Renormalizability and model independent description of Z' signals at low energies

Model independent search for signals of heavy Z' gauge bosons in low-energy four-fermion processes is analyzed. It is shown that the renormalizability of the underlying theory containing Z', formulated as a scattering in the field of heavy virtual states, can be implemented in specific relations between different processes. Considering the two-Higgs-doublet model as the low-energy basis theory, the two types of Z' interactions with light particles are found to be compatible with the renormalizability. They are called the Abelian and the "chiral" couplings. Observables giving possibility to uniquely detect Z' in both cases are introduced.

Renormalization group relations and searching for abelian Z' Boson in the four-fermionic processes

The method of searching for signals of heavy virtual particles is developed. It is based on a renormalization group equation for the low energy effective Lagrangian and the decoupling theorem. As an application, the model independent search for Abelian Z' boson in four-fermion processes is analyzed. The basic one-loop renormalization group relation for the parameters of the effective Lagrangian is derived which gives possibility to reduce the problem to the scattering of the Standard Model particles in the ``external field'' substituting heavy virtual Z' state. From the set of derived relations it is determined that the absolute value of the Z' coupling to the axial currents has to be the same for all fermions and is strongly correlated to the Z' coupling to the scalar fields. The corresponding dependences between the parameters of the effective Lagrangians are derived.

Photon splitting and photon-plasmon interaction in a dense medium

Three-photon vertex in a dense degenerated plasma is calculated. It is discovered the polarization tensor has the longitudinal part which makes possible an interaction between transverse and longitudinal modes in the medium. Using dispersion relations it is shown that the only kinematically permitted type of the photon splitting is the decay of the transverse photon to two plasmons.

Renormalizability and the model independent observables for abelian Z' search

The observables useful for the model independent search for signals of the abelian Z' in the processes e^+ e^- \to {\bar f}f are introduced. They are based on the renormalization group relations between the Z' couplings to the Standard Model particles developed recently and extend the variables suggested by Osland, Pankov and Paver. The bounds on the values of the observables at the center-of-mass energy \sqrt{s} = 500GeV are derived.

Renormalization group and relations between scattering amplitudes in a theory with different mass scales

In the Yukawa model with two different mass scales the renormalization group equation is used to obtain relations between scattering amplitudes at low energies. Considering fermion-fermion scattering as an example, a basic one-loop renormalization group relation is derived which gives possibility to reduce the problem to the scattering of light particles on the "external field" substituting a heavy virtual state. Applications of the results to problems of searching new physics beyond the Standard Model are discussed.

The Effective electromagnetic interaction in a dense fermionic medium in QED_{2+1}

The effective Lagrangian of arbitrary varying in space electromagnetic field in a dense medium is derived. It has been used for investigation of interaction between charged fermions in the medium. It is shown the possibility for the formation of metastable electron bound states in the medium when external magnetic field is applied.

$A_0$ condensate in QCD

A survey devoted to $A_0$-condensate in gauge theories at high temperature is presented. Both the theoretical foundations of the spontaneously generated condensate and known methods of its calculation are discussed. As most important consequence the SU(N) global symmetry breakdown is investigated in details. Influence of $A_0$ on matter fields is studied in different aspects. Some new results concerning this subject are reported as well.
