Counterexamples to Minkowski-type inequalities and the Rees converse for modules via mixed Buchsbaum-Rim Multiplicities

In this paper, we explore mixed Buchsbaum--Rim multiplicities of finite-colength submodules of free modules over Noetherian local rings. We extend the Hilbert-polynomial construction to submodules in arbitrary homogeneous degrees and prove a product formula for the resulting coefficients. We then examine module analogues of Teissier's coefficient inequalities and the Minkowski inequality. Explicit examples show that the coefficientwise power inequalities, log-convexity, and the product-root inequality can all fail; several failures occur over regular local rings. We also prove that equality of integral closures forces equality of all mixed Buchsbaum--Rim multiplicities, while a one-dimensional example shows that the converse fails for arbitrary modules. A converse is recovered when the module closures are the integral closures of modules of the form $IF$ for $\mathfrak m$-primary ideals $I$. The general converse problem in dimension at least two is stated at the end.

Finite holomorphic pullbacks, Segre numbers, and generic Lê numbers

We study numerical comparisons for hypersurface singularities under finite holomorphic maps between smooth germs. We retain Jelonek's topological proof of the Milnor-number inequality in the isolated case and give an algebraic proof using a cyclic factorization, Brieskorn modules, and trace. For a reduced divisor-theoretic pullback, we prove lexicographic monotonicity of Segre numbers. Componentwise monotonicity follows when the two singular loci have the same dimension and the target Jacobian ideal is equimultiple. For one-dimensional singular loci, we also obtain componentwise comparison under an equality condition on the first nonzero Segre number or a nonramification condition. The arguments use finite-flat pullback of Segre cycles and Hilbert--Samuel multiplicity. Through the identification with generic Lê numbers, the same results hold for these invariants. We distinguish these statements from comparisons in arbitrary prepolar coordinates and formulate the remaining componentwise and ramified cases as conjectures.

On Coefficient Module of Arbitrary Modules

Let $(R, \mathfrak{m})$ be a $d$-dimensional Noetherian local ring that is formally equidimensional, and let $M$ be an arbitrary $R$-submodule of the free module $F = R^p$ with an analytic spread $s:=s(M)$. In this work, inspired by Herzog-Puthenpurakal-Verma in \cite{herzog}, we show the existence of an unique largest $R$-module $M_{k}$ with $\ell_R(M_{k}/M)<\infty$ and $M\subseteq M_{s}\subseteq\cdots\subseteq M_{1}\subseteq M_{0}\subseteq q(M),$ such that $°(P_{M_{k}/M}(n))<s-k,$ where $q(M)$ is the relative integral closure of $M,$ defined by $q(M):=\overline{M}\cap M^{sat},$ where $M^{sat}=\cup_{n\geq 1}(M:_F\mathfrak{m}^n)$ is the saturation of $M$. We also provide a structure theorem for these modules. Furthermore, we establish the existence of coefficient modules between $I(M)M$ and $M$, where $I(M)$ denotes the $0$-th Fitting ideal of $F/M$, and discuss their structural properties. Finally, we present some applications and discuss some properties.

Local Homology with Respect to a Pair of Ideals

We introduce a generalization of the notion of local homology module, which we call a local homology module with respect to a pair of ideals $\left(I,J\right)$, and study its various properties such as vanishing, co-support and co-associated. We also discuss its connection with ordinary local homology.

Equimultiple Coefficient Ideals

Let $(R,\mathfrak{m})$ be a quasi-unmixed local ring and $I$ an equimultiple ideal of $R$ of analytic spread $s$. In this paper, we introduce the equimultiple coefficient ideals. Fix $k\in \{1,...,s\}.$ The largest ideal $L$ containing $I$ such that $e_{i}(I_{\mathfrak{p}})=e_{i}(L_{\mathfrak{p}})$ for each $i \in \{1,...,k\}$ and each minimal prime $\mathfrak{p}$ of $I$ is called the $k$-th equimultiple coefficient ideal denoted by $I_{k}$. It is a generalization of the coefficient ideals firstly introduced by Shah \cite{S} for the case of $\mathfrak{m}$-primary ideals. We also see applications of these ideals. For instance, we show that the associated graded ring $G_{I}(R)$ satisfies the $S_{1}$ condition if and only if $I^{n}=(I^{n})_{1}$ for all $n$.

Graded Version of Some Basic Theorems on Local Cohomology to a Pair of Ideals

In this paper, we prove some well-known results on local cohomology with respect to a pair of ideals in graded version, such as, Independence Theorem, Lichtenbaum-Harshorne Vanishing Theorem, Basic Finiteness and Vanishing Theorem, among others. Besides, we present a generalized version of Melkersson Theorem about Artinianess of modules and a result concerning Artinianess of local cohomology modules.

Some Results about Endomorphism Rings for Local Cohomology Defined by a Pair of Ideals

Let $(R,\mathfrak{m},k)$ denote a local ring. For $I$ and $J$ ideals of $R$, for all integer $i$, let $H^i_{I,J}(-)$ denote the $i$-th local cohomology functor with respect to $(I,J)$. Here we give a generalized version of Local Duality Theorem for local cohomology defined by a pair of ideals. Also, for $M$ be a finitely generated $R$-module, we study the behavior of the endomorphism rings $H^t_{I,J}(M)$ and $D(H^t_{I,J}(M))$ where $t$ is the smallest integer such that the local cohomology with respect to a pair of ideals is non-zero and $D(-):= {\rm Hom}_R(-,E_R(k))$ is the Matlis dual functor. We show too that if $R$ be a $d$-dimensional complete Cohen-Macaulay and $H^i_{I,J}(R)=0$ for all $i\neq t$, the natural homomorphism $R\rightarrow {\rm Hom}_R(H^t_{I,J}(K_R), H^t_{I,J}(K_R))$ is an isomorphism and for all $i\neq t$, where $K_R$ denote the canonical module of $R$.

On the Gorenstein Property of the Fiber Cone to Filtrations

Let $(A, \mathfrak{m})$ be a Noetherian local ring and $\mathfrak{F}=(I_{n})_{n\geq 0}$ a filtration. In this paper, we study the Gorenstein properties of the fiber cone $F(\mathfrak{F})$, where $\mathfrak{F}$ is a Hilbert filtration. Suppose that $F(\mathfrak{F})$ and $G(\mathfrak{F})$ are Cohen-Macaulay. If in addition, the associated graded ring $G(\mathfrak{F})$ is Gorenstein; similarly to the $I$-adic case, we obtain a necessary and sufficient condition, in terms of lengths and minimal number of generators of ideals, for Gorensteiness of the fiber cone. Moreover, we find a description of the canonical module of $F(\mathfrak{F})$ and show that even in the Hilbert filtration case, the multiplicity of the canonical module of the fiber cone is upper bounded by multiplicity of the canonical modules of the associated graded ring.

Castelnuovo-Mumford Regularity of the Fiber Cone for good filtrations

In this paper we show that there is a close relationship between the invariants characterizing the homogeneous vanishing of the local cohomology of the Rees algebra and the associated graded ring for the good filtrations case. We obtain relationships between the Castelnuovo-Mumford regularity of the fiber cone, associated graded ring, Rees algebra and reduction number for the good filtrations case.

A numerical characterization of reduction for arbitrary modules

Let $(R, \mathfrak m)$ be a $d$-dimensional Noetherian local ring and $E$ a finitely generated $R$-submodule of a free module $R^p.$ In this work we introduce a multiplicity sequence $c_k(E), k=0,..., d+p-1$ for $E$ that generalize the Buchsbaum-Rim multiplicity defined when $E$ has finite colength in $R^p$ as well as the Achilles-Manaresi multiplicity sequence that applies when $E\subseteq R$ is an ideal. Our main result is that the new multiplicity sequence can indeed be used to detect integral dependence of modules. Our proof is self-contained and implies known numerical criteria for integral dependence of ideals and modules.

Counting isolated singularities in germs of applications ${\C^n,0\to \C^p,0}$, n<p

In this paper we give a formula for counting the number of isolated stable singularities of a stable perturbation of corank 1 germs $f:\C^n,0\to \C^p,0$ with $n<p$ that appear in the image $f(\C^n).$ We also define a set of ${\cal A}$-invariants and show that their finiteness is a necessary and sufficient condition for the ${\cal A}$-finiteness of the germ $f.$
