Comparison of potential models with the np scattering data below 350 MeV

As a follow-up on our earlier paper we calculate the $χ^{2}$ of various $N\!N$ potential models with respect to the $np$ scattering data. We find that only the most recent potential models give a reasonably good description of these data. Almost none of the potentials is truly an $N\!N$ potential in the sense that it gives a good description of both $pp$ and $np$ scattering simultaneously.

Comparison of potential models with the pp scattering data below 350 MeV

We calculate the chi**2 of various NN potential models with respect to the pp scattering data. We find that only the potential models which were explicitly fitted to the pp data give a reasonable description of these data. Most models give a pretty large chi**2 on the very low-energy pp data, due to incorrect 1S0 phase shifts.

On the pion-nucleon coupling constant

In view of persisting misunderstanding about the determination of the pion-nucleon coupling constants in the Nijmegen multienergy partial-wave analyses of pp, np, and pbar-p scattering data, we present additional information which may clarify several points of discussion. We comment on several recent papers addressing the issue of the pion-nucleon coupling constant and criticizing the Nijmegen analyses.
