On the spectral stability of soliton-like solutions to a non-local hydrodynamic-type model

A model of nonlinear elastic medium with internal structure is considered. The medium is assumed to contain cavities, microcracks or blotches of substances that differ sharply in physical properties from the base material. To describe the wave processes in such a medium, the averaged values of physical fields are used. This leads to nonlinear evolutionary PDEs, differing from the classical balance equations. The system under consideration possesses a family of invariant soliton-like solutions. These solutions are shown to be spectrally stable under certain restrictions on the parameters.

Lie-Bäcklund symmetry and non-invariant solutions of nonlinear evolution equations

We study the symmetry reduction of nonlinear partial differential equations which are used for describing diffusion processes in nonhomogeneous medium. We find ansatzes reducing partial differential equations to systems of ordinary differential equations. The ansatzes are constructed by using operators of Lie-Bäcklund symmetry of third order ordinary differential equation. The method gives the possibility to find solutions which cannot be obtained by virtue of classical Lie method. Such solutions have been constructed for nonlinear diffusion equations which are invariant with respect to one-parameter, two-parameter and three-parameter Lie groups of point transformations.

Solitary waves in the model of active media, taking into account relaxing effects

We study a system of differential equation simulating transport phenomena in active structured media. The model is a generalization of the McKean s modification of the celebrated FitzHugh--Nagumo system, describing the nerve impulse propagation in axon. It takes into account the effects of memory, connected with the presence of internal structure. We construct explicitly the localized traveling wave solutions and analyze their stability.

Constructing Soliton and Kink Solutions of PDE Models in Transport and Biology

We present a review of our recent works directed towards discovery of a periodic, kink-like and soliton-like travelling wave solutions within the models of transport phenomena and the mathematical biology. Analytical description of these wave patterns is carried out by means of our modification of the direct algebraic balance method. In the case when the analytical description fails, we propose to approximate invariant travelling wave solutions by means of an infinite series of exponential functions. The effectiveness of the method of approximation is demonstrated on a hyperbolic modification of Burgers equation.

Exact Travelling Wave Solutions of Some Nonlinear Nonlocal Evolutionary Equations

Direct algebraic method of obtaining exact solutions to nonlinear PDE's is applied to certain set of nonlinear nonlocal evolutionary equations, including nonlinear telegraph equation, hyperbolic generalization of Burgers equation and some spatially nonlocal hydrodynamic-type model. Special attention is paid to the construction of the kink-like and soliton-like solutions.
