The Dual Majorizing Measure Theorem for Canonical Processes

We give a dual, separated-tree formulation of Latala's majorizing measure theorem for canonical processes with log-concave tails. Under the same assumptions as in Latala's characterization, we introduce parameterized separation trees and prove that the expected supremum is equivalent, up to universal constants, to the corresponding tree functional. We also develop a pointwise growth condition, inspired by the contraction principle, which leads to a deterministic polynomial-time algorithm for approximating the expected supremum when the index set is finite.

Uniform Concentration for $α$-subexponential Random Operators

Random matrices acting on structured sets play a fundamental role in high-dimensional geometry, compressed sensing, and randomized algorithms. Existing results primarily focus on subgaussian models, when random matrices act as near-isometries on sets with optimal tail behavior. Nevertheless, very often in applications we deal with distributions with heavy tails that are not subgaussian but have at least exponential-type tails. In this work, we study random matrices A whose rows (or columns) have $α$-subexponential tail distributions with $α\in (0,2]$. So subgaussian and sub-exponential models are included in as special cases. We establish concentration type inequality for $Ax$, where x belongs to the bounded subsets of $\mathbb{R}^n$, showing that their geometric distortion is governed by Talagrand's functional of the set and depends on the tail parameter $α$. Our results extend the known optimal inequalities in the subgaussian regime ($α=2$), and provide new guarantees for heavier-tailed, yet exponentially integrable, random matrices. These findings extend the theory of random matrices beyond the subgaussian framework. Moreover, they yield near-isometric embedding results applicable to dimension reduction and allow us to make robust high-dimensional inference under non-Gaussian measurements.

From classical to modern central limit theorems

De Moivre (1733), investigating the limit distribution of the binomial distribution, was the first to discover the existence of the normal distribution and the central limit theorem. In this review article, we briefly recall the history of classical central limit theorem and martingale central limit theorem, and introduce a new direction of central limit theorem, namely nonlinear central limit theorem and nonlinear normal distribution.

Approximation of Sums of Locally Dependent Random Variables via Perturbation of Stein Operator

Let $(X_{i}, i\in J)$ be a family of locally dependent nonnegative integer-valued random variables, and consider the sum $W=\sum\nolimits_{i\in J}X_i$. We first establish a general error upper bound for $d_{TV}(W, M)$ using Stein's method, where the target variable $M$ is either the mixture of Poisson distribution and binomial or negative binomial distribution. As applications, we attain $O(|J|^{-1})$ error bounds for ($k_{1},k_{2}$)-runs and $k$-runs under some special cases. Our results are significant improvements of the existing results in literature, say $O(|J|^{-0.5})$ in Peköz [Bernoulli, 19 (2013)] and $O(1)$ in Upadhye, et al. [Bernoulli, 23 (2017)].

On De la Peña Type Inequalities for Point Processes

There has been a renewed interest in exponential concentration inequalities for stochastic processes in probability and statistics over the last three decades. De la Peña \cite{d} establishes a nice exponential inequality for discrete time locally square integrable martingale . In this paper, we obtain de la Peña's inequalities for stochastic integral of multivariate point processes. The proof is primarily based on Doléans-Dade exponential formula and the optional stopping theorem. As application, we obtain an exponential inequality for block counting process in $Λ-$coalescents.

On rate of convergence to the Poisson law of the number of cycles in the generalized random graphs

Convergence of order $O(1/\sqrt{n})$ is obtained for the distance in total variation between the Poisson distribution and the distribution of the number of fixed size cycles in generalized random graphs with random vertex weights. The weights are assumed to be independent identically distributed random variables which have a power-law distribution. The proof is based on the Chen--Stein approach and on the derived properties of the ratio of the sum of squares of random variables and the sum of these variables. These properties can be applied to other asymptotic problems related to generalized random graphs.

Two-sided inequalities for the density function's maximum of weighted sum of chi-square variables

Two--sided bounds are constructed for a probability density function of a weighted sum of chi-square variables. Both cases of central and non-central chi-square variables are considered. The upper and lower bounds have the same dependence on the parameters of the sum and differ only in absolute constants. The estimates obtained will be useful, in particular, when comparing two Gaussian random elements in a Hilbert space and in multidimensional central limit theorems, including the infinite-dimensional case.

Second Order Expansions for Sample Median with Random Sample Size

In practice, we often encounter situations where a sample size is not defined in advance and can be a random value. The randomness of the sample size crucially changes the asymptotic properties of the underlying statistic. In the present paper second order Chebyshev--Edgeworth and Cornish--Fisher expansions based of Student's $t$- and Laplace distributions and their quantiles are derived for sample median with random sample size of a special kind.

On Properties of Polynomials in Random Elements

The paper deals with different properties of polynomials in random elements: bounds for characteristics functionals of polynomials, stochastic generalization of the Vinogradov mean value theorem, characterization problem, bounds for probabilities to hit the balls. These results cover the cases where the random elements take values in finite as well as infinite dimensional Hilbert spaces.
