Stability of Adiabatic States in a Dissipative Three-Level System

The necessary and sufficient conditions for the stability of adiabatic states in three-level quantum systems are investigated analytically and numerically. Various possible configurations of three-level systems under exact two-photon resonance are considered. It is shown that in all these schemes, the lifetime of the studied states is determined by the dephasing time between levels that are not connected by a dipole transition. An efficient population transfer through the b-state at room temperature is demonstrated despite relatively long relaxation times. It is also demonstrated that, in case of large one-photon detuning, the so-called b-state has the same lifetime as that of the dark state. The evolution of adiabatic states for arbitrary values of single-photon detunings has been studied numerically.

Reissner-Nordström black holes with non-Abelian hair

We consider $d\geqslant 4$ Einstein--(extended-)Yang-Mills theory, where the gauge sector is augmented by higher order terms. Linearizing the (extended) Yang-Mills equations on the background of the electric Reissner-Nordström (RN) black hole, we show the existence of normalizable zero modes, dubbed non-Abelian magnetic stationary clouds. The non-linear realization of these clouds bifurcates the RN family into a branch of static, spherically symmetric, electrically charged and asymptotically flat black holes with non-Abelian hair. Generically, the hairy black holes are thermodynamically preferred over the RN solution, which, in this model, becomes unstable against the formation of non-Abelian hair, for sufficiently large values of the electric charge.

Solitons and soliton-antisoliton pairs of a Goldstone model in 3+1 dimensions

We study finite energy static solutions to a global symmetry breaking model in 3+1 dimensions described by an isovector scalar field. The basic features of two different types of configurations are discussed, one of them corresponding to axially symmetric multisolitons with topological charge $n$, and the other one to unstable soliton-antisoliton pairs with zero topological charge.

Rotating regular solutions in Einstein-Yang-Mills-Higgs theory

We construct new axially symmetric rotating solutions of Einstein-Yang-Mills-Higgs theory. These globally regular configurations possess a nonvanishing electric charge which equals the total angular momentum, and zero topological charge, representing a monopole-antimonopole system rotating around the symmetry axis through their common center of mass.
