Quantum reduction in the twisted case

We study the quantum Hamiltonian reduction for affine superalgebras in the twisted case. This leads to a general representation theory of all superconformal algebras, including the twisted ones (like the Ramond algebra). In particular, we find general free field realizations and determinant formulae.

Twisted Modules over Lattice Vertex Algebras

For any integral lattice $Q$, one can construct a vertex algebra $V_Q$ called a lattice vertex algebra. If $σ$ is an automorphism of $Q$ of finite order, it can be lifted to an automorphism of $V_Q$. In this paper we classify the irreducible $σ$-twisted $V_Q$-modules. We show that the category of $σ$-twisted $V_Q$-modules is a semisimple abelian category with finitely many isomorphism classes of simple objects.

Solitons in Affine and Permutation Orbifolds

We consider properties of solitons in general orbifolds in the algebraic quantum field theory framework and constructions of solitons in affine and permutation orbifolds. Under general conditions we show that our construction gives all the twisted representations of the fixed point subnet. This allows us to prove a number of conjectures: in the affine orbifold case we clarify the issue of ``fixed point resolutions''; in the permutation orbifold case we determine all irreducible representations of the orbifold, and we also determine the fusion rules in a nontrivial case, which imply an integral property of chiral data for any completely rational conformal net.

Representations of the exceptional Lie superalgebra E(3,6) III: Classification of singular vectors

We continue the study of irreducible representations of the exceptional Lie superalgebra E(3,6). This is one of the two simple infinite-dimensional Lie superalgebras of vector fields which have a Lie algebra sl(3)\times sl(2)\times gl(1) as the zero degree component of its consistent ZZ-grading. We provide the classification of the singular vectors in the degenerate Verma modules over E(3,6), completing thereby the classification and construction of all irreducible E(3,6)- modules that are L_0-locally finite.

Quantum Reduction for Affine Superalgebras

We extend the homological method of quantization of generalized Drinfeld--Sokolov reductions to affine superalgebras. This leads, in particular, to a unified representation theory of superconformal algebras.

Classification of supersymmetries

In the first part of my talk I will explain a solution to the extension of Lie's problem on classification of "local continuous transformation groups of a finite-dimensional manifold" to the case of supermanifolds. (More precisely, the problem is to classify simple linearly compact Lie superalgebras, i.e. toplogical Lie superalgebras whose underlying space is a topological product of finite-dimensional vector spaces). In the second part I will explain how this result is used in a classification of superconformal algebras. The list consists of affine superalgebras and certain super extensions of the Virasoro algebra. In the third part I will discuss representation theory of affine superalgebras and its relation to "almost" modular forms. Furthermore, I will explain how the quantum reduction of these representations leads to a unified representation theory of super extensions of the Virasoro algebra. In the forth part I will discuss representation theory of exceptional simple infinite-dimensional linearly compact Lie superalgebras and will speculate on its relation to the Standard Model.

Field Algebras

A field algebra is a ``non-commutative'' generalization of a vertex algebra. In this paper we develop foundations of the theory of field algebras.

Subalgebras of $\gc_N$ and Jacobi polynomials

We classify the subalgebras of the general Lie conformal algebra $\gc_N$ that act irreducibly on $\C[\partial]^N$ and that are normalized by the $\operatorname{sl}_2$--part of a Virasoro element. The problem turns out to be closely related to classical Jacobi polynomials $P_n^{(-σ,σ)}$, $σ\in\C$. The connection goes both ways -- we use in our classification some classical properties of Jacobi polynomials, and we derive from the theory of conformal algebras some apparently new properties of Jacobi polynomials.

Classification of finite simple Lie conformal superalgebras

The notion of a Lie conformal superalgebra encodes an axiomatic descrption of singular parts of the operator product expansions of chiral fields in conformal field theory. In the paper we give a detailed proof of the classification of all finite simple Lie conformal superalgebras. We also classify all their central extensions.

Theory of Finite Pseudoalgebras

Conformal algebras, recently introduced by Kac, encode an axiomatic description of the singular part of the operator product expansion in conformal field theory. The objective of this paper is to develop the theory of ``multi-dimensional'' analogues of conformal algebras. They are defined as Lie algebras in a certain ``pseudotensor'' category instead of the category of vector spaces. A pseudotensor category (as introduced by Lambek, and by Beilinson and Drinfeld) is a category equipped with ``polylinear maps'' and a way to compose them. This allows for the definition of Lie algebras, representations, cohomology, etc. An instance of such a category can be constructed starting from any cocommutative (or more generally, quasitriangular) Hopf algebra $H$. The Lie algebras in this category are called Lie $H$-pseudoalgebras. The main result of this paper is the classification of all simple and all semisimple Lie $H$-pseudoalgebras which are finitely generated as $H$-modules. We also start developing the representation theory of Lie pseudoalgebras; in particular, we prove analogues of the Lie, Engel, and Cartan-Jacobson Theorems. We show that the cohomology theory of Lie pseudoalgebras describes extensions and deformations and is closely related to Gelfand-Fuchs cohomology. Lie pseudoalgebras are closely related to solutions of the classical Yang-Baxter equation, to differential Lie algebras (introduced by Ritt), and to Hamiltonian formalism in the theory of nonlinear evolution equations. As an application of our results, we derive a classification of simple and semisimple linear Poisson brackets in any finite number of indeterminates.

A differential analog of a theorem of Chevalley

In this note a proof of a differential analog of Chevalley's theorem \cite{C} on homomorphism extensions is given. An immediate corollary is a condition of finitenes of extensions of differential algebras and several equivalent definitions of a differentially closed field, including Kolchin's Nullstellensatz.

Representations of the Exceptional Lie superalgebra E(3,6): I. Degeneracy conditions

Recently one of the authors obtained a classification of simple infinite-dimensional Lie superalgebras of vector fields which extends the well-known classification of E. Cartan in the Lie algebra case. The list consists of many series defined by simple equations, and of several exceptional superalgebras, among them E(3,6). In the article we study irreducible representations of the exceptional Lie superalgebra E(3,6). This superalgebra has s\ell(3)\times s\ell(2)\times g\ell(1) as the zero degree component of its consistent \ZZ-grading which leads us to believe that its representation theory has potential for physical applications.

Representations of the Exceptional Lie superalgebra $E(3,6): II. Four series of degenerate modules

Four $\ZZ_+$-bigraded complexes with the action of the exceptional infinite-dimensional Lie superalgebra E(3,6) are constructed. We show that all the images and cokernels and all but three kernels of the differentials are irreducible E(3,6)-modules. This is based on the list of singular vectors and the calculation of homology of these complexes. As a result, we obtain an explicit construction of all degenerate irreducible E(3,6)-modules and compute their characters and sizes. Since the group of symmetries of the Standard Model $SU(3) \times SU(2) \times U(1)$ (divided by a central subgroup of order six) is a maximal compact subgroup of the group of automorphisms of E(3,6), our results may have applications to particle physics.

Integrable highest weight modules over affine superalgebras and Appell's function

We classify integrable irreducible highest weight representations of non-twisted affine Lie superalgebras. We give a free field construction in the level~1 case. The analysis of this construction shows, in particular, that in the simplest case of the $s\ell (2|1)$ level~1 affine superalgebra the characters are expressed in terms of the Appell elliptic function. Our results demonstrate that the representation theory of affine Lie superalgebras is quite different from that of affine Lie algebras.
