Stochastic differential equations with variable structure driven by multiplicative Gaussian noise and sliding mode dynamic

This work is concerned with existence of weak solutions to discon- tinuous stochastic differential equations driven by multiplicative Gaus- sian noise and sliding mode control dynamics generated by stochastic differential equations with variable structure, that is with jump nonlin- earity. The treatment covers the finite dimensional stochastic systems and the stochastic diffusion equation with multiplicative noise.

Nonlinear parabolic flows with dynamic flux on the boundary

A nonlinear divergence parabolic equation with dynamic boundary conditions of Wentzell type is studied. The existence and uniqueness of a strong solution is obtained as the limit of a finite difference scheme, in the time dependent case and via a semigroup approach in the time-invariant case.

Stochastic nonlinear Schrödinger equations: no blow-up in the non-conservative case

This paper is devoted to the study of noise effects on blow-up solutions to stochastic nonlinear Schrödinger equations. It is a continuation of our recent work \cite{BRZ14}, where the (local) well-posedness is established in $H^1$, also in the non-conservative critical case. Here we prove that in the non-conservative focusing mass-(super)critical case, by adding a large multiplicative Gaussian noise, with high probability one can prevent the blow-up on any given bounded time interval $[0,T]$, $0<T<\9$. Moreover, in the case of spatially independent noise, the explosion even can be prevented with high probability on the whole time interval $[0,\9)$. The noise effects obtained here are completely different from those in the conservative case studied in \cite{BD03}.

The stochastic porous media equation in $\R^d$

Existence and uniqueness of solutions to the stochastic porous media equation $dX-\Dψ(X) dt=XdW$ in $\rr^d$ are studied. Here, $W$ is a Wiener process, $ψ$ is a maximal monotone graph in $\rr\times\rr$ such that $ψ(r)\le C|r|^m$, $\ff r\in\rr$, $W$ is a coloured Wiener process. In this general case the dimension is restricted to $d\ge 3$, the main reason being the absence of a convenient multiplier result in the space $\calh=\{φ\in\mathcal{S}'(\rr^d);\ |ξ|(\calfφ)(ξ)\in L^2(\rr^d)\}$, for $d\le2$. When $ψ$ is Lipschitz, the well-posedness, however, holds for all dimensions on the classical Sobolev space $H^{-1}(\rr^d)$. If $ψ(r)r\geρ|r|^{m+1}$ and $m=\frac{d-2}{d+2}$, we prove the finite time extinction with strictly positive probability.

An operatorial approach to stochastic partial differential equations driven by linear multiplicative noise

In this paper, we develop a new general approach to the existence and uniqueness theory of infinite dimensional stochastic equations of the form dX+A(t)Xdt = XdW in (0;T)xH, where A(t) is a nonlinear monotone and demicontinuous operator from V to V', coercive and with polynomial growth. Here, V is a reflexive Banach space continuously and densely embedded in a Hilbert space H of (generalized) functions on a domain $O\subset \mathbb{R}^d$ and V' is the dual of V in the duality induced by H as pivot space. Furthermore, W is a Wiener process in H. The new approach is based on an operatorial reformulation of the stochastic equation which is quite robust under perturbation of A(t). This leads to new existence and uniqueness results of a larger class of equations with linear multiplicative noise than the one treatable by the known approaches. In addition, we obtain regularity results for the solutions with respect to both the time and spatial variable which are sharper than the classical ones. New applications include stochastic partial differential equations, as e.g. stochastic transport equations.

A stochastic Fokker-Planck equation and double probabilistic representation for the stochastic porous media type equation

The purpose of the present paper consists in proposing and discussing a double probabilistic representation for a porous media equation in the whole space perturbed by a multiplicative colored noise. For almost all random realizations $ω$, one associates a stochastic differential equation in law with random coefficients, driven by an independent Brownian motion. The key ingredient is a uniqueness lemma for a linear SPDE of Fokker-Planck type with measurable bounded (possibly degenerated) random coefficients.

Stochastic nonlinear Schrödinger equations

This paper is devoted to the well-posedness of stochastic nonlinear Schrödinger equations in the energy space H1(Rd), which is a natural continuation of our recent work [1]. We consider both focusing and defocusing nonlinearities and prove global well-posedness in H1(Rd), including also the pathwise continuous dependence on initial conditions, with exponents exactly the same as in the deterministic case. In particular, this work improves earlier results in [4]. Moreover, the local existence, uniqueness and blowup alternative are also established for the energy-critical case. The approach presented here is mainly based on the rescaling approach already used in [1] to study the L2 case and also on the Strichartz estimates established in [12] for large perturbations of the Laplacian.

Existence and convergence results for infinite dimensional nonlinear stochastic equations with multiplicative noise

The solution $X_n$ to a nonlinear stochastic differential equation of the form $dX_n(t)+A_n(t)X_n(t)\,dt-\tfrac12\sum_{j=1}^N(B_j^n(t))^2X_n(t)\,dt=\sum_{j=1}^N B_j^n(t)X_n(t)dβ_j^n(t)+f_n(t)\,dt$, $X_n(0)=x$, where $β_j^n$ is a regular approximation of a Brownian motion $β_j$, $B_j^n(t)$ is a family of linear continuous operators from $V$ to $H$ strongly convergent to $B_j(t)$, $A_n(t)\to A(t)$, $\{A_n(t)\}$ is a family of maximal monotone nonlinear operators of subgradient type from $V$ to $V'$, is convergent to the solution to the stochastic differential equation $dX(t)+A(t)X(t)\,dt-\frac12\sum_{j=1}^NB_j^2(t)X(t)\,dt=\sum_{j=1}^NB_j(t)X(t)\,dβ_j(t)+f(t) \,dt$, $X(0)=x$. Here $V\subset H\cong H'\subset V'$ where $V$ is a reflexive Banach space with dual $V'$ and $H$ is a Hilbert space. These results can be reformulated in terms of Stratonovich stochastic equation $dY(t)+A(t)Y(t)\,dt=\sum_{j=1}^NB_j(t)Y(t)\circ dβ_j(t)+f(t)\,dt$.

Stochastic variational inequalities and applications to the total variation flow perturbed by linear multiplicative noise

In this work, we introduce a new method to prove the existence and uniqueness of a variational solution to the stochastic nonlinear diffusion equation $dX(t)={\rm div} [\frac{\nabla X(t)}{|\nabla X(t)|}]dt+X(t)dW(t) in (0,\infty)\times\mathcal{O},$ where $\mathcal{O}$ is a bounded and open domain in $\mathbb{R}^N$, $N\ge 1$, and $W(t)$ is a Wiener process of the form $W(t)=\sum^\infty_{k=1}μ_k e_kβ_k(t)$, $e_k \in C^2(\bar\mathcal{O})\cap H^1_0(\mathcal{O}),$ and $β_k$, $k\in\mathbb{N}$, are independent Brownian motions. This is a stochastic diffusion equation with a highly singular diffusivity term and one main result established here is that, for all initial conditions in $L^2(\mathcal{O})$, it is well posed in a class of continuous solutions to the corresponding stochastic variational inequality. Thus one obtains a stochastic version of the (minimal) total variation flow. The new approach developed here also allows to prove the finite time extinction of solutions in dimensions $1\le N\le 3$, which is another main result of this work. Keywords: stochastic diffusion equation, Brownian motion, bounded variation, convex functions, bounded variation flow.

Stochastic porous media equations and self-organized criticality: convergence to the critical state in all dimensions

If $X=X(t,ξ)$ is the solution to the stochastic porous media equation in $\cal O\subset\mathbb{R}^d$, $1\le d\le 3,$ modelling the self-organized criticaity and $X_c$ is the critical state, then it is proved that $\int^\9_0m(\cal O\setminus\cal O^t_0)dt<\9,$ $\mathbb{P}{-a.s.}$ and $\lim_{t\to\9}\int_{\cal O}|X(t)-X_c|dξ=\ell<\9,\ \mathbb{P}{-a.s.}$ Here, $m$ is the Lebesgue measure and $\cal O^t_c$ is the critical region $\{ξ\in\cal O;$ $ X(t,ξ)=X_c(ξ)\}$ and $X_c(ξ)\le X(0,ξ)$ a.e. $ξ\in\cal O$. If the stochastic Gaussian perturbation has only finitely many modes (but is still function-valued), $\lim_{t\to\9}\int_K|X(t)-X_c|dξ=0$ exponentially fast for all compact $K\subset\cal O$ with probability one, if the noise is sufficiently strong. We also recover that in the deterministic case $\ell=0$.

Internal exponential stabilization to a non-stationary solution for 3D Navier-Stokes equations

We consider the Navier-Stokes system in a bounded domain with a smooth boundary. Given a sufficiently regular time-dependent global solution, we construct a finite-dimensional feedback control that is supported by a given open set and stabilizes the linearized equation. The proof of this fact is based on a truncated observability inequality, the regularizing property for the linearized equation, and some standard techniques of the optimal control theory. We then show that the control constructed for the linear problem stabilizes locally also the full Navier-Stokes system.

Kolmogorov equation associated to the stochastic reflection problem on a smooth convex set of a Hilbert space

We consider the stochastic reflection problem associated with a self-adjoint operator $A$ and a cylindrical Wiener process on a convex set $K$ with nonempty interior and regular boundary $Σ$ in a Hilbert space $H$. We prove the existence and uniqueness of a smooth solution for the corresponding elliptic infinite-dimensional Kolmogorov equation with Neumann boundary condition on $Σ$.
