Domain wall nucleation in ferromagnetic nanowire with perpendicular magnetization stimulated by stray field of V-shaped magnetic particle

We report the results of micromagnetic simulations of domain wall (DW) nucleation and pinning/depinning processes in ferromagnetic planar structure consisting of nanowire (NW) with perpendicular anisotropy and special V-shaped nanoparticle (NP) with in-plane anisotropy located on top of NW. The magnetization reversal features of this system in an external magnetic field are investigated depending on the direction of particle magnetic moment. Possible variants of magnetic logic cells (LCs) based on such system are discussed.

Interlayer interaction in multilayer CoPt/Co structures

We report a study of interlayer exchange interaction in multilayer CoPt/Co structures consisting of periodic CoPt multilayer film with an "easy axis" anisotropy and thick Co layer with an "easy plane" anisotropy separated by Pt spacer with variable thickness. The magnetooptical Kerr effect (MOKE) and ferromagnetic resonance (FMR) measurements show up the essentially non-collinear state of magnetic moments of the layers and strong exchange coupling between CoPt and Co subsystems. The estimation of effective anisotropy and exchange coupling in a simple model based on the Landau-Lifshitz-Gilbert equation describing magnetization dynamics was performed.

Ferromagnetic resonance in submicron permalloy stripes

We present the results of systematic experimental investigations and micromagnetic simulations for the ferromagnetic resonance in rectangular permalloy microstripes. It is shown that the resonant magnetization oscillations have a complex spatial structure including a quasi-homogeneous precession, lateral spin-wave resonances and localized edge modes, which strongly depend on sample orientation in an external magnetic field.

Controlled domain wall pinning in ferromagnetic nanowire by nanoparticles stray fields

We report the results of experimental investigations of controlled domain wall (DW) pinning in a ferromagnetic nanowire (NW) by stray fields of two uniformly magnetized bistable ferromagnetic nanoparticles (NPs) placed on either side of the NW and elongated parallel to the NW axis. We show by magnetic force microscopy measurements that DW pinning strength essentially depends on the orientation of the NP magnetic moments relative to the NW magnetization and can reach 20 mT. We also performed micromagnetic simulations confirming the influence of the magnetostatic interaction of the DW with the NP stray fields on the pinning strength. The possible realization of logic cell with switchable logic function is discussed.

Skyrmion-like states in multilayer exchange coupled ferromagnetic nanostructures with distinct anisotropy directions

We report the experimental observation of magnetic skyrmion-like states in patterned ferromagnetic nanostructures consisting of perpendicular magnetized Co/Pt multilayer film exchange coupled with Co nanodisks in vortex state. The magnetic force microscopy and micromagnetic simulations show that depending on the magnitude of Co/Pt perpendicular anisotropy in these systems two different modes of skyrmion formation are realized.

Magnetic states and ferromagnetic resonance in geometrically frustrated arrays of multilayer ferromagnetic nanoparticles ordered on triangular lattices

We present a theoretical investigation of magnetostatic interaction effects in geometrically frustrated arrays of anisotropic multilayer ferromagnetic nanoparticles arranged in different spatially configured systems with triangular symmetry. We show that the interlayer magnetostatic interaction significantly expands the opportunities to create magnetically frustrated systems. The effects of the magnetostatic interaction in magnetization reversal processes and the possibility to control the ferromagnetic resonance spectrum in such systems are discussed.

Sedeonic theory of massless fields

In present paper we develop the description of massless fields on the basis of space-time algebra of sixteen-component sedeons. The generalized sedeonic second-order equation for unified gravitoelectromagnetic (GE) field describing simultaneously gravity and electromagnetism is proposed. The second-order relations for the GE field energy, momentum and Lorentz invariants are derived. We consider also the generalized sedeonic first-order equation for the massless neutrino field. The second-order relations for the neutrino potentials analogues to the Pointing theorem and Lorentz invariant relations in gravitoelectromagnetism are also derived.

Field-controlled domain wall pinning-depinning effects in ferromagnetic nanowire-nanoparticles system

We represent the results of micromagnetic modeling and experimental magnetic force microscopy investigations of domain wall (DW) pinning-depinning effects in the hybrid systems consisting of ferromagnetic nanowire (NW) and two ferromagnetic nanoparticles (NPs). It was demonstrated that the special NW-NPs configuration including the NW with DW nucleating bulb at one end and two-NP gate enables the realization of controlled DW pinning-depinning based on switching of magnetization in NPs subsystem. The algorithm of external driving field manipulation and independent NPs switching, which allow one to develop a new type of magnetic logic cells, is proposed.

Anti-vortex state in cross-like nanomagnets

We report on results of computer micromodelling of anti-vortex states in asymmetrical cross-like ferromagnetic nanostructures and their practical realization. The arrays of cobalt crosses with 1 mkm branches, 100 nm widths of the branches and 40 nm thicknesses were fabricated using e-beam lithography and ion etching. Each branch of the cross was tapered at one end and bulbous at the other. The stable formation of anti-vortex magnetic states in these nanostructures during magnetization reversal was demonstrated experimentally using magnetic force microscopy.

Octonic relativistic quantum mechanics

In this paper we represent the generalization of relativistic quantum mechanics on the base of eght-component values "octons", generating associative noncommutative spatial algebra. It is shown that the octonic second-order equation for the eight-component octonic wave function, obtained from the Einshtein relation for energy and momentum, describes particles with spin of 1/2. It is established that the octonic wave function of a particle in the state with defined spin projection has the specific spatial structure in the form of octonic oscillator with two spatial polarizations: longitudinal linear and transversal circular. The relations between bispinor and octonic descriptions of relativistic particles are established. We propose the eight-component spinors, which are octonic generalisation of two-component Pauli spinors and four-component Dirac bispinors. It is shown that proposed eight-component spinors separate the states with different spin projection, different particle-antiparticle state as well as different polarization of the octonic oscillator. We demonstrate that in the frames of octonic relativistic quantum mechanics the second-order equation for octonic wave function can be reformulated in the form of the system of first-order equations for quantum fields, which is analogous to the system of Maxwell equations for the electromagnetic field. It is established that for the special type of wave functions the second-order equation can be reduced to the single first-order equation, which is analogous to the Dirac equation. At the same time it is shown that this first-order equation describes particles, which do not create quantum fields.

Artificial helical nanomagnets

We demonstrate the existence of a helical state in patterned multilayer nanomagnets. The artificial helimagnets consist of a stack of single domain ferromagnetic disks separated by insulating nonmagnetic spacers. The spiral state is shown to originate from the magnetostatic interaction between nearest and next nearest neighbouring single-domain disks in the stack. Since the magnetostatic interaction for such disks is rather strong, the helical state should be stable at room temperature. The helimagnets were fabricated from a [Co/Si]*3 multilayer using electron beam lithography. The helical state was confirmed by a magnetic stray field analysis using magnetic force microscopy.
