Inclusion Criteria for Subclasses of Functions and Gronwall's Inequality

A normalized analytic function f is shown to be univalent in the open unit disk D if its second coefficient is sufficiently small and relates to its Schwarzian derivative through a certain inequality. New criteria for analytic functions to be in certain subclasses of functions are established in terms of the Schwarzian derivatives and the second coefficients. These include obtaining a sufficient condition for functions to be strongly $α$-Bazileviĉ of order $β$.

Radii of Starlikeness Associated with the Lemniscate of Bernoulli and the Left-Half Plane

A normalized analytic function f defined on the open unit disk in the complex plane is in the class SL if zf'(z)/f(z) lies in the region bounded by the right-half of the lemniscate of Bernoulli given by |w^2 - 1| < 1. In the present investigation, the SL-radii for certain well-known classes of functions are obtained. Radius problems associated with the left-half plane are also investigated for these classes

Coefficient Estimates for Meromorphic Bi-Univalent Functions

A univalent meromorphic function defined on $Δ:= \{z \in \mathbb{C}: 1<|z|<\infty \}$ with univalent inverse defined on $Δ$ is bi-univalent meromorphic in $Δ$. For certain subclasses of meromorphic bi-univalent functions, estimates on the initial coefficients are obtained.

Subordination and superordination for multivalent functions defined by linear operators

In this paper, certain linear operators defined on $p$-valent analytic functions have been unified and for them some subordination and superordination results as well as the corresponding sandwich type results are obtained. A related integral transform is discussed and sufficient conditions for functions in different classes have been obtained.

A first-order differential double subordination with applications

Let $q_1$ and $q_2$ belong to a certain class of normalized analytic univalent functions in the open unit disk of the complex plane. Sufficient conditions are obtained for normalized analytic functions $p$ to satisfy the double subordination chain $q_1(z)\prec p(z)\prec q_2(z)$. The differential sandwich-type result obtained is applied to normalized univalent functions and to $Φ$-like functions.

Coefficient estimates for bi-univalent Ma-Minda starlike and convex functions

Estimates on the initial coefficients are obtained for normalized analytic functions $f$ in the open unit disk with $f$ and its inverse $g=f^{-1}$ satisfying the conditions that $zf'(z)/f(z)$ and $zg'(z)/g(z)$ are both subordinate to a starlike univalent function whose range is symmetric with respect to the real axis. Several related classes of functions are also considered, and connections to earlier known results are made.

Uniformly Convex and Uniformly Starlike Functions

A normalized univalent function is uniformly convex if it maps every circular arc contained in the open unit disk with center in it into a convex curve. This article surveys recent results on the class of uniformly convex functions and on an analogous class of uniformly starlike functions.

Effect of the shape of periodic forces and second periodic forces on horseshoe chaos in Duffing oscillator

The effect of the shape of six different periodic forces and second periodic forces on the onset of horseshoe chaos are studied both analytically and numerically in a Duffing oscillator. The external periodic forces considered are sine wave, square wave, symmetric saw-tooth wave, asymmetric saw-tooth wave, rectified sine wave, and modulus of sine wave. An analytical threshold condition for the onset of horseshoe chaos is obtained in the Duffing oscillator driven by various periodic forces using the Melnikov method. Melnikov threshold curve is drawn in a parameter space. For all the forces except modulus of sine wave, the onset of cross-well asymptotic chaos is observed just above the Melnikov threshold curve for onset of horseshoe chaos. For the modulus of sine wave long time transient motion followed by a periodic attractor is realized. The possibility of controlling of horseshoe and asymptotic chaos in the Duffing oscillator by an addition of second periodic force is then analyzed. Parametric regimes where suppression of horseshoe chaos occurs are predicted. Analytical prediction is demonstrated through direct numerical simulations. Starting from asymptotic chaos we show the recovery of periodic motion for a range of values of amplitude and phase of the second periodic force. Interestingly, suppression of chaos is found in the parametric regimes where the Melnikov function does not change sign.
