Superconducting Electronic Device Response Linearity Calculation Method Using Discrete Fourier Analysis

A highly effective method of the device linearity calculation on the stage of the device development is worked out and reported. The method allows expressing the linearity in terms of the achievable spurious-free dynamic range (SFDR) of the created devices, in particular superconductive electronic devices, and therefore can be easy correlated with the obtained experimental data. The algorithm scheme and the method accuracy are considered and discussed in detail.

Obstacles to two-line Josephson traveling wave parametric amplifier

Obstacles to the two-line Josephson traveling wave parametric amplifier (JTWPA) designs, aimed at increasing the allowed pump wave energy and, hence, the gain growth through the combination of linear and nonlinear lines as pump and signal lines is discussed. This analysis takes into account both the mutual coupling and the discreteness of the artificial waveguide lines. Significant restrictions arise from the cyclical transfer of the traveling wave's energy from one line to the other one with phase step by $π$ every beat cycle. Moreover, the other restrictions result from the phase mismatch between the pump, signal and idler waves due to both the coupling and the discreteness of the artificial lines.

Active Electrically Small Antenna Based on Superconducting Quantum Array

We introduce Superconductive Quantum Arrays (SQAs) and propose to use these structures as active Electrically Small Antennas (ESA). Several prototypes of the active ESA were fabricated using Nb process with critical current density 4.5 kA/cm2 and experimentally evaluated. The magnetic field to voltage transfer function linearity up to 70 dB was measured, and transfer factor dV/dB up to 6.5 mV/μT was observed for the ESA prototype containing 560 cells.
