Statistical Multifragmentation Model Within the Extended Morphological Thermodynamics Approach

On the basis of morphological thermodynamics we develop an exactly solvable version of statistical mutifragmentation model for the nuclear liquid-gas phase transition. It is shown that the hard-core repulsion between spherical nuclei generates only the bulk (volume), surface and curvature parts of the free energy of the nucleus, while the Gaussian curvature one does not appear in the derivation. The phase diagram of nuclear liquid-gas phase transition is studied for a truncated version of the developed model.

Constraints on the fermionic dark matter from observations of neutron stars

We study an impact of asymmetric fermionic dark matter on neutron star properties, including tidal deformability, mass, radius, etc. We present the conditions at which dark matter particles tend to form a compact structure in a core of the star or create an extended halo around it. We show that compact core of dark matter leads to a decrease of the total gravitational mass and tidal deformability compared to a pure baryonic star, while presence of a dark matter halo increases those observable quantities. By imposing an existing astrophysical and gravitational wave constraints set by LIGO/Virgo Collaboration together with the recent results on the spatial distribution of dark matter in the Milky Way we determine a new upper limit on the mass and fraction of dark matter particles inside compact stars. Furthermore, we show that the formation of an extended halo around a NS is incompatible with the GW170817 tidal deformability constraint.

Neutron stars: new constraints on asymmetric dark matter

We study an impact of asymmetric dark matter on properties of the neutron stars and their ability to reach the two solar masses limit, which allows us to present a new range of masses of dark matter particles and their fractions inside the star. Our analysis is based on the observational fact of the existence of two pulsars reaching this limit and on the theoretically predicted reduction of the neutron star maximal mass caused by the accumulation of dark matter in its interior. We also demonstrate that light dark matter particles with masses below 0.2 GeV can create an extended halo around the neutron star leading not to decrease, but to increase of its visible gravitational mass. By using recent results on the spatial distribution of dark matter in the Milky Way, we present an estimate of its fraction inside the neutron stars located in the Galaxy center. We show how the detection of a 2 Msun neutron star in the most central region of the Galaxy will impose an upper constraint on the mass of dark matter particles of ~ 60 GeV. Future high precision measurements of the neutron stars maximal mass near the Galactic center, will put a more stringent constraint on the mass of the dark matter particle. This last result is particularly important to prepare ongoing, and future radio and x-ray surveys.

Asteroseismology: radial oscillations of neutron stars with realistic equation of state

We study radial oscillations of non-rotating neutron stars (NSs) in four-dimensional General Relativity. The interior of the NS was modelled within a recently proposed multicomponent realistic equation of state (EoS) with the induced surface tension (IST). In particular, we considered the IST EoS with two sets of model parameters, that both reproduce all the known properties of normal nuclear matter, give a high quality description of the proton flow constraint, hadron multiplicities created in nuclear-nuclear collisions, consistent with astrophysical observations and the observational data from the NS-NS merger. We computed the 12 lowest radial oscillation modes, their frequencies and corresponding eigenfunctions, as well as the large frequency separation for six selected fiducial NSs (with different radii and masses of 1.2, 1.5 and 1.9 solar masses) of the two distinct model sets. The calculated frequencies show their continuous growth with an increase of the NS central baryon density. Moreover, we found correlations between the behaviour of first eigenfunction calculated for the fundamental mode, the adiabatic index and the speed of sound profile, which could be used to probe the internal structure of NSs with the asteroseismology data.

Second look to the Polyakov Loop Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model at finite baryonic density

We revisit the Polyakov Loop coupled Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model that maintains the Polyakov loop dynamics in the limit of zero temperature. This is of interest for astrophysical applications in the interior of neutron stars. For this purpose we re-examine the form of the potential for the deconfinement order parameter at finite baryonic densities. Since the modification of this potential at any temperature is formally equivalent to assigning a baryonic charge to gluons, we develop a more general formulation of the present model that cures this spurious effect and is normalized to match the asymptotic behaviour of the QCD equation of state given by $\mathcal{O}(α_s^2)$ and partial $\mathcal{O}(α_s^3\ln^2α_s)$ perturbative results.

Neutron stars meet constraints from high and low energy nuclear physics

A novel equation of state used for analysis of the heavy ion collision experimental data is generalized to also describe the matter inside neutron stars. This approach differs from others by including an induced surface tension caused by the short range repulsion between particles accounted by presence of their hard cores. This new equation of state respects thermodynamic consistency and is free from the usual causality problems. This makes it applicable over a wide range of temperatures and baryon densities, including the ones inside neutron stars. Despite small number of parameters the present equation of state reproduces properties of the saturated nuclear matter and is consistent with the proton flow constraint as well as with astrophysical data obtained from neutron star observations. Accordingly, we found the sets of parameters that agree with the same ones obtained from the heavy ion collision data analysis.

Geometrical clusterization of Polyakov loops in SU(2) lattice gluodynamics

The liquid droplet formula is applied to an analysis of the properties of geometrical (anti)clusters formed in SU(2) gluodynamics by the Polyakov loops of the same sign. Using this approach, we explain the phase transition in SU(2) gluodynamics as a transition between two liquids during which one of the liquid droplets (the largest cluster of a certain Polyakov loop sign) experiences a condensation, while the droplet of another liquid (the next to the largest cluster of the opposite sign of Polyakov loop) evaporates. The clusters of smaller sizes form two accompanying gases, which behave oppositely to their liquids. The liquid droplet formula is used to analyze the size distributions of the gaseous (anti)clusters. The fit of these distributions allows us to extract the temperature dependence of surface tension and the value of Fisher topological exponent $τ$ for both kinds of gaseous clusters. It is shown that the surface tension coeficient of gaseous (anti)clusters can serve as an order parameter of the deconfinement phase transition in SU(2) gluodynamics. The Fisher topological exponent $τ$ of clusters and anticlusters is found to have the same value $1.806 \pm 0.008$. This value disagrees with the famous Fisher droplet model, but it agrees well with an exactly solvable model of the nuclear liquid-gas phase transition. This finding may evidence for the fact that the SU(2) gluodynamics and this exactly solvable model of nuclear liquid-gas phase transition are in the same universality class.
