Noncommutative gravity and the relevance of the $θ$-constant deformation

In this Letter we construct the noncommutative (NC) gravity model on the $θ$-constant NC space-time. We start from the NC $SO(2,3)_\star$ gauge theory and use the enveloping algebra approach and the Seiberg-Witten map to construct the effective NC gravity action. The action and the equations of motion are expanded up to second order in the deformation parameter. The equations of motion show that the noncommutativity plays a role of a source for the curvature and/or torsion. Finally, we calculate the NC corrections to the Minkowski space-time and we show that in the presence of noncommutativity Minkowski space-time becomes curved, but remains torsion-free. The breaking of diffeomorphism invariance is understood in terms of the preferred coordinate system. We show that the coordinates we are using are the Fermi normal coordinates. This suggests that the natural coordinate system in which one should study NC gravity is given by the Fermi normal coordinates.

Noncommutative SO(2,3) gauge theory and noncommutative gravity

In this paper noncommutative gravity is constructed as a gauge theory of the noncommutative SO(2,3) group, while the noncommutativity is canonical (constant). The Seiberg-Witten map is used to express noncommutative fields in terms of the corresponding commutative fields. The commutative limit of the model is the Einstein-Hilbert action with the cosmological constant term and the topological Gauss-Bonnet term. We calculate the second order correction to this model and obtain terms that are of zeroth to fourth power in the curvature tensor and torsion. Trying to relate our results with $f(R)$ and $f(T)$ models, we analyze different limits of our model. In the limit of big cosmological constant and vanishing torsion we obtain a $x$-dependent correction to the cosmological constant, i.e. noncommutativity leads to a $x$-dependent cosmological constant. We also discuss the limit of small cosmological constant and vanishing torsion and the teleparallel limit.

The role of the Seiberg-Witten field redefinition in renormalization of noncommutative chiral electrodynamics

It has been conjectured in the literature that renormalizability of the $θ$-expanded noncommutative gauge theories improves when one takes into account full nonuniqueness of the Seiberg-Witten expansion, which relates noncommutative (`high-energy') with commutative (`low-energy') fields. In order to check this conjecture we analyze renormalizability of the noncommutative chiral electrodynamics: we quantize the action which contains all possible terms implied by the SW map. After renormalization we arrive at a different theory in which the relation between the coupling constants is changed. This means that the $θ$-expanded chiral electrodynamics is not renormalizable: when fermions are included, the SW expansion is not preserved in quantization.

On analytical solutions of f(R) modified gravity theories in FLRW cosmologies

A novel analytical method for f(R) modified theories without matter in Friedmann-Lemaitre-Robertson-Walker spacetimes is introduced. The equation of motion for the scale factor in terms of cosmic time is reduced to the equation for the evolution of the Ricci scalar R with the Hubble parameter H. The solution of equation of motion for actions of the form of power law in Ricci scalar R, is presented with a detailed elaboration of the action quadratic in R. The reverse use of the introduced method is exemplified in finding functional forms f(R) which lead to specified scale factor functions. The analytical solutions are corroborated by numerical calculations with excellent agreement. Possible further applications to the phases of inflationary expansion and late-time acceleration as well as f(R) theories with radiation are outlined.

AdS-inspired noncommutative gravity on the Moyal plane

We consider noncommutative gravity on a space with canonical noncommutativity that is based on the commutative MacDowell-Mansouri action. Gravity is treated as gauge theory of the noncommutative $SO(1,3)_\star$ group and the Seiberg-Witten (SW) map is used to express noncommutative fields in terms of the corresponding commutative fields. In the commutative limit the noncommutative action reduces to the Einstein-Hilbert action plus the cosmological term and the topological Gauss-Bonnet term. After the SW expansion in the noncommutative parameter the first order correction to the action, as expected, vanishes. We calculate the second order correction and write it in a manifestly gauge covariant way.

Twisted SUSY: twisted symmetry versus renormalizability

We discuss a deformation of superspace based on a hermitian twist. The twist implies a $\star$-product that is noncommutative, hermitian and finite when expanded in power series of the deformation parameter. The Leibniz rule for the twisted SUSY transformations is deformed. A minimal deformation of the Wess-Zumino action is proposed and its renormalizability properties are discussed. There is no tadpole contribution, but the two-point function diverges. We speculate that the deformed Leibniz rule, or more generally the twisted symmetry, interferes with renormalizability properties of the model. We discuss different possibilities to render a renormalizable model.

(Non)renormalizability of the D-deformed Wess-Zumino model

We continue the analysis of the $D$-deformed Wess-Zumino model which was started in the previous paper. The model is defined by a deformation which is non-hermitian and given in terms of the covariant derivatives $D_α$. We calculate one-loop divergences in the two-point, three-point and four-point Green functions. We find that the divergences in the four-point function cannot be absorbed and thus our model is not renormalizable. We discuss possibilities to render the model renormalizable.

D-deformed Wess-Zumino model and its renormalizability properties

Using the methods developed in earlier papers we analyze a new type of deformation of the superspace. The twist we use to deform the N=1 SUSY Hopf algebra is non-hermitian and is given in terms of the covariant derivatives $D_α$. A SUSY invariant deformation of the Wess-Zumino action is constructed and compared with results already known in the literature. Finally, by calculating divergences of the two-point Green functions a preliminary analysis of renormalizability properties of the constructed model is done. As expected, there is no renormalization of mass and no tadpole diagrams appear.

Field Theory on Nonanticommutative Superspace

We discuss a deformation of the Hopf algebra of supersymmetry (SUSY) transformations based on a special choice of twist. As usual, algebra itself remains unchanged, but the comultiplication changes. This leads to the deformed Leibniz rule for SUSY transformations. Superfields are elements of the algebra of functions of the usual supercoordinates. Elements of this algebra are multiplied by using a $\star$-product which is noncommutative, hermitian and finite when expanded in power series of the deformation parameter. Chiral fields are no longer a subalgebra of the algebra of superfields. One possible deformation of the Wess-Zumino action is proposed and analysed in detail. Differently from most of the literature concerning this subject, we work in Minkowski space-time.

Non-commutative SU(N) gauge theories and asymptotic freedom

In this paper we analyze the one-loop renormalization of the $θ$-expanded $\rm SU(N)$ Yang-Mills theory. We show that the {\it freedom parameter} $a$, key to renormalization, originates from higher order non-commutative gauge interaction, represented by a higher derivative term $ b h θ^{μν}\hat F_{μν}\star\hat F_{ρσ}\star\hat F^{ρσ}$. The renormalization condition fixes the allowed values of the parameter $a$ to one of the two solutions: $a=1$ or $a=3$, i.e. to $b=0$ or to $b=1/2$, respectively. When the higher order interaction is switched on, ($a=3$), pure non-commutative SU(N) gauge theory at first order in $θ$-expansion becomes one-loop renormalizable for various representations of the gauge group. We also show that, in the case $a=3$ and the adjoint representation of the gauge fields, the non-commutative deformation parameter $h$ has to be renormalized and it is asymptotically free.

The one-loop renormalization of the gauge sector in the noncommutative standard model

In this paper we construct a version of the standard model gauge sector on noncommutative space-time which is one-loop renormalizable to first order in the expansion in the noncommutativity parameter $θ$. The one-loop renormalizability is obtained by the Seiberg-Witten redefinition of the noncommutative gauge potential for the model containing the usual six representations of matter fields of the first generation.

Dyons in Nonabelian Born-Infeld Theory

We analyze a nonabelian extension of Born--Infeld action for the SU(2) group. In the class of spherically symmetric solutions we find that, besides the Gal'tsov--Kerner glueballs, only the analytic dyons have finite energy. The presented analytic and numerical investigation excludes the existence of pure magnetic monopoles of 't Hooft--Polyakov type.

On divergent 3-vertices in noncommutative SU(2)gauge theory

We analyze divergencies in 2-point and 3-point functions for noncommutative $θ$-expanded SU(2)-gauge theory with massless fermions. We show that, after field redefinition and renormalization of couplings, one divergent term remains.

Non-renormalizability of noncommutative SU(2) gauge theory

We analyze the divergent part of the one-loop effective action for the noncommutative SU(2) gauge theory coupled to the fermions in the fundamental representation. We show that the divergencies in the 2-point and the 3-point functions in the $θ$-linear order can be renormalized, while the divergence in the 4-point fermionic function cannot.

Quantum corrections for BTZ black hole via 2D reduced model

The one-loop quantum corrections for BTZ black hole are considered using the dimensionally reduced 2D model. Cases of 3D minimal and conformal coupling are analyzed. Two cases are considered: minimally coupled and conformally coupled 3D scalar matter. In the minimal case, the Hartle-Hawking and Unruh vacuum states are defined and the corresponding semiclassical corrections of the geometry are found. The calculations are done for the conformal case too, in order to make the comparison with the exact results obtained previously in the special case of spinless black hole. Beside that we find exact corrections for AdS black hole for 2D minimally coupled scalar field in the Hatrle-Hawking and Boulware state
