Off mass shell dual amplitude with Mandelstam analyticity

A model for the $Q^2$-dependent dual amplitude with Mandelstam analyticity (DAMA) is proposed. The modified DAMA (M-DAMA) preserves all the attractive properties of DAMA, such as its pole structure and Regge asymptotics, and leads to a generalized dual amplitude $A(s,t,Q^2)$. This generalized amplitude can be checked in the known kinematical limits, i.e. it should reduce to the ordinary dual amplitude on mass shell, and to the nuclear structure function when $t=0$. In such a way we complete a unified "two-dimensionally dual" picture of strong interaction. By comparing the structure function $F_2$, resulting from M-DAMA, with phenomenological parameterizations, we fix the $Q^2$-dependence in M-DAMA. In all studied regions, i.e. in the large and low $x$ limits as well as in the resonance region, the results of M-DAMA are in qualitative agreement with the experiment.

Phase Transitions in High Energy Heavy-Ion Collisions

Modelling Quark-Gluon Plasma formation and decay in high energy heavy ion reactions is presented in a framework of a multi-module setup. The collective features, governing the equlibrated fluid dynamical stages of the model are emphasized. Flow effects formed from the initial conditions are discussed. Particular attention is given to the improvement of the final hadronization and freeze-out part of the reaction which has strong effects on the observables.

A Kinematically Complete Analysis of the CLAS data on the Proton Structure Function $F_2$ in a Regge-Dual model

The recently measured inclusive electron-proton cross section in the nucleon resonance region, performed with the CLAS detector at the Thomas Jefferson Laboratory, has provided new data for the nucleon structure function $F_2$ with previously unavailable precision. In this paper we propose a description of these experimental data based on a Regge-dual model for $F_2$. The basic inputs in the model are nonlinear complex Regge trajectories producing both isobar resonances and a smooth background. The model is tested against the experimental data, and the $Q^2-$ dependence of the moments is calculated. The fitted model for the structure function (inclusive cross section) is a limiting case of the more general scattering amplitude equally applicable to deeply virtual Compton scattering (DVCS). The connection between the two is discussed.

Generalized distribution amplitudes: new tools to study hadrons' structure and interactions

A non-perturbative approach to Generalized Parton Distributions, and to Deeply Virtual Compton Scattering in particular, based on off mass shell extension of dual amplitudes with Mandelstam analyticity (DAMA) is developed with the spin and helicity structure as well as the threshold behavior accounted for. The model is tested against the data on deep inelastic electron-proton scattering from JLab.

Non-equilibrated post freeze out distributions

We discuss freeze out on the hypersurface with time-like normal vector, trying to answer how realistic is to assume thermal post freeze out distributions for measured hadrons. Using simple kinetic models for gradual freeze out we are able to generate thermal post FO distribution, but only in highly simplified situation. In a more advanced model, taking into account rescattering and re-thermalization, the post FO distribution gets more complicated. The resulting particle distributions are in qualitative agreement with the experimentally measured pion spectra. Our study also shows that the obtained post FO distribution functions, although analytically very different from the Juttner distribution, do look pretty much like thermal distributions in some range of parameters.

Low-energy diffraction; a direct-channel point of view: the background

We argue that at low-energies, typical of the resonance region, the contribution from direct-channel exotic trajectories replaces the Pomeron exchange, typical of high energies. A dual model realizing this idea is suggested. While at high energies it matches the Regge pole behavior, dominated by a Pomeron exchange, at low energies it produces a smooth, structureless behavior of the total cross section determined by a direct-channel nonlinear exotic trajectory, dual to the Pomeron exchange.

Can supercooling explain the HBT puzzle?

Possible hadronization of supercooled QGP, created in heavy ion collisions at RHIC and SPS, is discussed within a Bjorken hydrodynamic model. Such a hadronization is expected to be a very fast shock-like process, what, if hadronization coincides or shortly followed by freeze out, could explain a part of the HBT puzzle, i.e. the flash-like particle emission ($R_{out}/R_{side}\approx 1$). HBT data also show that the expansion time before freeze out is very short ($\sim 6-10 fm/c$). In this work we discuss question of supercooled QGP and the timescale of the reaction.

Effective String Rope Model for the initial stages of Ultra-Relativistic Heavy Ion Collisions

Different approaches to describe initial stages of relativistic heavy ion collisions are discussed qualitatively and quantitatively. An Effective String Rope Model is presented for heavy ion collisions at RHIC energies. Our model takes into account baryon recoil for both target and projectile, arising from the acceleration of partons in an effective field, produced in the collision. The typical field strength (string tension) for RHIC energies is about 5-12 GeV/fm, what allows us to talk about ``string ropes''. The results show that a QGP forms a tilted disk, such that the direction of the largest pressure gradient stays in the reaction plane, but deviates from both the beam and the usual transverse flow directions. The produced initial state can be used as an initial condition for further hydrodynamical calculations. Such initial conditions lead to the creation of third flow component.

Explicit model realizing parton-hadron duality

An explicit model realizing parton-hadron duality and fitting the data is suggested. Complex nonlinear Regge trajectories are important ingredients of the model. The inclusion of $Δ$ and $N^*$ trajectories should account for all resonances in the direct channel. The exotic trajectory is responsible for the smooth background.

Initial conditions for RHIC collisions

An Effective String Rope Model (ESRM) for heavy ion collisions at RHIC energies is presented. Our model takes into account baryon recoil for both target and projectile, arising from the acceleration of partons in an effective field, produced in the collision. The typical field strength (string tension) for RHIC energies is about $5-12 GeV/fm$, what allows us to talk about "string ropes''. Now we describe an "expanding final streaks" scenario, in contrast to a "non-expanding final streaks" discussed in our works before. The results show that a QGP forms a tilted disk, such that the direction of the largest pressure gradient stays in the reaction plane, but deviates from both the beam and the usual transverse flow directions. The produced initial state can be used as an initial condition for further hydrodynamical calculations. Such initial conditions lead to the creation of a third flow component.

Dual Properties of the Structure Functions

By using the concept of duality between direct channel resonances and Regge exchanges we relate the small- and large-$x$ behavior of the structure functions. We show that even a single resonance exhibits Bjorken scaling at large $Q^2$.

Duality in strong interactions

By introducing Q^2-dependence in resonance-reggeon "soft" dual models with nonlinear trajectories, they are extended to "hard" processes, sharing the property of parton-hadron duality. The resulting object is a two-component complex function of three variables - s,t and Q^2, reducing to classical dual models on the mass shell and to deep inelastic structure functions, or Compton scattering amplitudes - forward and non-forward - otherwise. As a consequence, the small- and large-x behavior of the structure functions is also related by duality. This duality relation holds for each o components (diffractive and non-diffractive for the amplitude or singlet and non-singlet for the structure) separately.

Multi Module Model for Ultra-Relativistic Heavy Ion Collisions

The Multi Module Model for Ultra-Relativistic Heavy Ion Collisions at RHIC and LHC energies is presented. It uses the Effective String Rope Model for the calculation of the initial stages of the reaction; the output of this model is used as the initial state for the subsequent one-fluid calculations. It is shown that such an initial state leads to the creation of the third flow component. The hydrodynamical evolution of the energy density distribution is also presented.

The initial state of ultra-relativistic heavy ion collision

A model for energy, pressure and flow velocity distributions at the beginning of ultra-relativistic heavy ion collisions is presented, which can be used as an initial condition for hydrodynamic calculations. The source of the "third flow component"

A model for energy, pressure and flow velocity distributions at the beginning of relativistic heavy ion collisions has been developed to be used as initial condition for hydrodynamical calculations. Such initial conditions may lead to the creation of the "antiflow" or the "third flow component".

Freeze-out in hydrodynamical models in relativistic heavy ion collisions

Freeze-out of particles across 3-dimensional space-time hypersurface with space-like normal is discussed in a simple kinetic model. The final momentum distribution of emitted particles shows a non-exponential transverse momentum spectrum, which is in quantitative agreement with recently measured SPS pion and $h^-$ spectra.
