Free energy of multicomponent embryo formation

An expression for the free energy of embryo formation is constructed and analyzed. The Gibbs dividing surfaces method is used to attain a coincidence between Laplace formula for critical embryo and integral definitions of concenterations inside the embryo. A global structure of free energy is analyzed and some useful properties are extracted.

A simple method to determine parameters of embryos distribution in homogeneous nucleation under dynamic conditions

A simple method to get all main characteristics of nucleation process is proposed. The advantage of this method is an applicability to situations with non-linear behavior in time of effective external source of vapor. It is important because already existed objects of a new phase comsume vapor in non-linear manner and form an effective non-linear behavior of external conditions. To describe kinetics in this situatrion one can use a method proposed here. As the result some exact expressions for all main characteristics of nucleation kinetics are obtained.

Effects of stochastic nucleation in the first order phase transition

The effects of stochastic apppearence of embryos of a new phase are analyzed analytically. A new approach by the similarity of nucleation conditions is proposed. Corrections for a number of droplets are estimated. A comparison with numerical simulation is given. A good coincidence between theoretical and numerical results can be seen.

Heterogeneous condensation in dense media

The theoretical description of the heterogeneous nucleation kinetics is presented. This description takes into account the perturbation of the vapor phase initiated by the growing droplets. The form of the density profile around the growing droplet is analyzed which leads to some special approximations. Then the process of nucleation in the whole system is described. As the result all main characteristics of the process are determined analytically.

Multicomponent nonisothermal nucleation. 1. Kinetic equation

The first part of the theory for the multicomponent nonisothermal nucleation is presented. On the base of analysis of the elementary acts of interation between an embryo and environment the kinetic equation is derived. This equation will be solved later and gives the nucleation rate for nonisothermal nucleation in the system with many condensating components. The orders of operators in this equation are estimated.

Multicomponent nonisothermal nucleation. 2. Chapman-Enskog procedure

The second part of the theory for the multicomponent nonisothermal nucleation is presented. The solution of the kinetic equation already derived in the first part is given with the help of the Chapman-Enskog procedure. At first the relaxation stage is considered. The special choice of the relaxation operator allows to refuse from the special small parameter usually required in the nucleation problems. The special procedure allows to estimate the tails of the approximations appeared in the reccurent procedures. The final formulas for corrections allows to reduce the problem to the ordinary Fokker-Planck equation in the nulticomponent case.

Multicomponent nonisothermal nucleation. 3. Numerical results

The final (third) part of the theory gives the results of numerical calculations according to the formulas derived in the previous two parts. Also the comparison with the already published theories is given. Some conclusions connected with the qualitative picture of the nucleation process are presented.
