Threshold corrections to rapidity distributions of Z and W^\pm bosons beyond N^2 LO at hadron colliders

Threshold enhanced perturbative QCD corrections to rapidity distributions of $Z$ and $W^\pm$ bosons at hadron colliders are presented using the Sudakov resummed cross sections at N${}^3$LO level. We have used renormalisation group invariance and the mass factorisation theorem that these hard scattering cross sections satisfy to construct the QCD amplitudes. We show that these higher order threshold QCD corrections stabilise the theoretical predictions for vector boson production at the LHC under variations of both renormalisation and factorisation scales.

QCD prerequisites for extra dimension searches

For the dilepton production at hadron collider in TeV scale gravity models, inclusion of QCD corrections to NLO stabilises the cross section with respect to scale variations. The K-factors for the various distributions for the ADD and RS model at both LHC and Tevatron are presented.

PDF and scale uncertainties of various DY distributions in ADD and RS models at hadron colliders

In the extra dimension models of ADD and RS we study the dependence of the various parton distribution functions on observable of Drell-Yan process to NLO in QCD at LHC and Tevatron energies. Uncertainties at LHC due to factorisation scales in going from leading to next-to-leading order in QCD for the various distributions get reduced by about 2.75 times for a $μ_F$ range $0.5 ~Q < μ_F < 1.5 ~Q$. Further uncertainties arising from the error on experimental data are estimated using the MRST parton distribution functions.

QCD threshold corrections to di-lepton and Higgs rapidity distributions beyond N${}^2$LO

We present threshold enhanced QCD corrections to rapidity distributions of di-leptons in the Drell-Yan process and of Higgs particles in both gluon fusion and bottom quark annihilation processes using Sudakov resummed cross sections. We have used renormalisation group invariance and the mass factorisation theorem that these hard scattering cross sections satisfy as well as Sudakov resummation of QCD amplitudes. We find that these higher order threshold QCD corrections stabilise the theoretical predictions under scale variations.

Angular distribution of Drell-Yan process at hadron colliders to NLO-QCD in models of TeV scale gravity

In TeV scale gravity models, for dilepton production at hadron colliders, we present the NLO-QCD corrections for the double differential cross section in the invariant mass and scattering angle. For both ADD and RS models, the quantitative impact of QCD corrections for extra dimension searches at LHC and Tevatron are investigated. We present the K-factors for both ADD and RS models at LHC and Tevatron. Inclusion of QCD corrections to NLO stabilises the cross section with respect to scale variations.

QCD threshold corrections to Higgs decay and to hadroproduction in $l^+l^-$ annihilation

We present threshold enhanced QCD corrections to the bottom quark energy distribution in Higgs boson decay and to hadroproduction in $l^+l^-$ annihilation beyond leading order in the strong coupling constant. This is achieved using the resummed decay distribution obtained using renormalisation group invariance and the mass factorisation theorem that they satisfy and Sudakov resummation of soft gluons.

$O(α_s^2)$ Timelike Wilson Coefficients for Parton-Fragmentation Functions in Mellin Space

We calculate the Mellin moments of the $O(α_s^2)$ coefficient functions for the unpolarized and polarized fragmentation functions. They can be expressed in terms of multiple finite harmonic sums of maximal weight {\sf w = 4}. Using algebraic and structural relations between harmonic sums one finds that besides the single harmonic sums only three basic sums and their derivatives w.r.t. the summation index contribute. The Mellin moments are analytically continued to complex values of the Mellin variable. This representation significantly reduces the large complexity being present in $x$--space calculations and allow very compact and fast numerical implementations.

Higher-Order threshold effects to inclusive processes in QCD

We present threshold enhanced QCD corrections to inclusive processes such as Deep inelastic scattering, Drell-Yan process and Higgs productions through gluon fusion and bottom quark annihilation processes using the resummed cross sections. The resummed cross sections are derived using renormalisation group invariance and mass factorisation theorem that these hard scattering cross sections satisfy and Sudakov resummation of QCD amplitudes. We show how these higher order threshold QCD corrections improve the theoretical predictions for the Higgs production through gluon fusion at hadron colliders.

On Sudakov and Soft resummations in QCD

In this article we extract soft distribution functions for Drell-Yan and Higgs production processes using mass factorisation theorem and the perturbative results that are known upto three loop level. We find that they are maximally non-abelien. We show that these functions satisfy Sudakov type integro differential equations. The formal solutions to such equations and also to the mass factorisation kernel upto four loop level are presented. Using the soft distribution function extracted from Drell-Yan production, we show how the soft plus virtual cross section for the Higgs production can be obtained. We determine the threshold resummation exponents upto three loop using the soft distribution function.

NLO Corrections to lepton pair production beyond the Standard Model at hadron colliders

We consider lepton pair production at a hadron collider in a class of effective theories with the relevant operators being four-fermion contact interaction. Despite the nonrenormalizable nature of the interaction, we explicitly demonstrate that calculating QCD corrections is both possible and meaningful. Calculating the corrections for various differential distributions, we show that these can be substantial and significantly different from those within the SM. Furthermore, the corrections have a very distinctive flavour dependence. And finally, the scale dependence of the cross sections are greatly reduced once the NLO corrections are taken into account.

Parton Distributions: Summary Report

We provide an assessment of the impact of parton distributions on the determination of LHC processes, and of the accuracy with which parton distributions (PDFs) can be extracted from data, in particular from current and forthcoming HERA experiments. We give an overview of reference LHC processes and their associated PDF uncertainties, and study in detail W and Z production at the LHC. We discuss the precision which may be obtained from the analysis of existing HERA data, tests of consistency of HERA data from different experiments, and the combination of these data. We determine further improvements on PDFs which may be obtained from future HERA data (including measurements of $F_L$), and from combining present and future HERA data with present and future hadron collider data. We review the current status of knowledge of higher (NNLO) QCD corrections to perturbative evolution and deep-inelastic scattering, and provide reference results for their impact on parton evolution, and we briefly examine non-perturbative models for parton distributions. We discuss the state-of-the art in global parton fits, we assess the impact on them of various kinds of data and of theoretical corrections, by providing benchmarks of Alekhin and MRST parton distributions and a CTEQ analysis of parton fit stability, and we briefly presents proposals for alternative approaches to parton fitting. We summarize the status of large and small x resummation, by providing estimates of the impact of large x resummation on parton fits, and a comparison of different approaches to small x resummation, for which we also discuss numerical techniques.

NLO-QCD Corrections to Dilepton Production in the Randall-Sundrum Model

The dilepton production process at hadron colliders in the Randall-Sundrum (RS) model is studied at next-to-leading order in QCD. The NLO-QCD corrections have been computed for the virtual graviton exchange process in the RS model, in addition to the usual gamma, Z-mediated processes of standard Drell-Yan. K-factors for the cross-sections at the LHC and Tevatron for differential in the invariant mass, Q, and the rapidity, Y, of the lepton pair are presented. We find the K-factors are large over substantial regions of the phase space.

Mellin Moments of the Next-to-next-to Leading Order Coefficient Functions for the Drell-Yan Process and Hadronic Higgs-Boson Production

We calculate the Mellin moments of the next-to-next-to leading order coefficient functions for the Drell--Yan and Higgs production cross sections. The results can be expressed in terms of multiple finite harmonic sums of maximal weight w = 4. Using algebraic and structural relations between harmonic sums one finds that besides the single harmonic sums only five basic sums and their derivatives w.r.t. the summation index contribute. This representation reduces the large complexity being present in x-space calculations and is well suited for fast numerical implementations.

Next-to-Leading Order QCD Corrections to the Drell-Yan Cross Section in Models of TeV-Scale Gravity

The first results on next-to-leading order QCD corrections to graviton-induced processes in hadron collisions in models of TeV-scale gravity are presented focusing on the case of dilepton pair production in \bar p p and pp collisions. Distributions in the invariant mass Q, the longitudinal fraction x_F, the rapidity Y and the forward-backward asymmetry of the lepton pair are studied. The quantitative impact of the QCD corrections for searches of extra dimensions at hadron colliders is investigated. It turns out that at the LHC (\sqrt{S}=14 TeV) the K-factor is rather large (K=1.6) for large invariant mass Q of the lepton pair, indicating the importance of accounting for these QCD corrections in the experimental search for TeV-scale gravity. At the Tevatron, the K-factor does not substantially deviate from the Standard Model value. However, its inclusion is necessitated to make the cross-section stable with respect to scale variations.

Two-loop corrections to Higgs boson production

In this paper we present the complete two-loop vertex corrections to scalar and pseudo-scalar Higgs boson production for general colour factors for the gauge group ${\rm SU(N)}$ in the limit where the top quark mass gets infinite. We derive a general formula for the vertex correction which holds for conserved and non conserved operators. For the conserved operator we take the electromagnetic vertex correction as an example whereas for the non conserved operators we take the two vertex corrections above. Our observations for the structure of the pole terms $1/ε^4$, $1/ε^3$ and $1/ε^2$ in two loop order are the same as made earlier in the literature for electromagnetism. However we also elucidate the origin of the second order single pole term which is equal to the second order singular part of the anomalous dimension plus a universal function which is the same for the quark and the gluon. NNLO coefficient functions of Higgs and Drell--Yan cross sections in Mellin space

We calculate the Mellin moments of next-to-next-to-leading order coefficient functions of the Drell-Yan and Higgs production cross sections. The results can be expressed in term of finite harmonic sums which are maximally threefold up to weight four. Various algebraic relations among these finite sums reduce the complexity of the results suitable for fast numerical evaluations. It is shown that only five non--trivial functions occur besides Euler's $ψ$--function in the representation of these Wilson coefficients.

NNLO Corrections to the Higgs Production Cross Section

We discuss the next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO) corrections to the total cross section for (pseudo-) scalar Higgs boson production. The computation is carried out in the effective Lagrangian approach which emerges from the standard model by taking the limit $m_t \to \infty$ where $m_t$ denotes the mass of the top quark.
