High harmonic generation under dynamical confinement: An atom-in-box model

We consider optical high harmonic generation in a hydrogen atom confined in a breathing spherical box by considering atomic nucleus as fixed at the center of sphere. In such spherically symmetric, dynamical trap, the high harmonic generation spectrum is calculated at different values of the oscillation amplitude, confinement size and atomic nucleus charge.

Interference effects in the reradiation of ultrashort electromagnetic pulses

Reradiation of a spatially non-uniform ultrashort electromagnetic pulse interacting with the linear chain of multielectron atoms is studied in the framework of sudden perturbation approximation. Angular distributions of the reradiation spectrum for arbitrary number of atoms are obtained. It is shown that interference effects for the photon radiation amplitudes lead to appearing of "diffraction" maximums. The obtained results can be extended to the case of two- and three-dimensional crystal lattices and atomic chains. The approach developed allows also to take into account thermal vibrations of the lattice atoms.

Quantum dynamics of a hydrogen-like atom in a time-dependent box: non-adiabatic regime

We consider a hydrogen atom confined in time-dependent trap created by a spherical impenetrable box with time-dependent radius. For such model we study the behavior of atomic electron under the (non-adiabatic) dynamical confinement caused by the rapidly moving wall of the box. The expectation values of the total and kinetic energy, average force, pressure and coordinate are analyzed as a function of time for linearly expanding, contracting and harmonically breathing boxes. It is shown that linearly extending box leads to de-excitation of the atom, while the rapidly contracting box causes the creation of very high pressure on the atom and transition of the atomic electron into the unbound state. In harmonically breathing box diffusive excitation of atomic electron may occur in analogy with that for atom in a microwave field.

New-Type Internal Target for Structural Ion Stripping

The search is now on for, new materials that can be used for ionic stripping. Materials that maximize the stripping of the structural ion are important for conducting experiments with quark-gluon plasma. Although this paper is a theoretical study, it offers practical application, in heavy-ion accelerators, of the new effect of collision multiplicity with high-energy ions interacting with polyatomic targets. It is shown that internal nanostructured targets in which the collision multiplicity effect is manifested can more efficiently strip out structural ions compared to standard internal targets for stripping. A target consisting of oriented nano-tubes with the $C_{240}$ chirality (10,0) is considered as an example. A comparison with the stripping process on a carbon target with the same number of misaligned atoms in a unit of volume $C$ is provided.

Polarization Bremsstrahlung in collissions of fast ions with multiatomic targets

We consider the processes of polarization bremsstrahlung in collisions of fast ions with linear chains consisting of isolated atoms. We obtained intensities and angular distributions of radiation spectra for arbitrary number of atoms in the chain. It appeared that interference in the photon radiation amplitudes lead to prominent variation of spectral angular distributions of polarization bremsstrahlung as compared to these distribuitions in collisions with an isolated atom. The mean loss of energy due to radiation or the so-called rediative friction is estimated. The results obtained permit standard generalization to the case of polarization bremsstrahlung in fast ion chanelling above surfaces an and in solid body.

Electron loss of fast heavy projectiles in collision with neutral targets

The multiple electron loss of heavy projectiles in fast ion-atom collisions has been studied in the framework of the sudden perturbation approximation. Especially, a model is developed to calculate the cross sections for the loss of any number of electrons from the projectile ion, including the ionization of a single electron and up to the complete stripping of the projectile. For a given collision system, that is specified by the (type and charge state of the) projectile and target as well as the collision energy, in fact, the experimental cross sections for just three final states of the projectile are required by this model in order to predict the loss of any number, $N$, of electrons for the same collision system, or for any similar system that differs only in the energy or the initial charge state of the projectile ion. The model is simple and can be utilized for both, the projectile and target ionization, and without that large computer resources are requested. Detailed computation have been carried out for the multiple electron loss of Xe$^{18+}$ and U$^{6+,\, 10+,\, 28+}$ projectiles in collision with neutral Ar and Ne gas targets.

Electron loss of fast projectiles in the collisions with molecules

The single and multiple electron loss of fast highly charged projectiles in the collisions with neutral molecules are studied within the framework of a nonperturbative approach. The cross sections for single, double, and triple electron losses are calculated for the collision system $Fe^{q+}\to N_2$ ($q$=24, 25, 26) at the collision energies 10, 100, and 1000 MeV/u. The effects caused by the collision multiplicity and the orientation of the axis of target molecule are treated. It is shown that collision multiplicity effect leads to considerable differences for the cases of perpendicular and parallel orientations of the molecular axes with respect to the direction of the projectile motion, while for chaotic orientation such effect is negligible.

Inelastic Processes in the Collision of Relativistic Highly Charged Ions with Atoms

A general expression for the cross sections of inelastic collisions of fast (including relativistic) multicharged ions with atoms which is based on the genelazition of the eikonal approximation is derived. This expression is applicable for wide range of collision energy and has the standard nonrelativistic limit and in the ultrarelativistic limit coincides with the Baltz's exact solution ~\cite{art13} of the Dirac equation. As an application of the obtained result the following processes are calculated: the excitation and ionization cross sections of hydrogenlike atom; the single and double excitation and ionization of heliumlike atom; the multiply ionization of neon and argon atoms; the probability and cross section of K-vacancy production in the relativistic $U^{92+} - U^{91+}$ collision. The simple analytic formulae for the cross sections of inelastic collisions and the recurrence relations between the ionization cross sections of different multiplicities are also obtained. Comparison of our results with the experimental data and the results of other calculations are given.

THE ENERGY LOSSES OF RELATIVISTIC HIGH CHARGED IONS

The energy losses at collisions of heavy multiply charged ions with light atoms and polarization losses at moving through the matter have been considered under circumstances the ion charge Z>>1 and the relative colliding velocity v>>1, so that Z~v=<c, where c - the light velocity (atomic units are used). In this region of parameters the Born approximation are not justificative. The simple formulas for effective stopping are obtained, the comparison with other theoretical results and experiments are given.

Dirac Electron in the Electric Dipole Field

Dirac equation for the finite dipole potential is solved by the method of the join of the asymptotics. The formulas for the near continuum state energy term of a relativistic electron-dipole system are obtained analytically. Two cases are considered: $Z < 137$ and $Z >137$
