Stochastic forcing in hydrodynamic models with non-local interactions

The hydrodynamical model of the collective behavior of animals consists of the Euler equation with additional non-local forcing terms representing the repulsive and attractive forces among individuals. This paper deals with the system endowed with an additional white-noise forcing and an artificial viscous term. We provide a proof of the existence of a dissipative martingale solution -- a cornerstone for a subsequent analysis of the system with stochastic forcing.

Compressible fluid inside a linear oscillator

We use Feireisl-Lions theory to deduce the existence of weak solutions to a system describing the dynamics of a linear oscillator containing a Newtonian compressible fluid. The appropriate Navier-Stokes equation is considered on a domain whose movement has one degree of freedom. The equation is paired with the Newton law and we assume a no-slip boundary condition.

Non-uniqueness of admissible weak solution to the Riemann problem for the full Euler system in 2D

The question of well- and ill-posedness of entropy admissible solutions to the multi-dimensional systems of conservation laws has been studied recently in the case of isentropic Euler equations. In this context special initial data were considered, namely the 1D Riemann problem which is extended trivially to a second space dimension. It was shown that there exist infinitely many bounded entropy admissible weak solutions to such a 2D Riemann problem for isentropic Euler equations, if the initial data give rise to a 1D self-similar solution containing a shock. In this work we study such a 2D Riemann problem for the full Euler system in two space dimensions and prove the existence of infinitely many bounded entropy admissible weak solutions in the case that the Riemann initial data give rise to the 1D self-similar solution consisting of two shocks and possibly a contact discontinuity.

Flow of heat conducting fluid in a time dependent domain

We consider a flow of heat conducting fluid inside a moving domain whose shape in time is prescribed. The flow in this case is governed by the Navier-Stokes-Fourier system consisting of equation of continuity, momentum balance, entropy balance and energy equality. The velocity is supposed to fulfill the full-slip boundary condition and we assume that the fluid is thermally isolated. In the presented article we show the existence of a variational solution.

Weak solutions to the full Navier-Stokes-Fourier system with slip boundary conditions in time dependent domains

We consider the compressible Navier-Stokes-Fourier system on time-dependent domains with prescribed motion of the boundary, supplemented with slip boundary conditions for the velocity. Assuming that the pressure can be decomposed into an elastic part and a thermal part, we prove global-in-time existence of weak solutions. Our approach is based on the penalization of the boundary behavior, viscosity, and the pressure in the weak formulation. Moreover, the thermal energy equation is in the weak formulation replaced by the thermal energy inequality complemented with the global total energy inequality. In the approximation scheme the thermal energy inequality is consider to be satisfied in the renormalized sense.
