Tempered vs generic automorphic functions and the canonical filtration on automorphic functions

We introduce and study the filtration on the space of automorphic functions (in the everywhere unramified situation for the function field case) obtained by transferring the filtration on the spectral side of the classical Langlands conjecture, induced by coherent singular support. We propose a number of conjectures that tie this filtration (which, by design, arises from the notion of cohomological support) to a filtration on the space of C-valued automorphic functions that arises by considering the analytic spectrum of Hecke operators.

Décomposition au-dessus des paramètres de Langlands elliptiques

We prove that, over any elliptic global Langlands parameter $σ$, the cuspidal cohomology groups of moduli stacks of shtukas are given by a formula involving a finite dimensional representation of the centralizer of $σ$. It is a first step in the direction of Arthur-Kottwitz conjectures.

Shtukas for reductive groups and Langlands correspondence for function fields

We discuss recent developments in the Langlands program for function fields, and in the geometric Langlands program. In particular we explain a canonical decomposition of the space of cuspidal automorphic forms for any reductive group G over a function field, indexed by global Langlands parameters. The proof uses the cohomology of G-shtukas with multiple modifications and the geometric Satake equivalence.

Chtoucas pour les groupes réductifs et paramétrisation de Langlands globale

For any reductive group G over a global function field, we use the cohomology of G-shtukas with multiple modifications and the geometric Satake equivalence to prove the global Langlands correspondence for G in the "automorphic to Galois" direction. Moreover we obtain a canonical decomposition of the spaces of cuspidal automorphic forms indexed by global Langlands parameters. The proof does not rely at all on the Arthur-Selberg trace formula.

Introduction aux chtoucas pour les groupes réductifs et à la paramétrisation de Langlands globale

This is an introduction to the article "Chtoucas pour les groupes réductifs et paramétrisation de Langlands globale", arXiv:1209.5352. We explain all the ideas of the proof.

Introduction to chtoucas for reductive groups and to the global Langlands parameterization

This is a translation in English of version 5 of the article arXiv:1404.3998, which is itself an introduction to arXiv:1209.5352. We explain all the ideas of the proof of the following theorem.

Chtoucas restreints pour les groupes r\'eductifs et param\'etrisation de Langlands locale

We associate to every irreducible representation of a reductive group over a local field of equal characteristics a local Langlands parameter up to semisimplification and prove the compatibility with the global parameterization constructed by the second author. Our method involves stacks of restricted shtukas (which are analogues of truncated Barsotti-Tate groups) and nearby cycles over arbitrary bases.

Vertical versus horizontal Poincaré inequalities on the Heisenberg group

Let $\H= < a,b | a[a,b]=[a,b]a \wedge b[a,b]=[a,b]b>$ be the discrete Heisenberg group, equipped with the left-invariant word metric $d_W(\cdot,\cdot)$ associated to the generating set ${a,b,a^{-1},b^{-1}}$. Letting $B_n= {x\in \H: d_W(x,e_\H)\le n}$ denote the corresponding closed ball of radius $n\in \N$, and writing $c=[a,b]=aba^{-1}b^{-1}$, we prove that if $(X,|\cdot|_X)$ is a Banach space whose modulus of uniform convexity has power type $q\in [2,\infty)$ then there exists $K\in (0,\infty)$ such that every $f:\H\to X$ satisfies {multline*} \sum_{k=1}^{n^2}\sum_{x\in B_n}\frac{|f(xc^k)-f(x)|_X^q}{k^{1+q/2}}\le K\sum_{x\in B_{21n}} \Big(|f(xa)-f(x)|^q_X+\|f(xb)-f(x)\|^q_X\Big). {multline*} It follows that for every $n\in \N$ the bi-Lipschitz distortion of every $f:B_n\to X$ is at least a constant multiple of $(\log n)^{1/q}$, an asymptotically optimal estimate as $n\to\infty$.

Geometrizing the minimal representations of even orthogonal groups

Let X be a smooth projective curve. Write Bun_{SO_{2n}} for the moduli stack of SO_{2n}-torsors on X. We give a geometric interpretation of the automorphic function f on Bun_{SO_{2n}} corresponding to the minimal representation. Namely, we construct a perverse sheaf K on Bun_{SO_{2n}} such that f should be equal to the trace of Frobenius of K plus some constant function. We also calculate K explicitely for curves of genus zero and one. The construction of K is based on some explicit geometric formulas for the Fourier coefficients of f on one hand, and on the geometric theta-lifting on the other hand. Our construction makes sense for more general simple algebraic groups, we formulate the corresponding conjectures. They could provide a geometric interpretation of some unipotent automorphic representations in the framework of the geometric Langlands program.

Structures de Hodge-Pink pour les $φ/\mathfrak S$-modules de Breuil et Kisin

In this article, we apply the methods of our work on Fontaine's theory in equal characteristics to the $φ/\mathfrak S$-modules of Breuil and Kisin. Thanks to a previous article of Kisin, this yields a new and rather elementary proof of the theorem "weakly admissible implies admissible" of Colmez-Fontaine.

Non commutative Lp spaces without the completely bounded approximation property

For any 1\leq p \leq \infty different from 2, we give examples of non-commutative Lp spaces without the completely bounded approximation property. Let F be a non-archimedian local field. If p>4 or p<4/3 and r\geq 3 these examples are the non-commutative Lp-spaces of the von Neumann algebra of lattices in SL_r(F) or in SL_r(\R). For other values of p the examples are the non-commutative Lp-spaces of the von Neumann algebra of lattices in SL_r(F) for r large enough depending on p. We also prove that if r \geq 3 lattices in SL_r(F) or SL_r(\R) do not have the Approximation Property of Haagerup and Kraus. This provides examples of exact C^*-algebras without the operator space approximation property.

Overlap properties of geometric expanders

The {\em overlap number} of a finite $(d+1)$-uniform hypergraph $H$ is defined as the largest constant $c(H)\in (0,1]$ such that no matter how we map the vertices of $H$ into $\R^d$, there is a point covered by at least a $c(H)$-fraction of the simplices induced by the images of its hyperedges. In~\cite{Gro2}, motivated by the search for an analogue of the notion of graph expansion for higher dimensional simplicial complexes, it was asked whether or not there exists a sequence $\{H_n\}_{n=1}^\infty$ of arbitrarily large $(d+1)$-uniform hypergraphs with bounded degree, for which $\inf_{n\ge 1} c(H_n)>0$. Using both random methods and explicit constructions, we answer this question positively by constructing infinite families of $(d+1)$-uniform hypergraphs with bounded degree such that their overlap numbers are bounded from below by a positive constant $c=c(d)$. We also show that, for every $d$, the best value of the constant $c=c(d)$ that can be achieved by such a construction is asymptotically equal to the limit of the overlap numbers of the complete $(d+1)$-uniform hypergraphs with $n$ vertices, as $n\rightarrow\infty$. For the proof of the latter statement, we establish the following geometric partitioning result of independent interest. For any $d$ and any $ε>0$, there exists $K=K(ε,d)\ge d+1$ satisfying the following condition. For any $k\ge K$, for any point $q \in \mathbb{R}^d$ and for any finite Borel measure $μ$ on $\mathbb{R}^d$ with respect to which every hyperplane has measure $0$, there is a partition $\mathbb{R}^d=A_1 \cup \ldots \cup A_{k}$ into $k$ measurable parts of equal measure such that all but at most an $ε$-fraction of the $(d+1)$-tuples $A_{i_1},\ldots,A_{i_{d+1}}$ have the property that either all simplices with one vertex in each $A_{i_j}$ contain $q$ or none of these simplices contain $q$.

Compatibility of the Theta correspondence with the Whittaker functors

We prove that the global geometric theta-lifting functor for the pair (H, G) is compatible with the Whittaker normalization, where (H,G) is one of the pairs (SO_{2n}, Sp_{2n}), (Sp_{2n}, SO_{2n+2}) or (GL_{n},GL_{n+1}). That is, the composition of the theta-lifting functor from H to G with the Whittaker functor for G is isomorphic to the Whittaker functor for H.

Geometric Weil representation: local field case

Let k be an algebraically closed field of characteristic >2, F=k((t)) and Mp(F) denote the metaplectic extension of Sp_{2d}(F). In this paper we propose a geometric analog of the Weil representation of Mp(F). This is a category of certain perverse sheaves on some stack, on which Mp(F) acts by functors. This construction will be used in math.RT/0701170 (and subsequent publications) for a proof of the geometric Langlands functoriality for some dual reductive pairs.
