ds}=0.74(5). After combining our results with the experimental world average (Delta m_d), we predict (Delta m_s)=15.8(2.1)(3.3) ps^{-1}. We have also computed the relevant parameters for mixing of neutral D mesons which may be useful in some extensions of the Standard Model. All the quantities were obtained from a quenched simulation with a non-perturbatively improved Clover action at beta=6.2, corresponding to a lattice spacing 1/a=2.7(1) GeV, on a sample of 200 gauge-field configurations. A discussion of the main systematic errors is also presented.

NNLO Unquenched Calculation of the b Quark Mass

By combining the first unquenched lattice computation of the B-meson binding energy and the two-loop contribution to the lattice HQET residual mass, we determine the (\bar{MS}) (b)-quark mass, (\bar{m}_{b}(\bar{m}_{b})). The inclusion of the two-loop corrections is essential to extract (\bar{m}_{b}(\bar{m}_{b})) with a precision of ({\cal O}(Λ^{2}_{QCD}/m_{b})), which is the uncertainty due to the renormalon singularities in the perturbative series of the residual mass. Our best estimate is (\bar{m}_{b}(\bar{m}_{b}) = (4.26 \pm 0.09) {\rm GeV}), where we have combined the different errors in quadrature. A detailed discussion of the systematic errors contributing to the final number is presented. Our results have been obtained on a sample of (60) lattices of size (24^{3}\times 40) at (β=5.6), using the Wilson action for light quarks and the lattice HQET for the (b) quark, at two values of the sea quark masses. The quark propagators have been computed using the unquenched links generated by the T(χ)L Collaboration.

Magnetic Moments of Heavy Baryons

First non-trivial chiral corrections to the magnetic moments of triplet (T) and sextet (S^(*)) heavy baryons are calculated using Heavy Hadron Chiral Perturbation Theory. Since magnetic moments of the T-hadrons vanish in the limit of infinite heavy quark mass (m_Q->infinity), these corrections occur at order O(1/(m_Q Λ_χ^2)) for T-baryons while for S^(*)-baryons they are of order O(1/Λ_χ^2). The renormalization of the chiral loops is discussed and relations among the magnetic moments of different hadrons are provided. Previous results for T-baryons are revised.

Renormalization Group Invariant Matrix Elements of DS = 2 and DI = 3/2 Four-Fermion Operators without Quark Masses

We introduce a new parameterization of four-fermion operator matrix elements which does not involve quark masses and thus allows a reduction of systematic uncertainties. In order to simplify the matching between lattice and continuum renormalization schemes, we express our results in terms of renormalization group invariant B-parameters which are renormalization-scheme and scale independent. As an application of our proposal, matrix elements of DI=3/2 and SUSY DS =2 operators have been computed. The calculations have been performed using the tree-level improved Clover lattice action at two different values of the strong coupling constant (beta=6/g^2=6.0 and 6.2), in the quenched approximation. Renormalization constants and mixing coefficients of lattice operators have been obtained non-perturbatively. Using lowest order ChiPT, we also obtain ^{NDR}_{I=2} = (0.11\pm 0.02) GeV^4 and ^{NDR}_{I=2} = (0.51\pm 0.05) GeV^4 at mu=2 GeV.

NNLO unquenched calculation of the b quark mass

By combining the first unquenched lattice computation of the B-meson binding energy with the recently calculated two-loop contribution to the lattice HQET mass, we determine the $\bar{MS}$ b-quark mass, $\bar{m}_{b}(\bar{m}_{b})$ at the NNLO. We find $\bar{m}_{b}(\bar{m}_{b}) = (4.26\pm 0.03 \pm 0.04 \pm 0.05) {\rm GeV}$. The inclusion of the two-loop effects is one of the steps necessary to extract $\bar{m}_{b}(\bar{m}_{b})$ with a precision better than ${\cal O}(Λ_{QCD})$, which is the uncertainty due to the presence of an IR renormalon singularity in the perturbative series of the residual mass. Our results have been obtained on a sample of 60 lattices of size $24^{3}\times 40$ at $β=5.6$, using the unquenched Wilson action with two degenerate sea quarks. The quark propagators have been computed using the unquenched links generated by the T$χ$L Collaboration.

Matrix Elements without Quark Masses on the Lattice

We introduce a new parameterization of four-fermion matrix elements which does not involve quark masses and thus allows a reduction of systematic uncertainties in physical amplitudes. As a result the apparent quadratic dependence of e'/e on m_s is removed. To simplify the matching between lattice and continuum renormalization schemes, we express our results in terms of Renormalization Group Invariant B-parameters which are renormalization-scheme and scale independent. As an application of our proposal, matrix elements of DeltaI=3/2 and SUSY DeltaF=2 ($F=S,C,B$) four-fermion operators have been computed.

B-parameters for DeltaS = 2 Supersymmetric Operators

We present a calculation of the matrix elements of the most general set of DeltaS=2 dimension-six four-fermion operators. The values of the matrix elements are given in terms of the corresponding B-parameters. Our results can be used in many phenomenological applications, since the operators considered here give important contributions to K^0--K^0bar mixing in several extensions of the Standard Model (supersymmetry, left-right symmetric models, multi-Higgs models etc.). The determination of the matrix elements improves the accuracy of the phenomenological analyses intended to put bounds on basic parameters of the different models, as for example the pattern of the sfermion mass matrices. The calculation has been performed on the lattice, using the tree-level improved Clover action at two different values of the strong coupling constant (beta=6/g_0^2(a)=6.0 and 6.2, corresponding to a^-1= 2.1 and 2.7 GeV respectively), in the quenched approximation. The renormalization constants and mixing coefficients of the lattice operators have been obtained non-perturbatively.

Calculation of the continuum--lattice HQET matching for the complete basis of four--fermion operators: reanalysis of the $B^{0}$-$\bar{B}^{0}$ mixing

In this work, we find the expressions of continuum HQET four-fermion operators in terms of lattice operators in perturbation theory. To do so, we calculate the one--loop continuum--lattice HQET matching for the complete basis of $ΔB=2$ and $ΔB=0$ operators (excluding penguin diagrams), extending and completing previous studies. We have also corrected some errors in previous evaluations of the matching for the operator $O_{LL}$. Our results are relevant to the lattice computation of the values of unknown hadronic matrix elements which enter in many very important theoretical predictions in $B$--meson phenomenology: $B^{0}$-$\bar{B}^{0}$ mixing, $τ_{B}$ and $τ_{B_{s}}$ lifetimes, SUSY effects in $ΔB=2$ transitions and the $B_{s}$ width difference $ΔΓ_{B_{s}}$. We have reanalyzed our lattice data for the $B_{B}$ parameter of the $B^{0}$-$\bar{B}^{0}$ mixing on 600 lattices of size $24^{3}\times 40$ at $β=6.0$ computed with the SW-Clover and HQET lattice actions. We have used the correct lattice--continuum matching factors and boosted perturbation theory with tadpole improved heavy--light operators to reduce the systematic error in the evaluation of the renormalization constants. Our best estimate of the renormalization scale independent $B$--parameter is $\hat{B}_{B} = 1.29 \pm 0.08 \pm 0.06$, where the first error is statistical and the second is systematic coming from the uncertainty in the determination of the renormalization constants. Our result is in good agreement with previous results obtained by extrapolating Wilson data. As a byproduct, we also obtain the complete one--loop anomalous dimension matrix for four--fermion operators in the HQET.

Lattice quark masses: a non-perturbative measurement

We discuss the renormalization of different definitions of quark masses in the Wilson and the tree-level improved SW-Clover fermionic action. For the improved case we give the correct relationship between the quark mass and the hopping parameter. Using perturbative and non-perturbative renormalization constants, we extract quark masses in the $\MSbar$ scheme from Lattice QCD in the quenched approximation at $β=6.0$, $β=6.2$ and $β=6.4$ for both actions. We find: $\bar{m}^{\MSbar}(2 GeV)=5.7 \pm 0.1 \pm 0.8$ MeV, $m_s^{\MSbar}(2GeV)= 130 \pm 2 \pm 18 $ MeV and $m_c^{\MSbar}(2 GeV) = 1662\pm 30\pm 230$ MeV.
