Investigation of spectral properties of ^{11}Be in breakup reactions

We investigate the breakup of the ^{11}Be halo nuclei on a light target ^{12}C within quantum-quasiclassical approach in a wide range of the beam energy (5-67 MeV/nucleon) including bound states and low-lying resonances in different partial and spin states of ^{11}Be. The obtained results are in good agreement with existing experimental data at 67 MeV/nucleon. We also demonstrate that the developed computational scheme can be used for investigation of nuclei spectral properties in low-energy breakup experiments on different targets.

Confinement-Induced Resonances in Low-Dimensional Quantum Systems

We report on the observation of confinement-induced resonances in strongly interacting quantum-gas systems with tunable interactions for one- and two-dimensional geometry. Atom-atom scattering is substantially modified when the s-wave scattering length approaches the length scale associated with the tight transversal confinement, leading to characteristic loss and heating signatures. Upon introducing an anisotropy for the transversal confinement we observe a splitting of the confinement-induced resonance. With increasing anisotropy additional resonances appear. In the limit of a two-dimensional system we find that one resonance persists.

Quantum energy flow in atomic ions moving in magnetic fields

Using a combination of semiclassical and recently developed wave packet propagation techniques we find the quantum self-ionization process of highly excited ions moving in magnetic fields which has its origin in the energy transfer from the center of mass to the electronic motion. It obeys a time scale by orders of magnitude larger than the corresponding classical process. Importantly a quantum coherence phenomenon leading to the intermittent behaviour of the ionization signal is found and analyzed. Universal properties of the ionization process are established.
