An integral formula for multiple summing norms of operators

We prove that the multiple summing norm of multilinear operators defined on some $n$-dimensional real or complex vector spaces with the $p$-norm may be written as an integral with respect to stables measures. As an application we show inclusion and coincidence results for multiple summing mappings. We also present some contraction properties and compute or estimate the limit orders of this class of operators.

Diagonal extendible multilinear operators between $\ell_p$-spaces

We study extendibility of diagonal multilinear operators from $\ell_p$ to $\ell_q$ spaces. We determine the values of $p$ and $q$ for which every diagonal $n$-linear operator is extendible, and those for which the only extendible ones are integral. We address the same question for multilinear forms on $\ell_p$.

Summation of coefficients of polynomials on $\ell_{p}$ spaces

We investigate the summability of the coefficients of $m$-homogeneous polynomials and $m$-linear mappings defined on $\ell_{p}$-spaces. In our research we obtain results on the summability of the coefficients of $m$-linear mappings defined on $\ell_{p_{1}} \times \cdots \times \ell_{p_{m}}$. The first results in this respect go back to Littlewood and Bohnenblust and Hille (for bilinear and $m$-linear forms on $c_{0}$) and Hardy and Littlewood and Praciano-Pereira (for bilinear and $m$-linear forms on arbitrary $\ell_{p}$-spaces). Our results recover and in some case complete these old results through a general approach on vector valued $m$-linear mappings.

Geometry of integral polynomials, $M$-ideals and unique norm preserving extensions

We use the Aron-Berner extension to prove that the set of extreme points of the unit ball of the space of integral polynomials over a real Banach space $X$ is $\{\pm ϕ^k: ϕ\in X^*, \| ϕ\|=1\}$. With this description we show that, for real Banach spaces $X$ and $Y$, if $X$ is a non trivial $M$-ideal in $Y$, then $\hat\bigotimes^{k,s}_{ε_{k,s}} X$ (the $k$-th symmetric tensor product of $X$ endowed with the injective symmetric tensor norm) is \emph{never} an $M$-ideal in $\hat\bigotimes^{k,s}_{ε_{k,s}} Y$. This result marks up a difference with the behavior of non-symmetric tensors since, when $X$ is an $M$-ideal in $Y$, it is known that $\hat\bigotimes^k_{ε_k} X$ (the $k$-th tensor product of $X$ endowed with the injective tensor norm) is an $M$-ideal in $\hat\bigotimes^k_{ε_k} Y$. Nevertheless, if $X$ is Asplund, we prove that every integral $k$-homogeneous polynomial in $X$ has a unique extension to $Y$ that preserves the integral norm. We explicitly describe this extension. We also give necessary and sufficient conditions (related with the continuity of the Aron-Berner extension morphism) for a fixed $k$-homogeneous polynomial $P$ belonging to a maximal polynomial ideal $\Q(^kX)$ to have a unique norm preserving extension to $\Q(^kX^{**})$. To this end, we study the relationship between the bidual of the symmetric tensor product of a Banach space and the symmetric tensor product of its bidual and show (in the presence of the BAP) that both spaces have `the same local structure'. Other applications to the metric and isomorphic theory of symmetric tensor products and polynomial ideals are also given.

$M$-structures in vector-valued polynomial spaces

This paper is concerned with the study of $M$-structures in spaces of polynomials. More precisely, we discuss for $E$ and $F$ Banach spaces, whether the class of weakly continuous on bounded sets $n$-homogeneous polynomials, $\mathcal P_w(^n E, F)$, is an $M$-ideal in the space of continuous $n$-homogeneous polynomials $\mathcal P(^n E, F)$. We show that there is some hope for this to happen only for a finite range of values of $n$. We establish sufficient conditions under which the problem has positive and negative answers and use the obtained results to study the particular cases when $E=\ell_p$ and $F=\ell_q$ or $F$ is a Lorentz sequence space $d(w,q)$. We extend to our setting the notion of property $(M)$ introduced by Kalton which allows us to lift $M$-structures from the linear to the vector-valued polynomial context. Also, when $\mathcal P_w(^n E, F)$ is an $M$-ideal in $\mathcal P(^n E, F)$ we prove a Bishop-Phelps type result for vector-valued polynomials and relate norm-attaining polynomials with farthest points and remotal sets.

Every Banach ideal of polynomials is compatible with an operator ideal

We show that for each Banach ideal of homogeneous polynomials, there exists a (necessarily unique) Banach operator ideal compatible with it. Analogously, we prove that any ideal of $n$-homogeneous polynomials belongs to a coherent sequence of ideals of $k$-homogeneous polynomials.

Holomorphic Functions and polynomial ideals on Banach spaces

Given $\u$ a multiplicative sequence of polynomial ideals, we consider the associated algebra of holomorphic functions of bounded type, $H_{b\u}(E)$. We prove that, under very natural conditions verified by many usual classes of polynomials, the spectrum $M_{b\u}(E)$ of this algebra "behaves" like the classical case of $M_{b}(E)$ (the spectrum of $H_b(E)$, the algebra of bounded type holomorphic functions). More precisely, we prove that $M_{b\u}(E)$ can be endowed with a structure of Riemann domain over $E"$ and that the extension of each $f\in H_{b\u}(E)$ to the spectrum is an $\u$-holomorphic function of bounded type in each connected component. We also prove a Banach-Stone type theorem for these algebras.

Multilinear Hölder-type inequalities on Lorentz sequence spaces

We establish Hölder type inequalities for Lorentz sequence spaces and their duals. In order to achieve these and some related inequalities, we study diagonal multilinear forms in general sequence spaces, and obtain estimates for their norms. We also consider norms of multilinear forms in different Banach multilinear ideals.
