Exponentially convergent method for time-fractional evolution equation

An exponentially convergent numerical method for solving a differential equation with a right-hand fractional Riemann-Liouville time-derivative and an unbounded operator coefficient in Banach space is proposed and analysed for a homogeneous/inhomogeneous equation of the Hardy-Tichmarsh type. We employ a solution representation by the Danford-Cauchy integral on hyperbola that envelopes spectrum of the operator coefficient with a subsequent application of an exponentially convergent quadrature. To do that, parameters of the hyperbola are chosen so that the integration function has an analytical extension into a strip around the real axis and then apply the Sinc-quadrature. We show the exponential accuracy and illustrate the results by a numerical example confirming the {\it a priori} estimate. Existence conditions for the solution of the inhomogeneous equation are established.

Weighted estimates of the Cayley transform method for boundary value problems in a Banach space

We consider the boundary value problems (BVPs) for linear secondorder ODEs with a strongly positive operator coefficient in a Banach space. The solutions are given in the form of the infinite series by means of the Cayley transform of the operator, the Meixner type polynomials of the independent variable, the operator Green function and the Fourier series representation for the right-hand side of the equation. The approximate solution of each problem is a partial sum of N (or expressed through N) summands. We prove the weighted error estimates depending on the discretization parameter N, the distance of the independent variable to the boundary points of the interval and some smoothness properties of the input data.

An efficient approach for solving stiff nonlinear boundary value problems

A new method for solving stiff boundary value problems is described and compared to other known approaches using the Troesch's problem as a test example. The method is based on the general idea of alternate approximation of either the unknown function or its inverse and has a genuine "immunity" towards numerical difficulties invoked by the rapid variation (stiffness) of the unknown solution. A c++ implementation of the proposed method is available at https://github.com/imathsoft/MathSoftDevelopment .

Abstract interpolation Thiele type fraction

Abstract continued Thiele type fraction has been constructed, which is an interpolation one for nonlinear operator acting from linear topological space X to algebra Y with a unit. In particular cases it changes into both a classic Thiele faction and a matrix-valued Thiele-type fraction from multiple variables.

Approximate solution to abstract differential equations with variable domain

A new exponentially convergent algorithm is proposed for an abstract the first order differential equation with unbounded operator coefficient possessing a variable domain. The algorithm is based on a generalization of the Duhamel integral for vector-valued functions. This technique translates the initial problem to a system of integral equations. Then the system is approximated with exponential accuracy. The theoretical results are illustrated by examples associated with the heat transfer boundary value problems.
