Real Oscillations of Virtual Neutrinos

We study the conditions for neutrino oscillations in a field theoretical approach by taking into account that only the neutrino production and detection processes, which are localized in space around the coordinates $\vec{x}_P$ and $\vec{x}_D$, respectively, can be manipulated. In this sense the neutrinos whose oscillations are investigated appear as virtual lines connecting production with detection in the total Feynman graph and all neutrino fields or states to be found in the discussion are mass eigenfields or eigenstates. We perform a thorough examination of the integral over the spatial components of the inner neutrino momentum and show that in the asymptotic limit $L=|\vec{x}_D - \vec{x}_P| \rightarrow \infty$ the virtual neutrinos become ``real'' and under certain conditions the usual picture of neutrino oscillations emerges without ambiguities.

Relating the scalar flavour-changing neutral couplings to the CKM matrix

We build a class of two-Higgs-doublet models in which the flavour-changing couplings of the neutral scalars are related in an exact way to elements of the quark mixing matrix. In this framework, we explore the different possibilities for CP violation and find some interesting scenarios, like a realization of the superweak idea without CP violation in the $B$-meson system. In another scenario the neutral scalars can be relatively light, and their contributions to the $B^0$--$\bar{B}^0$ transitions can alter the standard-model predictions for CP violation in that system.

CP-Violating Observables in Tagged $D^0$--$\bar{D}^0$ Decays

We perform a systematic study of CP-violating observables in \ddbar\ decays. We show that given a final state, which may be a CP eigenstate or not, all the observables can in principle be measured if decay-time information is available and if, for CP non-eigenstates, both decay rates into $f$ and $\bar f$ are considered. As an illustration of our analysis we discuss an effective superweak scenario.

Automorphisms in Gauge Theories and the Definition of CP and P

We study the possibilities to define CP and parity in general gauge theories by utilizing the intimate connection of these discrete symmetries with the group of automorphisms of the gauge Lie algebra. Special emphasis is put on the scalar gauge interactions and the CP invariance of the Yukawa couplings.

Neutrinos interacting with Polarizable Media

We study Cherenkov and transition radiation of neutral spin 1/2 particles which carry magnetic moments or electric dipole moments. In particular, we estimate the radiation caused by the solar neutrino flux in dielectric media.

Transition Radiation of Ultrarelativistic Neutral Particles

We perform a quantum theoretical calculation of transition radiation by neutral particles with spin 1/2 equipped with magnetic moments and/or electric dipole moments. The limit of vanishing masses is treated exactly for arbitrary refraction index. Finally we apply our result to the solar neutrino flux.
