Construction and stability of blowup solutions for a non-variational semilinear parabolic system

We consider the following parabolic system whose nonlinearity has no gradient structure: $$\left\{\begin{array}{ll} \partial_t u = Δu + |v|^{p-1}v, \quad & \partial_t v = μΔv + |u|^{q - 1}u,\\ u(\cdot, 0) = u_0, \quad & v(\cdot, 0) = v_0, \end{array}\right. $$ in the whole space $\mathbb{R}^N$, where $p, q > 1$ and $μ> 0$. We show the existence of initial data such that the corresponding solution to this system blows up in finite time $T(u_0, v_0)$ simultaneously in $u$ and $v$ only at one blowup point $a$, according to the following asymptotic dynamics: $$\left\{\begin{array}{c} u(x,t)\sim Γ\left[(T-t) \left(1 + \dfrac{b|x-a|^2}{(T-t)|\log (T-t)|}\right)\right]^{-\frac{(p + 1)}{pq - 1}},\\ v(x,t)\sim γ\left[(T-t) \left(1 + \dfrac{b|x-a|^2}{(T-t)|\log (T-t)|}\right)\right]^{-\frac{(q + 1)}{pq - 1}}, \end{array}\right.$$ with $b = b(p,q,μ) > 0$ and $(Γ, γ) = (Γ(p,q), γ(p,q))$. The construction relies on the reduction of the problem to a finite dimensional one and a topological argument based on the index theory to conclude. Two major difficulties arise in the proof: the linearized operator around the profile is not self-adjoint even in the case $μ= 1$; and the fact that the case $μ\ne 1$ breaks any symmetry in the problem. In the last section, through a geometrical interpretation of quantities of blowup parameters whose dimension is equal to the dimension of the finite dimensional problem, we are able to show the stability of these blowup behaviors with respect to perturbations in initial data.

Finite degrees of freedom for the refined blow-up profile of the semilinear heat equation

We refine the asymptotic behavior of solutions to the semilinear heat equation with Sobolev subcritical power nonlinearity which blow up in some finite time at a blow-up point where the (supposed to be generic) profile holds. In order to obtain this refinement, we have to abandon the explicit profile function as a first order approximation, and take a non explicit function as a first order description of the singular behavior. This non explicit function is in fact a special solution which we construct, obeying some refined prescribed behavior. The construction relies on the reduction of the problem to a finite dimensional one and the use of a topological argument based on index theory to conclude. Surprisingly, the new non explicit profiles which we construct make a family with finite degrees of freedom, namely $\frac{(N+1)N}{2}$ if $N$ is the dimension of the space.

Blow-up results for a strongly perturbed semilinear heat equation: Theoretical analysis and numerical method

We consider a blow-up solution for a strongly perturbed semilinear heat equation with Sobolev subcritical power nonlinearity. Working in the framework of similarity variables, we find a Lyapunov functional for the problem. Using this Lyapunov functional, we derive the blow-up rate and the blow-up limit of the solution. We also classify all asymptotic behaviors of the solution at the singularity and give precisely blow-up profiles corresponding to these behaviors. Finally, we attain the blow-up profile numerically, thanks to a new mesh-refinement algorithm inspired by the rescaling method of Berger and Kohn in 1988. Note that our method is applicable to more general equations, in particular those with no scaling invariance.

Numerical analysis of the rescaling method for parabolic problems with blow-up in finite time

In this work, we study the numerical solution for parabolic equations whose solutions have a common property of blowing up in finite time and the equations are invariant under the following scaling transformation $$u \mapsto u_λ(x,t):= λ^{\frac{2}{p-1}}u(λx, λ^2 t).$$ For that purpose, we apply the rescaling method proposed by Berger and Kohn in 1988 to such problems. The convergence of the method is proved under some regularity assumption. Some numerical experiments are given to derive the blow-up profile verifying henceforth the theoretical results.

On the blow-up results for a class of strongly perturbed semilinear heat equations

We consider in this work some class of strongly perturbed for the semilinear heat equation with Sobolev sub-critical power nonlinearity. We first derive a Lyapunov functional in similarity variables and then use it to derive the blow-up rate. We also classify all possible asymptotic behaviors of the solution when it approaches to singularity. Finally, we describe precisely the blow-up profiles corresponding to these behaviors.

Mesure de la similarité entre termes et labels de concepts ontologiques

We propose in this paper a method for measuring the similarity between ontological concepts and terms. Our metric can take into account not only the common words of two strings to compare but also other features such as the position of the words in these strings, or the number of deletion, insertion or replacement of words required for the construction of one of the two strings from each other. The proposed method was then used to determine the ontological concepts which are equivalent to the terms that qualify toponymes. It aims to find the topographical type of the toponyme.
