Electroweak Theory

In these lectures we give a discussion of the structure of the electroweak standard model and its quantum corrections for tests of the electroweak theory. The predictions for the vector boson masses, neutrino scattering cross sections and the $Z$ resonance observables are presented in some detail. We show comparisons with the recent experimental data and their implications for the present status of the Standard Model. Finally we address the question how virtual New Physics can influence the predictions for the precision observables and discuss the minimal supersymmetric standard model as a special example of particular theoretical interest.

The decay $h^0 \to A^0A^0$: a complete 1-loop calculation in the MSSM

In the minimal supersymmetric standard model the decay $h^0 \to A^0A^0$ of the light neutral scalar $h^0$ is kinematically allowed for low values of $\tanβ$ when radiative corrections to the neutral Higgs masses are taken into account. The width of this decay mode is revisited on the basis of a complete 1-loop diagrammatic calculation. We give the analytical expressions and numerical results and compare them with the corresponding ones from the simpler and compact approximations of the effective potential method and the renormalization group approach.

Tests of the Standard Model

In this conference report a summary is given on the recent theoretical work that has contributed to improve the theoretical predictions for testing the standard model in present and future experiments. Precision calculations for the $Z$ resonance are reviewed and the status of the standard model is discussed in the light of the recent top discovery and of the results from precision experiments. Furthermore, theoretical progress for the Higgs search, for $W$ physics at LEP II, and for the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon is summarized. New Physics beyond the minimal model is briefly discussed, in particular the mimimal supersymmetric standard model in view of the recent electroweak precision data.

Higgs Physics at LEP2

In this report we review the prospects for Higgs physics at LEP2. The theoretical aspects and the phenomenology of Higgs particles are discussed within the Standard Model (SM) and the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM). The experimental search techniques are described and the discovery limits for Higgs bosons in the LEP2 energy range are summarized. In addition, opportunities of detecting Higgs particles in non-minimal extensions of the SM and the MSSM are investigated.

Production of neutral MSSM Higgs bosons in $e^+e^-$ collisions: a complete 1-loop calculation

We present the first complete 1-loop diagrammatic calculation of the cross sections for the neutral Higgs production processes $e^+e^-\ra Z^0h^0$ and $e^+e^-\ra A^0h^0$ in the minimal supersymmetric standard model. We compare the results from the diagrammatic calculation with the corresponding ones of the simpler and compact effective potential approximation and discuss the typical size of the differences.

Precision tests of the electroweak interaction

The status of the electroweak Standard Model is reviewed in the light of recent precision data and new theoretical results which have contributed to improve the predictions for precision observables, together with the remaining inherent theoretical uncertainties. Consequences for possible new physics are also discussed.

Z Boson Observables in the MSSM

A combined analysis for Z boson observables and the quantity Δr within the framework of the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model is presented. Contributions from supersymmetric particles are discussed and upper and lower bounds for the MSSM predictions are given.

$Ø(\GF^2\Mt^4)$ Electroweak Radiative Corrections to the $\PZ\Pb\Pbbar$ Vertex

The leading heavy-top two-loop corrections to the \Zbb~vertex are determined from a direct evaluation of the corresponding Feynman diagrams in the large \Mt~limit. %The calculation is done in the naive %dimensional regularization scheme with anticommuting $\ga_5$. The leading one-loop top-mass effect is enhanced by $[1+\GF\Mt^2(9-π^2/3)/(8π^2\sqrt{2})]$. Our calculation confirms a recent result of Barbieri et al.
