Nucleon Structure from Quenched Overlap Fermions

We compute the lowest moments of the nucleon's structure functions using quenched overlap fermions at two different lattice spacings. The renormalisation is done nonperturbatively in the RI'-MOM-scheme.

Low-Lying Fermion Modes: Dynamical versus Quenched

We compare the low-lying eigenmodes of the O(a) improved Wilson-Dirac operator on quenched and dynamical configurations and investigate methods of probing the topological properties of gauge configurations

Low-lying fermion modes of Nf=2 improved Wilson fermions

We present preliminary results for the topological charge and susceptibility determined from the low-lying eigenmodes of the Wilson-Dirac operator. These modes have been computed on dynamical configurations with Nf=2 non-perturbatively improved Wilson fermions. We compare our results with the eigenmodes of fermions in the quenched approximation.

Phase Ordering Dynamics of $ϕ^4$ Theory with Hamiltonian Equations of Motion

Phase ordering dynamics of the (2+1)- and (3+1)-dimensional $ϕ^4$ theory with Hamiltonian equations of motion is investigated numerically. Dynamic scaling is confirmed. The dynamic exponent $z$ is different from that of the Ising model with dynamics of model A, while the exponent $λ$ is the same.

Higher-Twist Contribution to Pion Structure Function: 4-Fermi Operators

We present quenched lattice QCD results for the contribution of higher-twist operators to the lowest non-trivial moment of the pion structure function. To be specific, we consider the combination $F_2^{π^+} + F_2^{π^-} - 2 F_2^{π^0}$ which has $I = 2$ and receives contributions from 4-Fermi operators only. We introduce the basis of lattice operators. The renormalization of the operators is done perturbatively in the $\bar{\rm{MS}}$ scheme using the 't Hooft-Veltman prescription for $γ_5$, taking particular care of mixing effects. The contribution is found to be of $O(f_π^2/Q^2)$, relative to the leading contribution to the moment of $F_2^{π^+}$.

Higher-twist contributions to the Structure Functions coming from 4-fermion operators

We evaluate the contribution of a class of higher-twist operators to the lowest moment of the Structure Functions, by computing appropriate matrix elements of six four-fermion operators in the quenched approximation. Their perturbative renormalization constants and mixing coefficients are calculated in the 't Hooft-Veltman scheme of dimensional regularization, using codes written in the algebraic manipulation computer language FORM.

Resolution of the Landau pole problem in QED

We present new numerical results for the renormalized mass and coupling in non-compact lattice QED with staggered fermions. Implications for the continuum limit and the role of the Landau pole are discussed.

Is there a Landau Pole Problem in QED?

We investigate a lattice version of QED by numerical simulations. For the renormalized charge and mass we find results which are consistent with the renormalized charge vanishing in the continuum limit. A detailed study of the relation between bare and renormalized quantities reveals that the Landau pole lies in a region of parameter space which is made inaccessible by spontaneous chiral symmetry breaking.

Improved Quenched QCD on Large Lattices - First Results

Continuing our investigations of quenched QCD with improved fermions we have started simulations for lattice size 32^3 x 64 at beta=6.2. We present first results for light hadron masses at kappa=0.13520, 0.13540, and 0.13555. Moreover we compare our initial experiences on the T3E with those for APE/Quadrics systems.

Seeking the Equation of State of Non-Compact Lattice QED

We perform a high statistics calculation of the equation of state for non-compact QED on large lattices. The calculation extends to fermionic correlation lengths of $\approx 8$, and it is combined with a finite size scaling analysis of the lattice data.
