Associative ternary algebras and ternary Lie algebras at cube roots of unity

We propose an approach to extending the concept of a Lie algebra to ternary structures based on $ω$-symmetry, where $ω$ is a primitive cube root of unity. We give a definition of a corresponding structure, called a ternary Lie algebra at cube roots of unity, or a ternary $ω$-Lie algebra. A method for constructing ternary associative algebras has been developed. For ternary algebras, the notions of the ternary $ω$-associator and the ternary $ω$-commutator are introduced. It is shown that if a ternary algebra possesses the property of associativity of the first or second kind, then the ternary $ω$-commutator on this algebra determines the structure of a ternary $ω$-Lie algebra. Ternary algebras of cubic matrices with associative ternary multiplication of the second kind are considered. The structure of the 8-dimensional ternary $ω$-Lie algebra of cubic matrices of the second order is studied, and all its subalgebras of dimensions 2 and 3 are determined.

Odd and even derivations, transposed Poisson superalgebra and 3-Lie superalgebra

One important example of a transposed Poisson algebra can be constructed by means of a commutative algebra and its derivation. This approach can be extended to superalgebras, that is, one can construct a transposed Poisson superalgebra given a commutative superalgebra and its even derivation. In this paper we show that including odd derivations in the framework of this approach requires introducing a new notion. It is a super vector space with two operations that satisfy the compatibility condition of transposed Poisson superalgebra. The first operation is determined by a left supermodule over commutative superalgebra and the second is a Jordan bracket. Then it is proved that the super vector space generated by an odd derivation of a commutative superalgebra satisfies all the requirements of introduced notion. We also show how to construct a 3-Lie superalgebra if we are given a transposed Poisson superalgebra and its even derivation.

Ternary associator, ternary commutator and ternary Lie algebra at cube roots of unity

We extend the concepts of the associator and commutator from algebras with a binary multiplication law to algebras with a ternary multiplication law using cube roots of unity. By analogy with the Jacobi identity for the binary commutator, we derive an identity for the proposed ternary commutator. While the Jacobi identity is based on the cyclic permutation group of three elements $\mathbb Z_3$, the identity we establish for the ternary commutator is based on the general affine group $GA(1,5)$. We introduce the notion of a ternary Lie algebra at cube roots of unity. A broad class of such algebras is constructed using associative ternary multiplications of rectangular and cubic matrices. Furthermore, a complete classification of non-isomorphic two-dimensional ternary Lie algebras at cube roots of unity is obtained.

Ternary Associativity and Ternary Lie Algebra at Cube Root of Unity

We propose a new approach to extending the notion of commutator and Lie algebra to algebras with ternary multiplication laws. Our approach is based on ternary associativity of the first and second kind. We propose a ternary commutator, which is a linear combination of six (all permutations of three elements) triple products. The coefficients of this linear combination are the cube roots of unity. We find an identity for the ternary commutator that holds due to ternary associativity of the first or second kind. The form of the found identity is determined by the permutations of the general affine group GA(1,5). We consider the found identity as an analogue of the Jacobi identity in the ternary case. We introduce the concept of a ternary Lie algebra at the cubic root of unity and give examples of such an algebra constructed using ternary multiplications of rectangular and three-dimensional matrices. We point out the connection between the structure constants of a ternary Lie algebra with three generators and an irreducible representation of the rotation group.

Biunits of ternary algebra of hypermatrices

In this paper we study ternary algebras of third-order hypermatrices. By hypermatrix we mean a complex-valued variable with three indices, which is also called a three-dimensional matrix or spatial matrix. We assume that a hypermatrix is defined in three-dimensional Euclidean space and when this space is rotated, it transforms as a SO(3)-tensor. We consider two ternary multiplications of hypermatrices, which have the property of generalized associativity. We explore the geometric meaning of two independent SO(3)-invariants of hypermatrices and show that one of them defines a Hermitian metric. We study the 10-dimensional subspace of hypermatrices, known in the theory of representations of the rotation group, as the space of the weight 2 tensor representation of the rotation group. It is proved that the elements of this subspace that satisfy the regularity condition are right biunits of the ternary algebra of hypermatrices. The motivation for studying biunits of ternary algebra of hypermatrices was a ternary generalization of the Pauli exclusion principle.

Transposed Poisson superalgebra

In this paper we propose the notion of a transposed Poisson superalgebra. We prove that a transposed Poisson superalgebra can be constructed by means of a commutative associative superalgebra and an even degree derivation of this algebra. Making use of this we construct two examples of transposed Poisson superalgebra. One of them is the graded differential algebra of differential forms on a smooth finite dimensional manifold, where we use the Lie derivative as an even degree derivation. The second example is the commutative superalgebra of basic fields of the quantum Yang-Mills theory, where we use the BRST-supersymmetry as an even degree derivation to define a graded Lie bracket. We show that a transposed Poisson superalgebra has six identities that play an important role in the study of the structure of this algebra.

SO(3)-Irreducible Geometry in Complex Dimension Five and Ternary Generalization of Pauli Exclusion Principle

We propose a notion of a ternary skew-symmetric covariant tensor of 3rd order, consider it as a 3-dimensional matrix and study a ten-dimensional complex space of these tensors. We split this space into a direct sum of two five-dimensional subspaces and in each subspace there is an irreducible representation of the rotation group SO(3) -> SO(5). We find two independent SO(3)-invariants of ternary skew-symmetric tensors, where one of them is the Hermitian metric and the other is the quadratic form. We find the stabilizer of this quadratic form and its invariant properties. Making use of these invariant properties we define a SO(3)-irreducible geometric structure on a five-dimensional complex Hermitian manifold. We study a connection on a five-dimensional complex Hermitian manifold with a SO(3)-irreducible geometric structure, find its curvature and torsion. The structures proposed in this paper and their study are motivated by a ternary generalization of the Pauli's principle proposed by R. Kerner.

3-Lie Algebras, Ternary Nambu-Lie algebras and the Yang-Baxter equation

We construct ternary self-distributive (TSD) objects from compositions of binary Lie algebras, $3$-Lie algebras and, in particular, ternary Nambu-Lie algebras. We show that the structures obtained satisfy an invertibility property resembling that of racks. We prove that these structures give rise to Yang-Baxter operators in the tensor product of the base vector space and, upon defining suitable twisting isomorphisms, we obtain representations of the infinite (framed) braid group. We consider examples for low-dimensional Lie algebras, where the ternary bracket is defined by composition of the binary ones, along with simple $3$-Lie algebras. We show that the Yang-Baxter operators obtained are not gauge equivalent to the transposition operator, and we consider the problem of deforming the operators to obtain new solutions to the Yang-Baxter equation. We discuss the applications of this deformation procedure to the construction of (framed) link invariants.

Ternary algebras associated with irreducible tensor representations of SO(3) and quark model

We show that each irreducible tensor representation of weight 2 of the rotation group of three-dimensional space in the space of rank 3 covariant tensors gives rise to an associative algebra with unity. We find the algebraic relations that the generators of these algebras must satisfy. Part of these relations has a form of binary relations and another part has a form of ternary relations. The structure of ternary relations is based on the cyclic group Z_3 and the primitive cubic root of unity q=\exp(2πi/3). The subspace of each algebra spanned by the triple products of generators is 5-dimensional and it is the space of an irreducible tensor representation of weight 2 of the rotation group SO(3). We define a Hermitian scalar product in this 5-dimensional subspace and construct an orthonormal basis for it. Then we find the representation matrix of an infinitesimal rotation. We show that constructed algebras with binary and ternary relations can have applications in the quark model and Grand Unification Theories.

Nambu-Poisson Bracket on Superspace

We propose an extension of n-ary Nambu-Poisson bracket to superspace R^{n|m} and construct by means of superdeterminant a family of Nambu-Poisson algebras of even degree functions, where the parameter of this family is an invertible transformation of Grassmann coordinates in superspace R^{n|m}. We prove in the case of the superspaces R^{n|1} and R^{n|2} that our n-ary bracket, defined with the help of superdeterminant, satisfies the conditions for n-ary Nambu-Poisson bracket, i.e. it is totally skew-symmetric and it satisfies the Leibniz rule and the Filippov-Jacobi identity (fundamental identity). We study the structure of n-ary bracket defined with the help of superdeterminant in the case of superspace R^{n|2} and show that it is the sum of usual n-ary Nambu-Poisson bracket and a new n-ary bracket, which we call χ-bracket, where χis the product of two odd degree smooth functions.

Quantum super Nambu bracket of cubic supermatrices and 3-Lie superalgebra

We construct the graded triple Lie commutator of cubic supermatrices, which we call the quantum super Nambu bracket of cubic supermatrices, and prove that it satisfies the graded Filippov-Jacobi identity of 3-Lie superalgebra. For this purpose we use the basic notions of the calculus of 3-dimensional matrices, define the Z_2-graded (or super) structure of a cubic matrix relative to one of the directions of a cubic matrix and the super trace of a cubic supermatrix. Making use of the super trace of a cubic supermatrix we introduce the triple product of cubic supermatrices and find the identities for this triple product, where one of them can be regarded as the analog of ternary associativity. We also show that given a Lie algebra one can construct the $n$-ary Lie bracket by means of an (n-2)-cochain of given Lie algebra and find the conditions under which this n-ary bracket satisfies the Filippov-Jacobi identity, thereby inducing the structure of n-Lie algebra. We extend this approach to n-Lie superalgebras.

Weil Algebra, 3-Lie Algebra and B.R.S. Algebra

We consider the 3-Lie algebra induced by a Lie algebra with the help of an analog of a trace. We propose the extension of the Weil algebra of a Lie algebra to the Weil algebra of induced 3-Lie algebra by introducing in addition to an analog of connection and its curvature new elements and defining their differential by means of structure constants of 3-Lie algebra. We also propose a new approach to the universal B.R.S. algebra based on the quantum triple Nambu bracket.

Matrix 3-Lie superalgebras and BRST supersymmetry

Given a matrix Lie algebra one can construct the 3-Lie algebra by means of the trace of a matrix. In the present paper we show that this approach can be extended to the infinite-dimensional Lie algebra of vector fields on a manifold if instead of the trace of a matrix we consider a differential 1-form which satisfies certain conditions. Then we show that the same approach can be extended to matrix Lie superalgebras if instead of the trace of a matrix we make use of the super trace of a matrix. It is proved that a graded triple commutator of matrices constructed with the help of the graded commutator and the super trace satisfies a graded ternary Filippov-Jacobi identity. In two particular cases and we show that the Pauli and Dirac matrices generate the matrix 3-Lie superalgebras, and we find the non-trivial graded triple commutators of these algebras. We propose a Clifford algebra approach to 3-Lie superalgebras induced by Lie superalgebras. We also discuss an application of matrix 3-Lie superalgebras in BRST-formalism.

Classification of Low Dimensional 3-Lie Superalgebras

A notion of n-Lie algebra introduced by V.T. Filippov can be viewed as a generalization of a concept of binary Lie algebra to the algebras with n-ary multiplication law. A notion of Lie algebra can be extended to Z_2-graded structures giving a notion of Lie superalgebra. Analogously a notion of n-Lie algebra can be extended to Z_2-graded structures by means of a graded Filippov identity giving a notion of n-Lie superalgebra. We propose a classification of low dimensional 3-Lie superalgebras. We show that given an n-Lie superalgebra equipped with a supertrace one can construct the (n+1)-Lie superalgebra which is referred to as the induced (n+1)-Lie superalgebra. A Clifford algebra endowed with a Z_2-graded structure and a graded commutator can be viewed as the Lie superalgebra. It is well known that this Lie superalgebra has a matrix representation which allows to introduce a supertrace. We apply the method of induced Lie superalgebras to a Clifford algebra to construct the 3-Lie superalgebras and give their explicit description by ternary commutators.

Semi-Commutative Galois Extension and Reduced Quantum Plane

In this paper we show that a semi-commutative Galois extension of associative unital algebra by means of an element, whose Nth power is equal to the identity element of an algebra, where N is an integer greater or equal to two, induces a structure of graded q-differential algebra, where q is a primitive Nth root of unity. A graded q-differential algebra with differential d, whose Nth power is equal to zero, can be viewed as a generalization of graded differential algebra. The subalgebra of elements of degree zero and the subspace of elements of degree one of a graded q-differential algebra together with a differential d can be considered as a first order noncommutative differential calculus. In this paper we assume that we are given a semi-commutative Galois extension of associative unital algebra, then we show how one can construct the graded q-differential algebra and, when this algebra is constructed, we study its first order noncommutative differential calculus. We also study the subspaces of graded q-differential algebra of degree greater than one which we call the higher order noncommutative differential calculus induced by a semi-commutative Galois extension of associative unital algebra. Finally we show that a reduced quantum plane can be viewed as a semi-commutative Galois extension of a fractional one-dimensional space and we apply the noncommutative differential calculus developed in the previous sections to a reduced quantum plane.

Noncommutative Galois Extension and Graded q-Differential Algebra

We show that a semi-commutative Galois extension of a unital associative algebra can be endowed with the structure of a graded q-differential algebra. We study the first and higher order noncommutative differential calculus of semi-commutative Galois extension induced by the graded q-differential algebra. As an example we consider the quaternions which can be viewed as the semi-commutative Galois extension of complex numbers.

Super 3-Lie Algebras Induced by Super Lie Algebras

We propose a notion of a super n-Lie algebra and construct a super n-Lie algebra with the help of a given binary super Lie algebra which is equipped with an analog of a supertrace. We apply this approach to the super Lie algebra of a Clifford algebra with even number of generators and making use of a matrix representation of this super Lie algebra given by a supermodule of spinors we construct a series of super 3-Lie algebras labeled by positive even integers.

Ternary generalizations of Grassmann algebra

We propose the ternary generalization of the classical anti-commutativity and study the algebras whose generators are ternary anti-commutative. The integral over an algebra with an arbitrary number of generators N is defined and the formula of a change of variables is proved. In analogy with the fermion integral we define an analogue of the Pfaffian for a cubic matrix by means of Gaussian type integral and calculate its explicit form in the case of N=3.
