Thermal Quantum Correlations in Coupled Andreev Spin Qubits: Interplay of Superconducting Phase and Spin-Orbit Interaction

We investigate thermal quantum correlations in a system of two coupled superconducting spin qubits described by an effective Andreev spin-qubit Hamiltonian in the presence of spin-orbit interaction. Using Local Quantum Fisher Information (LQFI) and Local Quantum Uncertainty (LQU) as quantum-correlation quantifiers, we analyze the effects of the superconducting phase difference, tunneling amplitude, spin-orbit coupling, and temperature on the nonclassical properties of the system. Analytical expressions for the thermal density matrix are obtained and employed to evaluate both quantities. Our results show that quantum correlations decrease monotonically with increasing temperature, while stronger tunneling and spin-orbit interaction significantly enhance their robustness. Moreover, the superconducting phase introduces a pronounced periodic behavior through the modulation of the effective exchange couplings, leading to constructive and destructive interference regimes that strongly influence the correlations. By analyzing the energy spectrum of the effective Hamiltonian, we demonstrate that the enhancement of quantum correlations is closely associated with an increased energy gap between the ground and first excited states, which suppresses thermal excitations and stabilizes the correlated ground state. Furthermore, LQFI is consistently larger than LQU throughout the investigated parameter space, reflecting its higher sensitivity to quantum fluctuations and local parameter estimation. These findings reveal the microscopic mechanism governing thermal quantum correlations in Andreev spin qubits and highlight the important roles of phase engineering, spin-orbit interaction, and tunneling in protecting quantum resources in hybrid superconducting quantum devices.

Katsura-Nagaosa-Balatsky magnetoelectricity in molecular magnets: Bipartite entanglement transfer by means of rotating electric field

We investigate quantum entanglement in a spin-1/2 Heisenberg trimer with spin-induced electric polarization described by the Katsura-Nagaosa-Balatsky (KNB) mechanism in the presence of external magnetic and electric fields. The electric field is assumed to lie in the plane of the magnetic ions, allowing its strength and orientation to be tuned independently. We analyze both bipartite and tripartite entanglement and demonstrate that the spin-electric-field coupling provides an efficient mechanism for controlling quantum correlations within the molecular nanomagnet. Depending on the electric-field parameters, the bipartite entanglement can be significantly enhanced or suppressed, while the multipartite entanglement exhibits a rich dependence on the microscopic spin-electric coupling. Most notably, we demonstrate that a rotating in-plane electric field of constant magnitude induces a controllable transfer of bipartite entanglement between different spin pairs. In the symmetric case of homogeneous exchange interactions and uniform KNB coupling, this transfer is found to be nearly ideal, with the bipartite negativity approaching its theoretical maximum for one spin pair while simultaneously vanishing for the remaining pairs. We show that the efficiency of the transfer can be tailored through the exchange interactions, bond geometry, and nonuniform spin-electric coupling. These results establish molecular nanomagnets with KNB spin-electric coupling as a promising platform for the electrical manipulation, steering, and localization of quantum entanglement at the molecular scale.

On flat bands in the $J_1$-$J_2$-$J_3$ XXZ sawtooth chain

We consider a generalization of the XXZ model on the sawtooth spin chain with Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interactions in which all exchange constants (symmetric, antisymmetric, and axial anisotropy) are different for the three different bonds of each triangle. We derive and resolve algebraic constraints on the exchange constants ensuring the appearance of a flat band in the one-magnon spectrum. The properties of the corresponding flat magnon bands and localized magnon states are analyzed. We further construct the mapping of the flat-band conditions for the Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya constants onto the Katsura-Nagaosa-Balatsky parameters. Based on the mapping, the possibility of the electric-field-driven flat bands with the aid of the magnetoelectric coupling is examined.

Electric-field driven flat bands in the distorted sawtooth chain via the Katsura-Nagaosa-Balatsky mechanism

We investigate flat magnonic bands in a generalized sawtooth-chain model in which three sets of exchange parameters (symmetric Heisenberg exchange, axial Ising anisotropy, and antisymmetric Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya (DM) exchange) are assigned independently to each side of the triangular plaquette. If the effective Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya (DM) interaction parameters are generated via the Katsura-Nagaosa-Balatsky (KNB) mechanism of magnetoelectricity, they become explicit functions of the electric-field magnitude and direction, as well as of the lattice geometry, which in the present casen is characterized by two bond angles. We focus on the situation in which these two angles are unequal, corresponding to a distortion of the triangular plaquette. Several electric-field induced flat-band scenarios in the distorted sawtooth chain are analyzed, and expressions are derived for the electric-field strength required to drive the one-magnon excitations into a flat-band regime when the field is aligned along the lattice bonds. The saturation field and its dependence on the distortion angle are also examined. Finally, we establish a mapping between the flat-band solutions for a general DM interaction and its specific KNB-induced form. \\~ \emph{This article is dedicated to the memory of Johannes Richter.}

Molecular Nanomagnet $\text{Cu}^\text{II}\text{Ni}^\text{II}\text{Cu}^\text{II}$ as Resource for Bipartite and Tripartite Quantum Entanglement and Coherence

We investigate key quantum characteristics of the mixed spin-(1/2,1,1/2) Heisenberg trimer under the influence of an external magnetic field. Specifically, we analyze the distributions of bipartite and tripartite entanglement quantified through the respective negativities, and the $l_1$-norm of coherence with the help of rigorous analytical and numerical methods. Our findings suggest that the heterotrinuclear molecular nanomagnet $[\{\text{Cu}^\text{II}\text{L}\}_2\text{Ni}^\text{II}(\text{H}_2\text{O})_2](\text{ClO}_4)_{2} . 3\text{H}_2\text{O}$, which represents an experimental realization of the mixed spin-(1/2,1,1/2) Heisenberg trimer, exhibits a significant bipartite entanglement between $\text{Cu}^\text{II}$ and $\text{Ni}^\text{II}$ magnetic ions along with robust tripartite entanglement among all three constituent $\text{Cu}^\text{II}\text{Ni}^\text{II}\text{Cu}^\text{II}$ magnetic ions. The significant bipartite and tripartite entanglement persists even at relatively high temperatures up to $37\,\text{K}$ and magnetic fields up to $46\,\text{T}$, whereby the coherence is maintained even at elevated temperatures. {It is evidenced that the aforementioned molecular complex with the magnetic core $\text{Cu}^\text{II}\text{Ni}^\text{II}\text{Cu}^\text{II}$ provides an intriguing quantum resource, which exhibits a star-shaped state within the singlet eigenstate at low magnetic fields and W-like state within the triplet eigenstate at moderate magnetic fields.

Quantum entanglement in mixed-spin trimer: Effects of a magnetic field and heterogeneous g-factors

Mixed spin-(1/2,1/2,1) trimer with two different Landé g-factors and two different exchange couplings is considered. The main feature of the model is non-conserving magnetization. The Hamiltonian of the system is diagonalized analytically. We presented a detailed analysis of the ground state properties, revealing several possible ground state phase diagrams and magnetization profiles. The main focus is on how non-conserving magnetization affects quantum entanglement. We have found that non-conserving magnetization can bring to the continuous dependence of the entanglement quantifying parameter (negativity) on magnetic field within the same eigenstate, while for the case of uniform $g$-factors it is a constant. The main result is an essential enhancement of the entanglement in case of uniform couplings for one pair of spins caused by an arbitrary small difference in the values of $g$-factors. This enhancement is robust and brings to almost 7-fold increasing of the negativity. We have also found weakening of entanglement for other cases. Thus, non-conserving magnetization offers a broad opportunity to manipulate the entanglement by means of magnetic field.

Magnetization plateaus and enhanced magnetocaloric effect of a spin-1/2 Ising-Heisenberg and Heisenberg double sawtooth ladder with four-spin interaction

The ground state, the entropy and the magnetic Grüneisen parameter of the antiferromagnetic spin-1/2 Ising-Heisenberg model on a double sawtooth ladder are rigorously investigated using the classical transfer-matrix technique. The model includes the XXZ interaction between the interstitial Heisenberg dimers, the Ising coupling between nearest-neighbor spins of the legs and rungs, and additional cyclic four-spin Ising term in each square plaquette. For a particular value of the cyclic four-spin exchange we found in the ground-state phase diagram of the Ising Heisenberg ladder a quadruple point, at which four different ground states coexist together. During an adiabatic demagnetization process a fast cooling accompanied with an enhanced magnetocaloric effect can be detected nearby this quadruple point. The ground-state phase diagram of the Ising-Heisenberg ladder is confronted with the zero-temperature magnetization process of the purely quantum Heisenberg ladder, which is calculated by using exact diagonalization (ED) based on the Lanczos algorithm for a finite-size ladder of 24 spins and the density-matrix renormalization group (DMRG) simulations for a finite-size ladder with up to 96 spins. Some indications of existence of intermediate magnetization plateaus in the magnetization process of the full Heisenberg model for a small but non-zero four-spin Ising coupling were found. The DMRG results reveal that the quantum Heisenberg double sawtooth ladder exhibits a quantum Luttinger spin-liquid phase that is absent in the Ising-Heisenberg counterpart model. Except this difference the magnetic behavior of the full Heisenberg model is quite analogous to its simplified Ising-Heisenberg counterpart and hence, one may bring insight into the fully quantum Heisenberg model from rigorous results for the Ising-Heisenberg model.

Electric field driven flat bands: Enhanced magnetoelectric and electrocaloric effects in frustrated quantum magnets

The $J_1$-$J_2$ quantum spin sawtooth chain is a paradigmatic one-dimensional frustrated quantum spin system exhibiting unconventional ground-state and finite-temperature properties. In particular, it exhibits a flat energy band of one-magnon excitations accompanied by an enhanced magnetocaloric effect for two singular ratios of the basal interactions $J_1$ and the zigzag interactions $J_2$. In our paper, we demonstrate that one can drive the spin system into a flat-band scenario by applying an appropriate electric field, thus overcoming the restriction of fine-tuned exchange couplings $J_1$ and $J_2$ and allowing one to tune more materials towards flat-band physics, that is to show a macroscopic magnetization jump when crossing the magnetic saturation field, a residual entropy at zero temperature as well as an enhanced magnetocaloric effect. While the magnetic field acts on the spin system via the ordinary Zeeman term, the coupling of an applied electric field with the spins is given by the sophisticated Katsura-Nagaosa-Balatsky (KNB) mechanism, where the electric field effectively acts as a Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya spin-spin interaction. The resulting novel features are corresponding reciprocal effects: We find a magnetization jump driven by the electric field as well as a jump of the electric polarization driven by the magnetic field, i.e.\ the system exhibits an extraordinarily strong magnetoelectric effect. Moreover, in analogy to the enhanced magnetocaloric effect the system shows an enhanced electrocaloric effect.

Spin-1/2 $XX$ chain in a transverse field with regularly alternating $g$-factors: Static and dynamic properties

We consider the spin-1/2 isotropic $XY$ chain in an external magnetic field directed along $z$ axis with periodically varying $g$-factors. To reveal the effects of regularly alternating $g$-factors, we calculate various static and dynamic equilibrium quantities in the ground state and at finite temperatures. We demonstrate that because of the regularly alternating $g$-factors the saturation field may disappear and the field dependence of the susceptibility in the ground state has additional logarithmic singularity at zero field. Moreover, the zero-field susceptibility has a logarithmic singularity as $T\to 0$. Furthermore, the dynamic structure factors exhibit much more structure in the "wave vector -- frequency" plane that can be traced out to modifications of the two-fermion excitation continua which exclusively determine $S_{zz}(κ,ω)$ and dominate the properties of $S_{xx}(κ,ω)$. We discuss what changes can be observed in dynamic experiments on the corresponding substances.

Spin-1/2 XY chain magnetoelectric: effect of zigzag geometry

A spin-1/2 $XY$ chain model of magnetoelectric on a zigzag chain is considered rigorously. The magnetoelectric coupling is described within the Katsura-Nagaosa-Balatsky mechanism. In the zigzag geometry it leads to the staggered Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction. By non-uniform spin-rotations the model is reduced to a dimerized $XY$ chain and solved exactly using the Jordan-Wigner transformation. We analyze the ground-state phase diagram of the model, zero and finite temperature magnetoelectric effect, obtain the magnetization and polarization curves versus magnetic and electric fields, as well as the parameters of anisotropic dielectric and magnetoelectric response. It is also shown that the electric field may enhance the magnetocaloric effect in the model.

Magnetocaloric effect in the distorted Ising-Heisenberg double sawtooth spin ladders

The entropy and cooling rate of the both antiferromagnetic spin-1/2 double sawtooth IsingHeisenberg model and mixed-spin (1,1/2) double sawtooth Ising-Heisenberg model on the distorted ladders are rigorously investigated under an adiabatic demagnetization process using the quantum transfer-matrix technique. The models include the XXZ interaction between the interstitial Heisenberg dimers, the Ising coupling between nearest-neighbor spins of the legs and rungs, and additional cyclic four-spin exchange (ring exchange) in the square plaquette of each block. Close to field-induced quantum phase transitions, we compare both models together in the ability of cooling/heating near the quantum critical points. However, we observe a large magnetocaloric effect for both models, the mixed-spin double sawtooth ladder shows much more magneticaloric efficiency than the spin-1/2 double sawtooth ladder. During an adiabatic demagnetization process it can be seen a temperature dropping in the vicinity of the zero-temperature quantum phase transitions. Various fixed values of the Isotropic and anisotropic parameters explicitly alter the quality of the magnetocaloric effect. This properties suggest double sawtooth Ising-Heisenberg ladders as promising alternative refrigerant materials for low-temperature magnetic refrigeration.

Non-conserved magnetization operator and `fire-and-ice' ground states in the Ising-Heisenberg diamond chain

We consider the diamond chain with S=1/2 XYZ vertical dimers which interact with the intermediate sites via the interaction of the Ising type. We also suppose all four spins form the diamond-shaped plaquette to have different g-factors. The non-uniform g-factors within the quantum spin dimer as well as the XY-anisotropy of the exchange interaction lead to the non-conserving magnetization for the chain. We analyze the effects of non-conserving magnetization as well as the effects of the appearance of negative g-factors among the spins from the unit cell. A number of unusual frustrated states for ferromagnetic couplings and g-factors with non-uniform signs are found out. These frustrated states generalize the "half-fire-half-ice" state introduced in Ref. [8]. The corresponding zero-temperature ground state phase diagrams are presented.

On the absence of actual plateaus in zero-temperature magnetization curves of quantum spin clusters and chains

We examine the general features of the non-commutativity of the magnetization operator and Hamiltonian for the small quantum spin clusters. The source of this non-commutativity can be a difference in the Landé g-factors for different spins in the cluster, XY-anisotropy in the exchange interaction and the presence of the Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya term in the direction different for the direction of the magnetic field. As a result, a zero-temperature magnetization curve for the small spin clusters mimics that for the macroscopic systems with the band(s) of magnetic excitations, i.e. for the given eigenstate of the spin cluster the corresponding magnetic moment can be an explicit function of the external magnetic field yielding the non-constant (non-plateau) form of the magnetization curve within the given eigenstate. Also, the XY-anisotropy makes the saturated magnetization (the eigenstate when all spins in cluster are aligned along the magnetic field) inaccessible for finite magnetic field magnitude (asymptotical saturation). We demonstrate all these features on three examples: spin-1/2 dimer, mixed spin-(1/2,1) dimer, spin-1/2 ring trimer. We consider the simplest Ising-Heisenberg chain, the XYZ-Ising diamond chain with four different g-factors as well. In the chain model the magnetization curve has more complicated and non trivial structure with than that for clusters.

Magnetism-driven ferroelectricity in spin-1/2 $XY$ chains

We illustrate the magnetoelectric effect conditioned by the Katsura-Nagaosa-Balatsky (KNB) mechanism within the frames of exactly solvable spin-1/2 $XY$ chains. Due to three-spin interactions which are present in our consideration, the magnetization (polarization) is influenced by the electric (magnetic) field even in the absence of the magnetic (electric) field. We also discuss a magnetoelectrocaloric effect examining the entropy changes under the isothermal varying of the magnetic or/and electric field.

Landau problem on the ellipsoid, hyperboloid and paraboloid of revolution

We define the Landau problem on two-dimensional surfaces of revolution of the second order: ellipsoid, hyperboloid and paraboloid. We start form the two-center MICZ-Kepler system Hamiltonian and then making the reduction into the various two-dimensional surfaces listed above we obtain the Hamiltonians of the charged particle moving on the corresponding surface of revolution with the magnetic filed conserving the symmetry of the two-dimensional surface(Landau problem). For each case we figure out at which values of parameters the qualitative character of the moving coincides with that of a free particle moving on the save two-dimensional surface. For the case of finite trajectories (ellipsoid) we construct also the action-angle variables.

Magnetization non-rational quasi-plateau and spatially modulated spin order in the model of the single-chain magnet, [{(CuL)_2 Dy}{Mo(CN)_8}] 2CH_3CN H_2O

Using the exact solution in terms of the generalized classical transfer matrix method we presented a detailed analysis of the magnetic properties and ground state structure of the simplified model of the single-chain magnet, trimetallic coordination polymer compound, [{(CuL)_2 Dy}{Mo(CN)_8}] 2CH_3CN H_2O is N,N'-propylenebis(3-methoxysalicylideneiminato). Due to appearance of highly anisotropic Dy3+ ion this material is an unique example of the one-dimensional magnets with Ising and Heisenberg bonds, allowing exact statistical-mechanical treatment. We found two zero-temperature ground states corresponding to different part of the magnetization curve of the material. The zero-filed ground state is shown to be an antiferromagnetic configuration with spatial modulation of the local Dy3+(which is proven to posses well defined Ising like properties due two large anisotropy of g-factors) and composite S=1/2 spin of the quantum spin trimer Cu-Mo-Cu in the form "up"-"down"-"down"-"up". Another important feature of this compound is the appearance of the quasi-plateau at non rational value of magnetization due to difference of the g-factors of the Cu- and Mo-ion in quantum spin trimers. The quasi-plateau is an almost horizontal part of the magnetization curve where the corresponding zero-temperature ground state of the chain demonstrate slow but monotonous dependence of the magnetization on the external magnetic field, while the $z$-projection of the total spin is constant.

Correlation functions in one-dimensional spin lattices with Ising and Heisenberg bonds

A general technique of exact calculation of any correlation functions for the special class of one-dimensional spin models containing small clusters of quantum spins assembled to a chain by alternating with the single Ising spins is proposed. The technique is a natural generalization of that in the models solved by a classical transfer matrix. The general expressions for corresponding matrix operators which are the key components of the technique are obtained. As it is clear from the general principles, the decay of the correlation functions of various types is explicitly shown to be governed by a single correlation length. The technique is illustrated by two examples: symmetric diamond chain and asymmetric sawtooth chain.

Exact description of the magnetoelectric effect in the spin-1/2 XXZ-chain with Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction

We consider a simple integrable model of a spin chain exhibiting the Magnetoelectric Effect (MEE). Starting from the periodic S=1/2 XXZ-chain with Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya terms, which we consider as a local electric polarization in the spirit of the Katsura-Nagaosa-Baladsky (KNB) mechanism, we perform the mapping onto the conventional XXZ-chain with twisted boundary conditions. Using the techniques of Quantum Transfer Matrix (QTM) and Non-Linear Integral Equations (NLIE) we obtain the magnetization, electric polarization and magnetoelectric tensor as functions of magnetic and electric field for arbitrary temperatures. We investigate these dependencies as well as the thermal behavior of the above mentioned physical quantities, especially in the low-temperature regime. We found several regimes of polarization. Adjusting the magnetic field one can switch the system from one regime to another. The features of the critical properties connected with the MEE are also illustrated.
