Experimental confirmation of breach of the basic postulate of Statistical Physics

In the course of computer modeling of the most probable stationary macrostates of non-ergodic closed systems, a forecast was obtained about the existence of limits of applicability of the basic axiomatic postulate of statistical physics, known as the Principle of Equiprobability of each realizable microstate. Moreover, for such systems, thermodynamic equilibrium is no longer the only permissible stationary state. The possibility of other most probable macrostates is predicted, which are characterized by the presence of a stable anisotropy of the polarization parameters of thermal radiation filling these systems. The article presents successful results of direct experimental verification of the above prognosis on a real physical installation. Important regularities inherent in the used mathematical model are noted.

Experimental confirmation of the redundancy of the axiomatic principles of statistical physics

In the process of analyzing the axiomatic principles underlying statistical physics, when modeling the most probable stationary macrostates of non-ergodic closed systems, a forecast was obtained about a possible limitation purview of the main postulate, known as the principle of equiprobability for each realizable of microstate. It is assumed that if such a system is artificially brought into a thermodynamically equilibrium state, in particular, by filling it with thermal Planck radiation of the appropriate temperature, then the subsequent evolution of the state of this system can cause the appearance of stable polarization anisotropy of said radiation. The paper presents the successful results of a direct verification of aforesaid prognosis on a real physical installation. Important regularities characteristic of the applied mathematical model are noted.

Breakdown of the zeroth law of thermodynamics as a consequence of diffraction of diffuse radiation at multidimensional regular structures

This article is devoted to the complete results of an experimental test of the theoretical assumption that the basic axiomatic postulate of statistical physics according to which it is equally probable for a closed system to reside in any of the microstates accessible to it may be invalid for nonergodic cases. In the course of photometric experiments for the purpose of recording the predicted loss of isotropy by a diffuse light field when it came into contact with a two-dimensional phase-type diffraction grating, a significant deviation from Lambert's law was detected when the diffuse photon gas was scattered by the grating surface. This caused angular anisotropy of the radiation fluxes to appear in the initially homogeneous light field. These results provide a basis for revising the determination of the most probable macrostate of a closed system.
