Gribov's Theorem on Soft Emission and the Reggeon-Reggeon-Gluon Vertex at Small Transverse Momentum

In spite of the fact that the Gribov's theorem about the region of applicability of the soft emission factorization cannot be referred literally to the case of massless charged particles, it can be used for the calculation of soft emission amplitudes in such a case also. We demonstrate this for the gluon production amplitude in the multi-Regge kinematics with small transverse momentum.

Small-Angle Electron-Positron Scattering

We consider small--angle electron--positron scattering in Quantum Electrodynamics. Leading logarithmic contributions to the cross--section are explicitly calculated to three loop. Next--to--leading terms are exactly computed to two loop. All the radiative corrections due to photons as well as pair production are taken into account. The impact of newly evaluated next-to-leading and higher order leading corrections is discussed and numerical results are explicitly given. The results obtained are generally valid for high and low energy $e^+e^-$ colliders. At LEP and SLC these results can be used to reduce the uncertainty on the cross--section below the per mille level. PACS numbers 12.15.Lk, 12.20.--m, 12.20.Ds, 13.40.--f

Small-Angle Electron-Positron Scattering with a Per Mille Accuracy

The elastic and inelastic high--energy small--angle electron--positron scattering is considered. All radiative corrections to the cross--section with the relative accuracy $δσ/ σ= 0.1 \% $ are explicitly taken into account. According to the generalized eikonal representation for the elastic amplitude, in higher orders only diagrams with one exchanged photon may be considered. Single photon emission with radiative corrections and next--to--leading two--photon and pair production diagrams are evaluated, together with leading three--loop corrections. All contributions have been calculated analytically. We integrate the calculated distributions over typical for LEP~1 experiments intervals of angles and energies. To the leading approximation, the results are shown to be described in terms of kernels of electron structure functions. Some numerical results are presented. Gluon Regge Trajectory in the two-loop Approximation

Evaluating two-loop integrals in the transverse momentum space we obtain the trajectory of the Reggeized gluon in QCD in an explicit form in the two-loop approximation. It is presented as an expansion in powers of $(D-4)$ for the space-time dimension $D$ tending to the physical value $D=4$. As the result of a remarkable cancellation the third order pole in$D-4$ disappears in the trajectory and the expansion starts with $(D-4)^{-2}$.

Next-to-leading Corrections to the BFKL Equation From the Gluon and Quark Production

The gluon and quark production in the quasi-multi-Regge kinematics is considered. The differential cross section for different helicity states is calculated. The dimensional regularization is used to remove the infrared divergencies in the corresponding contributions to the BFKL-equation. The other next-to-leading corrections are discussed.

Higher-order Coulomb Corrections to the Threshold e+ e- --> W+ W- Cross Section

The QED Coulomb correction is one of the most important corrections to the e+ e- --> W+ W- total cross section near threshold. We calculate these corrections through second order, and discuss the implications for extracting M_W from a threshold cross section measurement at LEP2. Analytic expressions are derived in various kinematic limits.

Reggeization of quark-quark scattering amplitude in QCD

$s$-channel discontinuity of quark-quark scattering amplitude with gluon quantum numbers in the $t$ channel and negative signature is calculated in the Regge kinematical region in the two-loop approximation. Using this discontinuity and assuming that the Regge asymptotic behaviour is given by the Reggeized gluon contribution, we calculate the gluon trajectory in the two-loop approximation. Remarkable cancellations lead to the independence of the trajectory on properties of the scattered quarks, confirming the gluon Reggeization.

COULOMB EFFECTS IN W+ W- PRODUCTION

We calculate the Coulomb effects on the cross section for e+ e- --> W+ W- taking into account the instability of the W bosons. We carefully explain the consequences of instability throughout the energy range which will be accessible at LEP2. We present a formula which allows these effects to be easily implemented.

Quark contribution to the reggeon-reggeon-gluon vertex in QCD

The quark loop contribution to the reggeon-reggeon-gluon vertex is calculated in QCD, where the reggeon is the reggeized gluon. Compared with the vertex in the Born approximation, this contribution exhibits a new spin structure as well as the gluon loop one. A remarkable but not complete cancellation between gluon and quark contributions to this new spin structure takes place for the case of three massless quark flavours.

Top quark polarization as a probe of $t\bar{t}$ threshold dynamics

We study the spin properties of top quarks produced in collisions of polarized photons in the threshold region. For a relatively heavy top quark the influence of non-perturbative effects is small and its polarization parameters can be predicted in perturbative QCD. The measurements of the top polarization may allow a novel test of QCD in the $t\bar{t}$ system. In particular, they may provide a new way to determine the precise value of $α_s$ and to study the properties of the top quark.

Radiative corrections to quark-quark-reggeon vertex in QCD

One loop corrections to the coupling of the reggeized gluon to quarks are calculated in QCD. Combining this result with the known corrections to the gluon-gluon-reggeon vertex, we check the self-consistency of the representation of the amplitudes with gluon quantum numbers and negative signature in the $t$-channel in terms of Regge pole contribution.
