Effective integration of the Nonlinear Vector Schrödinger Equation

A comprehensive algebro-geometric integration of the two component Nonlinear Vector Schrödinger equation (Manakov system) is developed. The allied spectral variety is a trigonal Riemann surface, which is described explicitly and the solutions of the equations are given in terms of theta-functions of the surface. The final formulae are effective in that sense that all entries like transcendental constants in exponentials, winding vectors etc. are expressed in terms of prime-form of the curve and well algorithmized operations on them. That made the result available for direct calculations in applied problems implementing the Manakov system. The simplest solutions in Jacobian theta-functions are given as particular case of general formulae and discussed in details.

Wannier functions for quasi-periodic finite-gap potentials

In this paper we consider Wannier functions of quasi-periodic g-gap ($g\geq 1$) potentials and investigate their main properties. In particular, we discuss the problem of averaging underlying the definition of Wannier functions for both periodic and quasi-periodic potentials and express Bloch functions and quasi-momenta in terms of hyperelliptic $σ$ functions. Using this approach we derive a power series expansion of the Wannier function for quasi-periodic potentials valid at $|x|\simeq 0$ and an asymptotic expansion valid at large distance. These functions are important for a number of applied problems.

The classical massive Thirring system revisited

We provide a complete treatment of algebro-geometric solutions of the classical massive Thirring system. In particular, we study Dubrovin-type equations for auxiliary divisors, consider the corresponding algebro-geometric initial value problem, and derive the theta function representations of algebro-geometric solutions of the Thirring system.

Quasi-Periodic and Periodic Solutions for Systems of Coupled Nonlinear SCHRÖdinger Equations

We consider travelling periodic and quasiperiodic wave solutions of a set of coupled nonlinear Schrödimger equations. In fibre optics these equations can be used to model single mode fibers with strong birefringence and two-mode optical fibres. Recently these equations appear as modes, which describe pulse-pulse interaction in wavelength-division-multiplexed channels of optical fiber transmission systems. Two phase quasi-periodic solutions for integrable Manakov system are given in tems of two-dimensional Kleinian functions. The reduction of quasi-periodic solutions to elliptic functions is dicussed. New solutions in terms of generalized Hermite polynomilas, which are associated with two-gap Treibich-Verdier potentials are found.

Integrable Quartic Potentials and Coupled KdV Equations

We show a surprising connection between known integrable Hamiltonian systems with quartic potential and the stationary flows of some coupled KdV systems related to fourth order Lax operators. In particular, we present a connection between the Hirota-Satsuma coupled KdV system and (a generalisation of) the $1:6:1$ integrable case quartic potential. A generalisation of the $1:6:8$ case is similarly related to a different (but gauge related) fourth order Lax operator. We exploit this connection to derive a Lax representation for each of these integrable systems. In this context a canonical transformation is derived through a gauge transformation.
