Revisiting the blow-up criterion and the maximal existence time for solutions of the parabolic-elliptic Keller-Segel system in 2d-Euclidean space

In this paper, we revisit the blow-up criteria for the simplest parabolic-elliptic (PKS) system in the 2D Euclidean space, including a consumption term. In the supercritical mass case M > 8pi, and under an additional global assumption on the second moment (or variance) of the initial data, we establish blow-up results for a broader class of initial conditions than those traditionally considered. We also derive improved upper bounds for the maximal existence time of (PKS) solutions on the plane. These time estimates are obtained through a sharp analysis of a one-parameter differential inequality governing the evolution of the second moment of the (PKS) system. As a consequence, for any given non-negative (non-zero) initial datum n1 with finite second moment, we construct blow-up solutions of the (PKS) system.

Schrödinger equation on noncompact symmetric spaces

We establish sharp-in-time kernel and dispersive estimates for the Schrödinger equation on non-compact Riemannian symmetric spaces of any rank. Due to the particular geometry at infinity and the Kunze-Stein phenomenon, these properties are more pronounced in large time and enable us to prove the global-in-time Strichartz inequality for a larger family of admissible couples than in the Euclidean case. Consequently, we obtain the global well-posedness for the corresponding semilinear equation with lower regularity data and some scattering properties for small powers which are known to fail in the Euclidean setting. The crucial kernel estimates are achieved by combining the stationary phase method based on a subtle barycentric decomposition, a subordination formula of the Schrödinger group to the wave propagator and an improved Hadamard parametrix.

The Keller-segel System On The 2d-hyperbolic Space

In this paper, we shall study the parabolic-elliptic Keller-Segel system on the Poincar{é} disk model of the 2D-hyperbolic space. We shall investigate how the negative curvature of this Riemannian manifold influences the solutions of this system. As in the 2D-Euclidean case, under the sub-critical condition $χ$M < 8$π$, we shall prove global well-posedness results with any initial L 1-data. More precisely, by using dispersive and smoothing estimates we shall prove Fujita-Kato type theorems for local well-posedness. We shall then use the logarithmic Hardy-Littlewood-Sobolev estimates on the hyper-bolic space to prove that the solution cannot blow-up in finite time. For larger mass $χ$M > 8$π$, we shall obtain a blow-up result under an additional condition with respect to the flat case, probably due to the spectral gap of the Laplace-Beltrami operator. According to the exponential growth of the hyperbolic space, we find a suitable weighted moment of exponential type on the initial data for blow-up.

Log-Sobolev inequalities for semi-direct product operators and applications

We prove logarithmic Sobolev inequalities for semi-direct product operators (see definition in Section 1). We apply our main results to examples of operators and provide some applications to ultracontractive bounds of semigroups. Hardy's inequalities are proved and use to study some operators of Grushin's type.

The incompressible Navier-Stokes equations on non-compact manifolds

We shall prove dispersive and smoothing estimates for Bochner type laplacians on some non-compact Riemannian manifolds with negative Ricci curvature, in particular on hyperbolic spaces. These estimates will be used to prove Fujita-Kato type theorems for the incompressible Navier-Stokes equations. We shall also discuss the uniqueness of Leray weak solutions in the two dimensional case.

Wave and Klein-Gordon equations on hyperbolic spaces

We consider the Klein--Gordon equation associated with the Laplace--Beltrami operator $Δ$ on real hyperbolic spaces of dimension $n\!\ge\!2$; as $Δ$ has a spectral gap, the wave equation is a particular case of our study. After a careful kernel analysis, we obtain dispersive and Strichartz estimates for a large family of admissible couples. As an application, we prove global well--posedness results for the corresponding semilinear equation with low regularity data.

The wave equation on hyperbolic spaces

In this paper, we study the dispersive properties of the wave equation associated with the shifted Laplace-Beltrami operator on real hyperbolic spaces, and deduce Strichartz estimates for a large family of admissible pairs. As an application, we obtain local well-posedness results for the nonlinear wave equation.

The wave equation on Damek-Ricci spaces

We study the dispersive properties of the wave equation associated with the shifted Laplace-Beltrami operator on Damek-Ricci spaces, and deduce Strichartz estimates for a large family of admissible pairs. As an application, we obtain global well-posedness results for the nonlinear wave equation.

Dispersive estimates and NLS on product manifolds

We prove a general dispersive estimate for a Schroedinger type equation on a product manifold, under the assumption that the equation restricted to each factor satisfies suitable dispersive estimates. Among the applications are the two-particle Schroedinger equations on Euclidean spaces, and the nonlinear Schroedinger equation on the product of two real hyperbolic spaces.

Schrödinger equation on Damek-Ricci spaces

In this paper we consider the Laplace-Beltrami operator Δon Damek-Ricci spaces and derive pointwise estimates for the kernel of exp(τΔ), when τ\in C* with Re(τ) \geq 0. When τ\in iR*, we obtain in particular pointwise estimates of the Schrödinger kernel associated with Δ. We then prove Strichartz estimates for the Schrödinger equation, for a family of admissible pairs which is larger than in the Euclidean case. This extends the results obtained by Anker and Pierfelice on real hyperbolic spaces. As a further application, we study the dispersive properties of the Schrödinger equation associated with a distinguished Laplacian on Damek-Ricci spaces, showing that in this case the standard dispersive estimate fails while suitable weighted Strichartz estimates hold.

Nonlinear Schrödinger equation on real hyperbolic spaces

We consider the Schrödinger equation with no radial assumption on real hyperbolic spaces. We obtain sharp dispersive and Strichartz estimates for a large family of admissible pairs. As a first consequence, we get strong well-posedness results for NLS. Specifically, for small intial data, we prove $L^2$ and $H^1$ global well-posedness for any subcritical nonlinearity (in contrast with the Euclidean case) and with no gauge invariance assumption on the nonlinearity $F$. On the other hand, if $F$ is gauge invariant, $L^2$ charge is conserved and hence, as in the Euclidean case, it is possible to extend local $L^2$ solutions to global ones. The corresponding argument in $H^1$ requires the conservation of energy, which holds under the stronger condition that $F$ is defocusing. Recall that global well-posedness in the gauge invariant case was already proved by Banica, Carles & Staffilani, for small radial $L^2$ data and for large radial $H^1$ data. The second important application of our global Strichartz estimates is "scattering" for NLS both in $L^2$ and in $H^1$, with no radial or gauge invariance assumption. Notice that, in the Euclidean case, this is only possible for the critical power $γ=1+\frac4n$ and can be false for subcritical powers while, on hyperbolic spaces, global existence and scattering of small $L^2$ solutions holds for all powers $1<γ\le1+\frac4n$. If we restrict to defocusing nonlinearities $F$, we can extend the $H^1$ scattering results of Banica, Carles & Staffilani to the nonradial case. Also there is no distinction anymore between short range and long range nonlinearity : the geometry of hyperbolic spaces makes every power-like nonlinearity short range.

Dispersive estimate for the Schroedinger equation with point interactions

We consider the Schroedinger operator in R^3 with N point interactions placed at Y=(y_1, ... ,y_N), y_j in R^3, of strength a=(a_1, ... ,a_N). Exploiting the spectral theorem and the rather explicit expression for the resolvent we prove a (weighted) dispersive estimate for the corresponding Schroedinger flow. In the special case N=1 the proof is directly obtained from the unitary group which is known in closed form.

On the wave equation with a large rough potential

We prove an optimal dispersive $L^{\infty}$ decay estimate for a three dimensional wave equation perturbed with a large non smooth potential belonging to a particular Kato class. The proof is based on a spectral representation of the solution and suitable resolvent estimates for the perturbed operator.

Some remarks on the Schrödinger equation with a potential in $L^{r}_{t}L^{s}_{x}$

We study the dispersive properties of the linear Schrödinger equation with a time-dependent potential $V(t,x)$. We show that an appropriate integrability condition in space and time on $V$, i.e. the boundedness of a suitable $L^{r}_{t}L^{s}_{x}$ norm, is sufficient to prove the full set of Strichartz estimates. We also construct several counterexamples which show that our assumptions are optimal, both for local and for global Strichartz estimates, in the class of large unsigned potentials $V\in L^{r}_tL^{s}_x$.
