The Periodic Table and the Group SO(4,4): II. Double SO(4,2)-tower

A group-theoretic interpretation of the periodic system of elements is given within the framework of the weight diagram of the Lie algebra $\mathfrak{so}(4,4)$ of the fourth rank, where the four quantum numbers $n$, $l$, $m$, $s$ correspond to the eigenvalues (weights) of the Cartan generators of the maximal Abelian subalgebra (the maximal torus of the group SO(4,4)). It is shown that the root system of the algebra $\mathfrak{so}(4,4)$ forms a regular four-dimensional self-dual polyhedron (24-cell). The action of the fourth Cartan generator associated with spin leads to a splitting of the Cartan-Weyl basis of the algebra $\mathfrak{so}(4,4)$ into two structurally identical bases, each of which is isomorphic to the Yao basis of the subalgebra $\mathfrak{so}(4,2)$ (the Lie algebra of the conformal group). At this point, a four-dimensional 24-cell is projected onto two three-dimensional cuboctahedra, each of which defines the root system of the subalgebra $\mathfrak{so}(4,2)$. This splitting physically corresponds to spin doubling (two-valuedness). The structure of the energy levels of a periodic system is studied, the states of which (chemical elements) are represented as nodes of the weight diagram of the group algebra $\mathfrak{so}(4,4)$. The structure of the double SO(4,2)-towers of Mendeleev, Seaborg, and 10-periodic extension is examined in detail. The period doubling associated with the sequence of period lengths 2, 8, 8, 18, 18, 32, 32, $\ldots$ of the periodic system of elements is explained by the action of the fourth Cartan generator. It is shown that antimatter (Mendeleev anti-table consisting of antihydrogen, antihelium, antilitium, $\ldots$) is naturally included in the general group-theoretic scheme of description of the periodic table.

Rozenfeld's Geometric Approach to Spinors

Rosenfeld's geometric approach to spinors is considered, according to which the coordinates of spinors are represented by the coordinates of the plane generators of the maximal dimension of the absolutes of non-Euclidean spaces. As an example, non-Euclidean spaces with neutral signatures are investigated.

The Periodic Table and the Group SO(4,4)

The periodic system of chemical elements is represented within the framework of the weight diagram of the Lie algebra of the fourth rank of the rotation group of an eight-dimensional pseudo-Euclidean space. The hydrogen realization of the Cartan subalgebra and Weyl generators of the group algebra is studied. The root structure of the subalgebras of the group algebra of a conformal group in the framework of a twofold covering is analyzed. Based on the analysis, the Cartan-Weyl basis of the group algebra is determined. The root and weight diagrams are constructed. A mass formula associated with each node of the weight diagram is introduced. Spin is interpreted as the fourth generator of the Cartan subalgebra, whose two eigenvalues correspond to two three-dimensional projections of the weight diagram containing elements of the periodic system from hydrogen to moscovium (the first projection) and from helium to oganesson (the second projection). One of the main advantages of the proposed group-theoretic construction of the periodic system is the natural inclusion of antimatter in the general scheme.

Group Theory and Mass Quantization

The mass spectrum problem (the 14th Ginzburg's problem) is analyzed in terms of the conventional reductional and alternative holistic frameworks. From the holistic viewpoint, substance (the same as energy) is the primary concept and particles are secondary and emergent. An axiomatic system is proposed where the basic notion of the spectrum of matter is defined, and the particle spectrum emerges as a result of the energy/mass quantization. A new mass formula is derived in terms of the quantum numbers related to the Lorentz group Casimir eigenvalues. It is shown that the masses of states in the lepton and hadron sectors of the spectrum of matter are proportional to the electron rest mass (quantum of mass) with an accuracy of $0,41\%$ on average.

Spinors in $\mathbb{K}$-Hilbert Spaces

We consider a structure of the $\mathbb{K}$-Hilbert space, where $\mathbb{K}\simeq\mathbb{R}$ is a field of real numbers, $\mathbb{K}\simeq\mathbb{C}$ is a field of complex numbers, $\mathbb{K}\simeq\mathbb{H}$ is a quaternion algebra, within the framework of division rings of Clifford algebras. The $\mathbb{K}$-Hilbert space is generated by the Gelfand-Naimark-Segal construction, while the generating $C^\ast$-algebra consists of the energy operator $H$ and the generators of the group $SU(2,2)$ attached to $H$. The cyclic vectors of the $\mathbb{K}$-Hilbert space corresponding to the tensor products of quaternionic algebras define the pure separable states of the operator algebra. Depending on the division ring $\mathbb{K}$, all states of the operator algebra are divided into three classes: 1) charged states with $\mathbb{K}\simeq\mathbb{C}$; 2) neutral states with $\mathbb{K}\simeq\mathbb{H}$; 3) truly neutral states with $\mathbb{K}\simeq\mathbb{R}$. For pure separable states that define the fermionic and bosonic states of the energy spectrum, the fusion, doubling (complexification) and annihilation operations are determined.

Towards a More Complete and Accurate Experimental Nuclear Reaction Data Library (EXFOR): International Collaboration Between Nuclear Reaction Data Centres (NRDC)

The International Network of Nuclear Reaction Data Centres (NRDC) coordinated by the IAEA Nuclear Data Section (NDS) is successfully collaborating in the maintenance and development of the EXFOR library. As the scope of published data expands (e.g., to higher energy, to heavier projectile) to meet the needs from the frontier of sciences and applications, it becomes nowadays a hard and challenging task to maintain both completeness and accuracy of the whole EXFOR library. The paper describes evolution of the library with highlights on recent developments.

Group Theoretical Description of Mendeleev Periodic System

The group theoretical description of the periodic system of elements in the framework of the Rumer-Fet model is considered. We introduce the concept of a single quantum system, the generating core of which is an abstract $C^\ast$-algebra. It is shown that various concrete implementations of the operator algebra depend on the structure of generators of the fundamental symmetry group attached to the energy operator. In the case of generators of the complex shell of a group algebra of a conformal group, the spectrum of states of a single quantum system is given in the framework of the basic representation of the Rumer-Fet group, which leads to a group-theoretic interpretation of the Mendeleev's periodic system of elements. A mass formula is introduced that allows to give the termwise mass splitting for the main multiplet of the Rumer-Fet group. The masses of elements of the Seaborg table (eight-periodic extension of the Mendeleev table) are calculated starting from the atomic number $Z=121$ to $Z=220$. The continuation of Seaborg homology between lanthanides and actinides is established to the group of superactinides. A 10-periodic extension of the periodic table is introduced in the framework of the group-theoretic approach. The multiplet structure of the extended table periods is considered in detail. It is shown that the period lengths of the system of elements are determined by the structure of the basic representation of the Rumer-Fet group. The theoretical masses of the elements of 10th and 11th periods are calculated starting from $Z=221$ to $Z=364$. The concept of hypertwistor is introduced.

On algebraic structure of matter spectrum

An algebraic structure of matter spectrum is studied. It is shown that a base mathematical construction, lying in the ground of matter spectrum (introduced by Heisenberg) , is a two-level Hilbert space. Two-level structure of the Hilbert space is defined by the following pair: 1) a separable Hilbert space with operator algebras and fundamental symmetries; 2) a nonseparable (physical) Hilbert space with dynamical and gauge symmetries, that is, a space of states (energy levels) of the matter spectrum. The each state of matter spectrum is defined by a cyclic representation within Gel'fand-Naimark-Segal construction. A decomposition of the physical Hilbert space onto coherent subspaces is given. This decomposition allows one to describe the all observed spectrum of states on an equal footing, including lepton, meson and baryon sectors of the matter spectrum. Following to Heisenberg, we assume that there exist no fundamental particles, there exist fundamental symmetries. It is shown also that all the symmetries of matter spectrum are divided onto three kinds: fundamental, dynamical and gauge symmetries.

Lorentz group and mass spectrum of elementary particles

Mass spectrum of localized states (elementary particles) of single quantum system is studied in the framework of Heisenberg's scheme. Localized states are understood as cyclic representations of a group of fundamental symmetry (Lorentz group) within a Gelfand-Neumark-Segal construction. It is shown that state masses of lepton (except the neutrino) and hadron sectors of matter spectrum are proportional to the rest mass of electron with an accuracy of $0,41\%$.

Spinor Structure and Matter Spectrum

Classification of relativistic wave equations is given on the ground of interlocking representations of the Lorentz group. A system of interlocking representations is associated with a system of eigenvector subspaces of the energy operator. Such a correspondence allows one to define matter spectrum, where the each level of this spectrum presents a some state of elementary particle. An elementary particle is understood as a superposition of state vectors in nonseparable Hilbert space. Classification of indecomposable systems of relativistic wave equations is produced for bosonic and fermionic fields on an equal footing (including Dirac and Maxwell equations). All these fields are equivalent levels of matter spectrum, which differ from each other by the value of mass and spin. It is shown that a spectrum of the energy operator, corresponding to a given matter level, is non-degenerate for the fields of type $(l,0)\oplus(0,l)$, where $l$ is a spin value, whereas for arbitrary spin chains we have degenerate spectrum. Energy spectra of the stability levels (electron and proton states) of the matter spectrum are studied in detail. It is shown that these stability levels have a nature of threshold scales of the fractal structure associated with the system of interlocking representations of the Lorentz group.

CPT Groups of Spinor Fields in de Sitter and Anti-de Sitter Spaces

$CPT$ groups for spinor fields in de Sitter and anti-de Sitter spaces are defined in the framework of automorphism groups of Clifford algebras. It is shown that de Sitter spaces with mutually opposite signatures correspond to Clifford algebras with different algebraic structure that induces an essential difference of $CPT$ groups associated with these spaces. $CPT$ groups for charged particles are considered with respect to phase factors on the various spinor spaces related with real subalgebras of the simple Clifford algebra over the complex field (Dirac algebra). It is shown that $CPT$ groups for neutral particles which admit particle-antiparticle interchange and $CPT$ groups for truly neutral particles are described within semisimple Clifford algebras with quaternionic and real division rings, respectively. A difference between bosonic and fermionic $CPT$ groups is discussed.

Spinor Structure and Internal Symmetries

Spinor structure and internal symmetries are considered within one theoretical framework based on the generalized spin and abstract Hilbert space. Complex momentum is understood as a generating kernel of the underlying spinor structure. It is shown that tensor products of biquaternion algebras are associated with the each irreducible representation of the Lorentz group. Space-time discrete symmetries $P$, $T$ and their combination $PT$ are generated by the fundamental automorphisms of this algebraic background (Clifford algebras). Charge conjugation $C$ is presented by a pseudoautomorphism of the complex Clifford algebra. This description of the operation $C$ allows one to distinguish charged and neutral particles including particle-antiparticle interchange and truly neutral particles. Spin and charge multiplets, based on the interlocking representations of the Lorentz group, are introduced. A central point of the work is a correspondence between Wigner definition of elementary particle as an irreducible representation of the Poincaré group and $SU(3)$-description (quark scheme) of the particle as a vector of the supermultiplet (irreducible representation of $SU(3)$). This correspondence is realized on the ground of a spin-charge Hilbert space. Basic hadron supermultiplets of $SU(3)$-theory (baryon octet and two meson octets) are studied in this framework. It is shown that quark phenomenologies are naturally incorporated into presented scheme. The relationship between mass and spin is established. The introduced spin-mass formula and its combination with Gell-Mann--Okubo mass formula allows one to take a new look at the problem of mass spectrum of elementary particles.

Spinor Structure and Modulo 8 Periodicity

Spinor structure is understood as a totality of tensor products of biquaternion algebras, and the each tensor product is associated with an irreducible representation of the Lorentz group. A so-defined algebraic structure allows one to apply modulo 8 periodicity of Clifford algebras on the system of real and quaternionic representations of the Lorentz group. It is shown that modulo 8 periodic action of the Brauer-Wall group generates modulo 2 periodic relations on the system of representations, and all the totality of representations under this action forms a self-similar fractal structure. Some relations between spinors, twistors and qubits are discussed in the context of quantum information and decoherence theory.

Cyclic structures of Cliffordian supergroups and particle representations of Spin_+(1,3)

Supergroups are defined in the framework of $\dZ_2$-graded Clifford algebras over the fields of real and complex numbers, respectively. It is shown that cyclic structures of complex and real supergroups are defined by Brauer-Wall groups related with the modulo 2 and modulo 8 periodicities of the complex and real Clifford algebras. Particle (fermionic and bosonic) representations of a universal covering (spinor group $\spin_+(1,3)$) of the proper orthochronous Lorentz group are constructed via the Clifford algebra formalism. Complex and real supergroups are defined on the representation system of $\spin_+(1,3)$. It is shown that a cyclic (modulo 2) structure of the complex supergroup is equivalent to a supersymmetric action, that is, it converts fermionic representations into bosonic representations and vice versa. The cyclic action of the real supergroup leads to a much more high-graded symmetry related with the modulo 8 periodicity of the real Clifford algebras. This symmetry acts on the system of real representations of $\spin_+(1,3)$.

CPT groups of higher spin fields

$CPT$ groups of higher spin fields are defined in the framework of automorphism groups of Clifford algebras associated with the complex representations of the proper orthochronous Lorentz group. Higher spin fields are understood as the fields on the Poincaré group which describe orientable (extended) objects. A general method for construction of $CPT$ groups of the fields of any spin is given. $CPT$ groups of the fields of spin-1/2, spin-1 and spin-3/2 are considered in detail. $CPT$ groups of the fields of tensor type are discussed. It is shown that tensor fields correspond to particles of the same spin with different masses.

Convergence of quantum electrodynamics on the Poincare group

Extended particles are considered in terms of the fields on the Poincaré group. Dirac like wave equations for extended particles of any spin are defined on the various homogeneous spaces of the Poincaré group. Free fields of the spin 1/2 and 1 (Dirac and Maxwell fields) are considered in detail on the eight-dimensional homogeneous space, which is equivalent to a direct product of Minkowski spacetime and two-dimensional complex sphere. It is shown that a massless spin-1 field, corresponding to a photon field, should be defined within principal series representations of the Lorentz group. Interaction between spin-1/2 and spin-1 fields is studied in terms of a trilinear form. An analogue of the Dyson formula for $S$-matrix is introduced on the eight-dimensional homogeneous space. It is shown that in this case elements of the $S$-matrix are defined by convergent integrals.

Group averaging for de Sitter free fields in terms of hyperspherical functions

We study the convergence of inner products of free fields over the homogeneous spaces of the de Sitter group and show that the convergence of inner products in the of $N$-particle states is defined by the asymptotic behavior of hypergeometric functions. We calculate the inner product for two-particle states on the four-dimensional hyperboloid in detail.
